Vergebliches Vertrauen auf Ägypten

1 Weh den abtrünnigen Kindern, spricht der HERR, die ohne mich Pläne fassen und ohne meinen Geist Bündnisse eingehen, um eine Sünde auf die andere zu häufen, (Jes 1,2; Jes 31,1) 2 die hinabziehen nach Ägypten und befragen meinen Mund nicht, um Zuflucht zu suchen beim Pharao und sich zu bergen im Schatten Ägyptens! (2Kön 18,21) 3 Aber es soll euch die Zuflucht beim Pharao zur Schande geraten und der Schutz im Schatten Ägyptens zum Hohn. (Jes 20,5) 4 Denn seine Fürsten waren zwar in Zoan, und seine Boten sind nach Hanes^[1] gekommen, (Jes 19,11; Jes 19,13) 5 aber alle sind zuschanden geworden an dem Volk, das ihnen nichts nützen kann, weder zur Hilfe noch sonst zu Nutz, sondern nur zu Schande und Spott. 6 Dies ist die Last^[2] für die Tiere des Südlandes: Im Lande der Trübsal und Angst, wo Löwin und brüllender Löwe, wo Ottern und fliegende Schlangen sind, da führen sie ihre Habe auf dem Rücken von Eseln und ihre Schätze auf dem Höcker von Kamelen zu dem Volk, das ihnen nichts nützen kann. (5Mo 8,15; Jes 14,29) 7 Denn Ägypten ist nichts, und sein Helfen ist vergeblich. Darum nenne ich Ägypten »Rahab, zum Schweigen gebracht«. (Ps 89,11; Hes 29,3)

Vertrauen auf falsche Prophetie

8 So geh nun hin und schreib es vor ihnen nieder auf eine Tafel und zeichne es in ein Buch, dass es bleibe als Zeuge für immer und ewig. (Jes 8,1) 9 Denn sie sind ein ungehorsames Volk und verlogene Kinder, die nicht hören wollen die Weisung des HERRN, (Jes 1,4) 10 sondern sagen zu den Sehern: »Ihr sollt nicht sehen!«, und zu den Schauern: »Was wahr ist, sollt ihr uns nicht schauen! Redet zu uns, was angenehm ist; schaut, was täuscht! (Am 2,12; Mi 2,6) 11 Weicht ab vom Wege, geht aus der rechten Bahn! Lasst uns doch in Ruhe mit dem Heiligen Israels!« 12 Darum, so spricht der Heilige Israels: Weil ihr dies Wort verwerft und vertraut auf Frevel und Mutwillen und verlasst euch darauf, 13 so soll euch diese Schuld sein wie ein Riss, der aufbricht und klafft an einer hohen Mauer, die plötzlich, unversehens einstürzt, 14 wie wenn ein Topf zerschmettert wird, den man zerstößt ohne Erbarmen, sodass man von seinen Stücken nicht eine Scherbe findet, darin man Feuer hole vom Herd oder Wasser schöpfe aus dem Brunnen. (Jer 19,11) 15 Denn so spricht Gott der HERR, der Heilige Israels: Wenn ihr umkehrtet und stille bliebet, so würde euch geholfen; durch Stillesein und Vertrauen würdet ihr stark sein. Aber ihr habt nicht gewollt (2Mo 14,14; Jes 7,4; Jes 28,12) 16 und spracht: »Nein, sondern auf Rossen wollen wir dahinfliegen«, – darum werdet ihr dahinfliehen, »und auf Rennern wollen wir reiten«, – darum werden euch eure Verfolger überrennen. 17 Denn tausend werden fliehen vor eines Einzigen Drohen, ihr alle vor dem Drohen von fünfen, bis ihr übrig bleibt wie ein Mast oben auf einem Berge und wie ein Banner auf einem Hügel. (5Mo 32,30)

Gottes Erbarmen

18 Darum harrt der HERR darauf, dass er euch gnädig sei, und darum macht er sich auf, dass er sich euer erbarme; denn der HERR ist ein Gott des Rechts. Wohl allen, die auf ihn harren! (Ps 2,12) 19 Du Volk Zions, das in Jerusalem wohnt, du wirst nicht weinen! Er wird dir gnädig sein, wenn du rufst. Er wird dir antworten, sobald er’s hört. (Jes 65,24) 20 Und der Herr wird euch in Trübsal Brot und in Ängsten Wasser geben. Und dein Lehrer wird sich nicht mehr verbergen müssen, sondern deine Augen werden deinen Lehrer sehen. 21 Und wenn ihr zur Rechten oder zur Linken gehen wollt, werden deine Ohren hinter dir das Wort hören: Dies ist der Weg; den geht! (5Mo 5,32) 22 Und ihr werdet entweihen eure silbernen Götzen und eure vergoldeten Bilder und werdet sie wegwerfen wie Unrat und zu ihnen sagen: Hinaus! (Jes 2,20; Jes 27,9; Jes 31,7) 23 Und er wird deinem Samen, den du auf den Acker gesät hast, Regen geben und dir Brot geben vom Ertrag des Ackers in voller Genüge. Und dein Vieh wird zu der Zeit weiden auf weiter Aue. (3Mo 26,4; Joe 2,23) 24 Die Rinder und Esel, die den Acker bearbeiten, werden würziges Futter fressen, das geworfelt ist mit Schaufel und Wurfgabel. 25 Und es werden auf allen großen Bergen und auf allen hohen Hügeln Wasserbäche und Ströme fließen zur Zeit der großen Schlacht, wenn die Türme fallen werden. 26 Und des Mondes Schein wird sein wie der Sonne Schein, und der Sonne Schein wird siebenmal heller sein, so wie das Licht von sieben Tagen, zu der Zeit, wenn der HERR den Schaden seines Volks verbinden und seine Wunden heilen wird. (Jer 30,17)

