1Siehe, des HERRN Arm ist nicht zu kurz, dass er nicht helfen könnte, und seine Ohren sind nicht taub geworden, sodass er nicht hören könnte, (Jes 50,2)2sondern eure Verschuldungen scheiden euch von eurem Gott, und eure Sünden verbergen sein Angesicht vor euch, dass ihr nicht gehört werdet.3Denn eure Hände sind mit Blut befleckt und eure Finger mit Verschuldung; eure Lippen flüstern Falsches, eure Zunge spricht Bosheit. (Jes 1,15)4Es ist niemand, der eine gerechte Sache vorbringt, und niemand, der redlich richtet. Man vertraut auf Nichtiges und redet Trug; mit Unheil sind sie schwanger und gebären Verderben. (Ps 7,15)5Sie brüten Natterneier und weben Spinnweben. Isst man von ihren Eiern, so muss man sterben, zertritt man sie aber, so fährt eine Schlange heraus.6Ihre Gewebe taugen nicht zu Kleidern, und ihr Gespinst taugt nicht zur Decke. Ihre Werke sind Unheilswerke, an ihren Händen ist Frevel.7Ihre Füße laufen zum Bösen, und sie sind schnell dabei, unschuldig Blut zu vergießen. Ihre Gedanken sind Unheilsgedanken, auf ihren Wegen wohnt Verderben und Schaden. (Spr 1,16; Jer 2,34; Röm 3,15)8Sie kennen den Weg des Friedens nicht, und Unrecht ist auf ihren Pfaden. Sie gehen auf krummen Wegen; wer auf ihnen geht, der kennt keinen Frieden.9Darum ist das Recht ferne von uns, und die Gerechtigkeit kommt nicht zu uns. Wir harren auf Licht, siehe, so ist’s finster, auf Helligkeit, siehe, so wandeln wir im Dunkeln.10Wir tasten an der Wand entlang wie die Blinden und tappen wie die, die keine Augen haben. Wir stoßen uns am Mittag wie in der Dämmerung, wir sind im Düstern wie die Toten. (5Mo 28,29)11Wir brummen alle wie die Bären und gurren wie die Tauben; denn wir harren auf Recht, so ist’s nicht da, auf Heil, so ist’s ferne von uns.12Denn wir sind zu oft von dir abgefallen, und unsre Sünden zeugen gegen uns. Unsre Abtrünnigkeit steht uns vor Augen, und wir kennen unsre Sünden: (Jer 14,7)13abtrünnig sein und den HERRN verleugnen und abfallen von unserm Gott, Frevel reden und Ungehorsam, Lügenworte ausbrüten und bedenkenlos daherreden.14Und das Recht ist zurückgewichen, und die Gerechtigkeit hat sich entfernt; denn die Wahrheit ist auf der Gasse zu Fall gekommen, und die Aufrichtigkeit findet keinen Eingang.15Und die Wahrheit ist dahin, und wer vom Bösen weicht, muss sich ausplündern lassen. Das alles sah der HERR und es missfiel ihm sehr, dass kein Recht war.16Und er sah, dass niemand auf dem Plan war, und war bestürzt, dass niemand einschritt. Da half er sich selbst mit seinem Arm, und seine Gerechtigkeit stand ihm bei. (Hes 13,4)17Er zog Gerechtigkeit an wie einen Panzer und setzte den Helm des Heils auf sein Haupt und zog an das Gewand der Rache und kleidete sich mit Eifer wie mit einem Mantel.18Nach den Taten vergilt er: mit Grimm seinen Widersachern, mit Vergeltung seinen Feinden; ja, den Inseln zahlt er heim,19dass der Name des HERRN gefürchtet werde bei denen vom Niedergang der Sonne und seine Herrlichkeit bei denen von ihrem Aufgang, wenn er kommen wird wie ein reißender Strom, den der Odem des HERRN treibt.20Aber für Zion wird ein Erlöser kommen und für die in Jakob, die sich von der Sünde abwenden, spricht der HERR. (Röm 11,26)21Und dies ist mein Bund mit ihnen, spricht der HERR: Mein Geist, der auf dir ruht, und meine Worte, die ich in deinen Mund gelegt habe, sollen von deinem Mund nicht weichen noch von dem Mund deiner Kinder und Kindeskinder, spricht der HERR, von nun an bis in Ewigkeit. (Hi 8,14)7Their feet run to evil, and they are swift to shed innocent blood; their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; desolation and destruction are in their highways. (Spr 1,16; Röm 3,15)8The way of peace they do not know, and there is no justice in their paths; they have made their roads crooked; no one who treads on them knows peace. (Jes 48,22; Jes 57,21)9Therefore justice is far from us, and righteousness does not overtake us; we hope for light, and behold, darkness, and for brightness, but we walk in gloom. (Jes 59,11; Jes 60,2)10We grope for the wall like the blind; we grope like those who have no eyes; we stumble at noon as in the twilight, among those in full vigor we are like dead men. Judgment and Redemption
14Justice is turned back, and righteousness stands far away; for truth has stumbled in the public squares, and uprightness cannot enter. (Jes 51,4)15Truth is lacking, and he who departs from evil makes himself a prey. The Lord saw it, and it displeased him[1] that there was no justice.16He saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no one to intercede; then his own arm brought him salvation, and his righteousness upheld him. (Jes 51,18; Jes 63,5)17He put on righteousness as a breastplate, and a helmet of salvation on his head; he put on garments of vengeance for clothing, and wrapped himself in zeal as a cloak. (Jes 9,7; Eph 6,13; 1Thess 5,8)18According to their deeds, so will he repay, wrath to his adversaries, repayment to his enemies; to the coastlands he will render repayment. (Jes 41,1; Jes 41,5; Jes 63,4; Jes 63,6)19So they shall fear the name of the Lord from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun; for he will come like a rushing stream,[2] which the wind of the Lord drives.
