Gericht über das Gebirge Seïr (Edom)

1 Und des HERRN Wort geschah zu mir: 2 Du Menschenkind, richte dein Angesicht gegen das Gebirge Seïr und weissage gegen es (1Mo 36,8) 3 und sprich zu ihm: So spricht Gott der HERR: Siehe, ich will an dich, du Gebirge Seïr, und meine Hand gegen dich ausstrecken und will dich ganz und gar zur Wüste machen. 4 Ich will deine Städte öde machen, dass du zur Wüste werden sollst, und du sollst erfahren, dass ich der HERR bin. 5 Weil ihr ewige Feindschaft hattet gegen die Israeliten und sie dem Schwert preisgegeben habt, als es ihnen übel ging und ihre Schuld sie ans Ende brachte, – (Ps 137,7) 6 darum, so wahr ich lebe, spricht Gott der HERR, will ich auch dich bluten lassen, und du sollst dem Blutbad nicht entrinnen. Weil du dich mit Blut verschuldet hast, soll auch dein Blut fließen. 7 Und ich will das Gebirge Seïr wüst und öde machen und alle ausrotten, die dort hin und her ziehen. 8 Und ich will seine Berge mit Erschlagenen füllen, seine Hügel, seine Täler und alle seine Bachläufe – überall sollen vom Schwert Erschlagene liegen. 9 Ja, zu einer ewigen Wüste will ich dich machen, dass niemand mehr in deinen Städten wohnt, und ihr sollt erfahren, dass ich der HERR bin. 10 Weil du sprachst: »Diese beiden Völker mit ihren beiden Ländern müssen mein werden, und wir wollen sie in Besitz nehmen« – obgleich der HERR dort wohnt –, 11 darum, so wahr ich lebe, spricht Gott der HERR, will ich an dir handeln mit demselben Zorn und derselben Leidenschaft, mit denen du an ihnen gehandelt hast in deinem Hass, und will mich an ihnen kundtun, wenn ich dich richte. 12 Und du sollst erfahren, dass ich, der HERR, all deine Lästerreden gegen die Berge Israels gehört habe, als du sagtest: Sie sind verwüstet und uns zum Fraß gegeben. 13 So habt ihr euch gegen mich gerühmt und frech gegen mich geredet; das habe ich gehört. 14 So spricht Gott der HERR: Wie du dich gefreut hast, dass das ganze Land verwüstet war, so will ich dir tun. 15 Ja, wie du dich gefreut hast über das Erbe des Hauses Israel, weil es verwüstet war, ebenso will ich mit dir tun: Das Gebirge Seïr soll zur Wüste werden mit ganz Edom, und sie sollen erfahren, dass ich der HERR bin.

Prophecy Against Mount Seir

1 The word of the Lord came to me: 2 “Son of man, set your face against Mount Seir, and prophesy against it, (1Mo 32,3; Jes 21,11; Hes 2,1; Hes 6,2; Hes 25,8; Hes 25,12; Am 1,11; Mal 1,4)

3 and say to it, Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I am against you, Mount Seir, and I will stretch out my hand against you, and I will make you a desolation and a waste. (Hes 6,14; Hes 13,8; Hes 33,28) 4 I will lay your cities waste, and you shall become a desolation, and you shall know that I am the Lord. (Jes 17,9; Jes 27,10) 5 Because you cherished perpetual enmity and gave over the people of Israel to the power of the sword at the time of their calamity, at the time of their final punishment, (Ps 137,7; Hes 21,25; Am 1,11; Ob 1,13)

6 therefore, as I live, declares the Lord God, I will prepare you for blood, and blood shall pursue you; because you did not hate bloodshed, therefore blood shall pursue you. (1Mo 9,6; Hes 16,48) 7 I will make Mount Seir a waste and a desolation, and I will cut off from it all who come and go. (Hes 29,11; Hes 35,3; Hes 35,4) 8 And I will fill its mountains with the slain. On your hills and in your valleys and in all your ravines those slain with the sword shall fall. (Hes 31,12; Hes 31,17; Hes 32,20) 9 I will make you a perpetual desolation, and your cities shall not be inhabited. Then you will know that I am the Lord. 11 therefore, as I live, declares the Lord God, I will deal with you according to the anger and envy that you showed because of your hatred against them. And I will make myself known among them, when I judge you. (Hes 35,6; Hes 35,9; Hes 35,15; Mt 7,2)

12 And you shall know that I am the Lord. “I have heard all the revilings that you uttered against the mountains of Israel, saying, ‘They are laid desolate; they are given us to devour.’ (2Kön 19,4; 2Kön 19,28; Hes 35,10) 13 And you magnified yourselves against me with your mouth, and multiplied your words against me; I heard it. (1Sam 2,3; Hes 35,12) 14 Thus says the Lord God: While the whole earth rejoices, I will make you desolate. (Jes 65,13) 15 As you rejoiced over the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was desolate, so I will deal with you; you shall be desolate, Mount Seir, and all Edom, all of it.