Gericht über Assyrien

27 Siehe, des HERRN Name kommt von ferne! Sein Zorn brennt und mächtig erhebt er sich, seine Lippen sind voll Grimm und seine Zunge wie ein verzehrendes Feuer 28 und sein Odem wie eine Wasserflut, die bis an den Hals reicht, zu schwingen die Völker in der Schwinge des Verderbens. Und er wird die Völker mit einem Zaum im Maul in die Irre führen. (Jes 8,8) 29 Da werdet ihr singen wie in der Nacht des heiligen Festes und euch von Herzen freuen, wie wenn man mit Flötenspiel geht zum Berge des HERRN, zum Fels Israels. (5Mo 16,14; Ps 18,3) 30 Und der HERR wird seine herrliche Stimme erschallen lassen, und man wird sehen, wie sein Arm herniederfährt mit zornigem Drohen und mit Flammen verzehrenden Feuers, mit Wolkenbruch und Hagelschlag. (Jes 29,6) 31 Da wird Assur erschrecken vor der Stimme des HERRN, der ihn schlägt mit dem Stock. (2Kön 19,35; Jes 10,26) 32 Jeder Schlag der Zuchtrute, die der HERR auf ihn niedersausen lässt, geschieht unter Pauken- und Zitherspiel, und er kämpft mit Assur, wie man im Tanz ein Opfer schwingt. 33 Denn die Feuergrube ist längst hergerichtet, ja, sie ist auch dem König bereitet, tief und weit genug. Der Scheiterhaufen darin hat Feuer und Holz die Menge; der Odem des HERRN wird ihn anzünden wie ein Schwefelstrom.

1 Woe to the rebellious children, saith the LORD, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin: 2 That walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked at my mouth; to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to trust in the shadow of Egypt! 3 Therefore shall the strength of Pharaoh be your shame, and the trust in the shadow of Egypt your confusion. 4 For his princes were at Zoan, and his ambassadors came to Hanes. 5 They were all ashamed of a people that could not profit them, nor be an help nor profit, but a shame, and also a reproach. 6 The burden of the beasts of the south: into the land of trouble and anguish, from whence come the young and old lion, the viper and fiery flying serpent, they will carry their riches upon the shoulders of young asses, and their treasures upon the bunches of camels, to a people that shall not profit them . 7 For the Egyptians shall help in vain, and to no purpose: therefore have I cried concerning this, Their strength is to sit still. 8 Now go, write it before them in a table, and note it in a book, that it may be for the time to come for ever and ever: 9 That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the LORD: 10 Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits: 11 Get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us. 12 Wherefore thus saith the Holy One of Israel, Because ye despise this word, and trust in oppression and perverseness, and stay thereon: 13 Therefore this iniquity shall be to you as a breach ready to fall, swelling out in a high wall, whose breaking cometh suddenly at an instant. 14 And he shall break it as the breaking of the potters'vessel that is broken in pieces; he shall not spare: so that there shall not be found in the bursting of it a sherd to take fire from the hearth, or to take water withal out of the pit. 15 For thus saith the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not. 16 But ye said, No; for we will flee upon horses; therefore shall ye flee: and, We will ride upon the swift; therefore shall they that pursue you be swift. 17 One thousand shall flee at the rebuke of one; at the rebuke of five shall ye flee: till ye be left as a beacon upon the top of a mountain, and as an ensign on an hill. 18 And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the LORD is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him. 19 For the people shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem: thou shalt weep no more: he will be very gracious unto thee at the voice of thy cry; when he shall hear it, he will answer thee. 20 And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity, and the water of affliction, yet shall not thy teachers be removed into a corner any more, but thine eyes shall see thy teachers: 21 And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left. 22 Ye shall defile also the covering of thy graven images of silver, and the ornament of thy molten images of gold: thou shalt cast them away as a menstruous cloth; thou shalt say unto it, Get thee hence. 23 Then shall he give the rain of thy seed, that thou shalt sow the ground withal; and bread of the increase of the earth, and it shall be fat and plenteous: in that day shall thy cattle feed in large pastures. 24 The oxen likewise and the young asses that ear the ground shall eat clean provender, which hath been winnowed with the shovel and with the fan. 25 And there shall be upon every high mountain, and upon every high hill, rivers and streams of waters in the day of the great slaughter, when the towers fall. 26 Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days, in the day that the LORD bindeth up the breach of his people, and healeth the stroke of their wound. 27 Behold, the name of the LORD cometh from far, burning with his anger, and the burden thereof is heavy: his lips are full of indignation, and his tongue as a devouring fire: 28 And his breath, as an overflowing stream, shall reach to the midst of the neck, to sift the nations with the sieve of vanity: and there shall be a bridle in the jaws of the people, causing them to err. 29 Ye shall have a song, as in the night when a holy solemnity is kept; and gladness of heart, as when one goeth with a pipe to come into the mountain of the LORD, to the mighty One of Israel. 30 And the LORD shall cause his glorious voice to be heard, and shall shew the lighting down of his arm, with the indignation of his anger, and with the flame of a devouring fire, with scattering, and tempest, and hailstones. 31 For through the voice of the LORD shall the Assyrian be beaten down, which smote with a rod. 32 And in every place where the grounded staff shall pass, which the LORD shall lay upon him, it shall be with tabrets and harps: and in battles of shaking will he fight with it. 33 For Tophet is ordained of old; yea, for the king it is prepared; he hath made it deep and large: the pile thereof is fire and much wood; the breath of the LORD, like a stream of brimstone, doth kindle it.
