1Dies sind die Gebiete, die die Israeliten als Erbteil erhielten im Lande Kanaan, die unter sie ausgeteilt haben der Priester Eleasar und Josua, der Sohn Nuns, und die Häupter der Sippen unter den Stämmen der Israeliten. (4Mo 34,17)2Sie teilten diese Gebiete durchs Los unter sie, wie der HERR durch Mose geboten hatte, sie den neuneinhalb Stämmen zu geben. (4Mo 26,55)3Denn den zweieinhalb Stämmen hatte Mose ihr Erbteil gegeben jenseits des Jordans; den Leviten aber hatte er kein Erbteil unter ihnen gegeben. Den Leviten aber gab man keinen Anteil am Lande, sondern Städte zum Wohnen samt Weideplätzen für ihr Vieh und ihre Habe. Kalebs Erbteil
6Da traten herzu die Judäer zu Josua in Gilgal; und Kaleb, der Sohn Jefunnes, der Kenasiter, sprach zu ihm: Du weißt, was der HERR zu Mose, dem Mann Gottes, sagte meinet- und deinetwegen in Kadesch-Barnea. (4Mo 13,1; 4Mo 14,24; 5Mo 1,36)7Ich war vierzig Jahre alt, als mich Mose, der Knecht des HERRN, aussandte von Kadesch-Barnea, um das Land zu erkunden, und ich ihm Bericht gab nach bestem Wissen. (4Mo 13,6; 4Mo 13,30)8Aber meine Brüder, die mit mir hinaufgezogen waren, machten dem Volk das Herz verzagt; ich aber folgte dem HERRN, meinem Gott, treulich.9Da schwor Mose an jenem Tage und sprach: Das Land, das dein Fuß betreten hat, soll dein und deiner Nachkommen Erbteil sein für immer, weil du dem HERRN, meinem Gott, treulich gefolgt bist.10Und nun siehe, der HERR hat mich am Leben gelassen, wie er mir zugesagt hat. Es sind nun fünfundvierzig Jahre her, dass der HERR dies zu Mose sagte, als Israel in der Wüste umherzog. Und nun siehe, ich bin heute fünfundachtzig Jahre alt11und bin noch heute so stark, wie ich war an dem Tage, da mich Mose aussandte. Wie meine Kraft damals war, so ist sie noch jetzt, zu kämpfen und aus- und einzuziehen.12So gib mir nun dies Gebirge, von dem der HERR geredet hat an jenem Tage; denn du hast’s gehört am selben Tage, dass dort die Anakiter wohnen und große und feste Städte sind. Vielleicht wird der HERR mit mir sein, dass ich sie vertreibe, wie der HERR zugesagt hat. (Jos 11,21)13Da segnete ihn Josua und gab Kaleb, dem Sohn Jefunnes, Hebron zum Erbteil. (Jos 15,13; Jos 21,11)14Daher wurde Hebron das Erbteil Kalebs, des Sohnes Jefunnes, des Kenasiters, bis auf diesen Tag, weil er dem HERRN, dem Gott Israels, treulich gefolgt war. (4Mo 32,12)15Aber Hebron hieß vorzeiten Stadt des Arba, der der größte Mensch war unter den Anakitern. Und das Land war zur Ruhe gekommen vom Kriege. (Jos 11,23)

Und man gab den Leviten kein Teil im Land, außer den Städten zum Wohnen und deren Weideplätzen für ihr Vieh und für ihre Habe. Erbteil des Kaleb
6Da traten die Söhne Juda vor Josua in Gilgal, und Kaleb, der Sohn des Jefunne, der Kenasiter, sagte zu ihm: Du kennst das Wort, das der HERR zu Mose, dem Mann Gottes, meinet- und deinetwegen in Kadesch-Barnea geredet hat. (4Mo 13,6; 5Mo 33,1; 1Chr 23,14)7Vierzig Jahre war ich alt, als Mose, der Knecht des HERRN, mich von Kadesch-Barnea aussandte, um das Land auszukundschaften; und ich brachte ihm Antwort, wie es in meinem Herzen war[2]. (4Mo 13,26; 4Mo 13,30; Mt 12,34)8Meine Brüder aber, die mit mir hinaufgezogen waren, machten das Herz des Volkes verzagt[3]; ich aber bin dem HERRN, meinem Gott, treu nachgefolgt[4]. (4Mo 13,31; 4Mo 14,1; 4Mo 14,24; 5Mo 1,28; 5Mo 1,36)9Da schwor Mose an demselben Tag: Wenn nicht das Land, auf das dein Fuß getreten ist, dir und deinen Söhnen für ewig zum Erbteil wird[5]! Denn du bist dem HERRN, meinem Gott, treu nachgefolgt[6]. (Jos 1,3; Ps 37,9)10Und nun siehe, der HERR hat mich am Leben erhalten, wie er geredet hat. Es sind ⟨nun⟩ 45 Jahre, seitdem der HERR dieses Wort zu Mose geredet hat, als Israel in der Wüste umherzog; und nun siehe, ich bin heute 85 Jahre alt. (2Chr 15,7; Gal 6,9)15Der Name Hebrons war aber vorher Stadt des Arba[7]; der war der größte Mann unter den Enakitern gewesen. – Und das Land hatte Ruhe vom Krieg. 1Now these are the areas the Israelites received as an inheritance in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, Joshua son of Nun and the heads of the tribal clans of Israel allotted to them.2Their inheritances were assigned by lot to the nine-and-a-half tribes, as the Lord had commanded through Moses.3Moses had granted the two-and-a-half tribes their inheritance east of the Jordan but had not granted the Levites an inheritance among the rest,4for Joseph’s descendants had become two tribes – Manasseh and Ephraim. The Levites received no share of the land but only towns to live in, with pasture-lands for their flocks and herds.5So the Israelites divided the land, just as the Lord had commanded Moses.
Land allotted to Caleb
6Now the people of Judah approached Joshua at Gilgal, and Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him, ‘You know what the Lord said to Moses the man of God at Kadesh Barnea about you and me.7I was forty years old when Moses the servant of the Lord sent me from Kadesh Barnea to explore the land. And I brought him back a report according to my convictions,8but my fellow Israelites who went up with me made the hearts of the people sink. I, however, followed the Lord my God wholeheartedly.9So on that day Moses swore to me, “The land on which your feet have walked will be your inheritance and that of your children for ever, because you have followed the Lord my God wholeheartedly.” (5Mo 1,36)10‘Now then, just as the Lord promised, he has kept me alive for forty-five years since the time he said this to Moses, while Israel moved about in the wilderness. So here I am today, eighty-five years old!11I am still as strong today as the day Moses sent me out; I’m just as vigorous to go out to battle now as I was then.12Now give me this hill country that the Lord promised me that day. You yourself heard then that the Anakites were there and their cities were large and fortified, but, the Lord helping me, I will drive them out just as he said.’13Then Joshua blessed Caleb son of Jephunneh and gave him Hebron as his inheritance.14So Hebron has belonged to Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite ever since, because he followed the Lord, the God of Israel, wholeheartedly.15(Hebron used to be called Kiriath Arba after Arba, who was the greatest man among the Anakites.)
