Johannes 14

(Joh 10,18)

Johannes 14

King James Version

1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.19 Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.20 At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.22 Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.25 These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.28 Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.29 And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.30 Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.31 But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.

1 “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God;[1] believe also in me. (Joh 12,44; Joh 14,27; Joh 16,22; 1Petr 3,14)2 In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?[2] (Joh 2,16; Joh 8,21; Joh 13,33; Joh 13,36; Joh 16,7)3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. (Joh 12,26; Joh 14,18; Joh 14,28; Joh 21,22)4 And you know the way to where I am going.”[3]5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” (Joh 11,16; Joh 13,36)6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (Joh 1,14; Joh 1,17; Joh 11,25; Eph 2,18; Hebr 9,8; Hebr 10,20; 1Joh 5,20)7 If you had known me, you would have known my Father also.[4] From now on you do know him and have seen him.” (Joh 6,46; Joh 8,19; 1Joh 2,13)8 Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” (2Mo 33,18; Joh 1,43; Joh 12,21)9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? (Joh 10,30; Joh 12,45; Joh 15,24; Kol 1,15; Hebr 1,3)10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own authority, but the Father who dwells in me does his works. (Joh 5,19; Joh 10,38)11 Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or else believe on account of the works themselves. (Joh 5,36; Joh 14,10)12 “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father. (Mt 17,20; Mt 21,21; Mk 11,23; Mk 16,17; Joh 7,33; Joh 13,1; Joh 13,3; Joh 14,28; Joh 16,5; Joh 16,10; Joh 16,17; Joh 16,28; Joh 17,11; Joh 17,13; Joh 20,17)13 Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. (Mt 7,7; Joh 13,31; Joh 15,16; Joh 16,23)14 If you ask me[5] anything in my name, I will do it. (Joh 14,13)15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments. (Joh 14,21; Joh 14,23; Joh 15,10; 1Joh 2,3; 1Joh 5,3; 2Joh 1,6)16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper,[6] to be with you forever, (Joh 14,26; Joh 15,26; Joh 16,7)17 even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be[7] in you. (Joh 15,26; Joh 16,13; Apg 2,4; Röm 8,9; 1Kor 2,12; 1Kor 2,14; 1Joh 2,27; 1Joh 4,6; 1Joh 5,6; 2Joh 1,2)18 “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. (Joh 14,3; Joh 14,28)19 Yet a little while and the world will see me no more, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. (Joh 7,33; Joh 12,45; Joh 16,16; Röm 5,10; Eph 2,5; Offb 20,4)20 In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you. (Joh 14,10; Joh 15,4; Joh 16,23; Joh 16,26; Joh 17,21; Joh 17,23; Joh 17,26; 1Joh 2,28)21 Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him.” (Joh 7,4; Joh 7,17; Joh 8,31; Joh 12,26; Joh 14,15; Joh 16,27; 1Joh 2,5)22 Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, “Lord, how is it that you will manifest yourself to us, and not to the world?” (Lk 6,16; Apg 1,13; Apg 10,40)23 Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. (Joh 14,15; Joh 14,21; 2Kor 6,16; 1Joh 2,24; Offb 3,20)24 Whoever does not love me does not keep my words. And the word that you hear is not mine but the Father’s who sent me. (Joh 7,16; Joh 14,10)25 “These things I have spoken to you while I am still with you.26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. (Lk 24,36; Joh 14,1; Joh 16,33; Joh 20,19; Joh 20,21; Joh 20,26; Eph 2,17; Phil 4,7; Kol 3,15; 2Tim 1,7)28 You heard me say to you, ‘I am going away, and I will come to you.’ If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. (Joh 8,21; Joh 10,29; Joh 14,2; Joh 14,12; Phil 2,6)29 And now I have told you before it takes place, so that when it does take place you may believe. (Joh 13,19; Joh 16,4)30 I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming. He has no claim on me, (Joh 12,31; Joh 17,14; Joh 18,36; Hebr 4,15)31 but I do as the Father has commanded me, so that the world may know that I love the Father. Rise, let us go from here.
