Petrus in Jerusalem

1 Es hörten aber die Apostel und die Brüder in Judäa, dass auch die Heiden Gottes Wort angenommen hätten. 2 Und als Petrus hinaufkam nach Jerusalem, stritten die aus der Beschneidung mit ihm 3 und sprachen: Du bist zu unbeschnittenen Männern gegangen und hast mit ihnen gegessen. (Gal 2,12) 4 Petrus aber fing an und erzählte es ihnen der Reihe nach und sprach: 5 Ich war in der Stadt Joppe im Gebet und sah in Verzückung ein Gesicht: Ich sah ein Gefäß herabkommen wie ein großes leinenes Tuch, an vier Zipfeln niedergelassen vom Himmel; das kam bis zu mir. (Apg 10,9) 6 Als ich genau hineinschaute, sah ich vierfüßige Tiere der Erde und wilde Tiere und kriechende Tiere und Vögel des Himmels. 7 Ich hörte aber auch eine Stimme, die sprach zu mir: Steh auf, Petrus, schlachte und iss! 8 Ich aber sprach: O nein, Herr; denn es ist nie etwas Gemeines oder Unreines in meinen Mund gekommen. 9 Aber die Stimme antwortete zum zweiten Mal vom Himmel: Was Gott rein gemacht hat, das nenne du nicht unrein. 10 Das geschah aber dreimal; und alles wurde wieder gen Himmel hinaufgezogen. 11 Und siehe, auf einmal standen drei Männer vor dem Hause, in dem wir waren, von Cäsarea zu mir gesandt. 12 Der Geist aber sprach zu mir, ich sollte mit ihnen gehen und nicht zweifeln. Es kamen aber mit mir auch diese sechs Brüder und wir gingen in das Haus des Mannes. 13 Der berichtete uns, wie er gesehen habe einen Engel in seinem Hause stehen, der gesprochen habe: Sende nach Joppe und lass holen Simon, mit dem Beinamen Petrus; 14 der wird dir die Botschaft sagen, durch die du selig wirst und dein ganzes Haus. (Apg 16,31) 15 Als ich aber anfing zu reden, fiel der Heilige Geist auf sie ebenso wie am Anfang auf uns. (Apg 2,1) 16 Da dachte ich an das Wort des Herrn, als er sagte: Johannes hat mit Wasser getauft; ihr aber sollt mit dem Heiligen Geist getauft werden. (Lk 3,16; Apg 1,5) 17 Wenn nun Gott ihnen die gleiche Gabe gegeben hat wie auch uns, die wir zum Glauben gekommen sind an den Herrn Jesus Christus: Wer war ich, dass ich Gott wehren könnte? 18 Als sie das hörten, schwiegen sie still und lobten Gott und sprachen: So hat Gott auch den Heiden die Umkehr gegeben, die zum Leben führt! (Apg 14,27)

Erste Christen in Antiochia

19 Die aber zerstreut waren wegen der Verfolgung, die sich wegen Stephanus erhob, gingen bis nach Phönizien und Zypern und Antiochia und verkündigten das Wort niemandem als allein den Juden. (Apg 8,1) 20 Es waren aber einige unter ihnen, Männer aus Zypern und Kyrene, die kamen nach Antiochia und redeten auch zu den Griechen^[1] und predigten das Evangelium vom Herrn Jesus. 21 Und die Hand des Herrn war mit ihnen und eine große Zahl wurde gläubig und bekehrte sich zum Herrn. (Apg 2,47) 22 Es kam aber die Kunde davon der Gemeinde zu Jerusalem zu Ohren; und sie sandten Barnabas, dass er nach Antiochia ginge. (Apg 4,36) 23 Als dieser dort hingekommen war und die Gnade Gottes sah, wurde er froh und ermahnte sie alle, mit festem Herzen an dem Herrn zu bleiben; 24 denn er war ein bewährter Mann, voll Heiligen Geistes und Glaubens. Und viel Volk wurde für den Herrn gewonnen. (Apg 5,14) 25 Barnabas aber ging nach Tarsus, Saulus zu suchen. (Apg 9,30) 26 Und als er ihn fand, brachte er ihn nach Antiochia. Und sie blieben ein ganzes Jahr in der Gemeinde und lehrten viele. – In Antiochia wurden die Jünger zuerst Christen genannt. (Gal 2,11) 27 In diesen Tagen kamen Propheten von Jerusalem nach Antiochia. (Apg 13,1; Apg 15,32) 28 Und einer von ihnen mit Namen Agabus trat auf und sagte durch den Geist eine große Hungersnot voraus, die über den ganzen Erdkreis kommen sollte; dies geschah unter dem Kaiser Klaudius. (Apg 21,10) 29 Aber unter den Jüngern beschloss ein jeder, nach seinem Vermögen den Brüdern, die in Judäa wohnten, eine Gabe zu senden. 30 Das taten sie auch und schickten sie zu den Ältesten durch Barnabas und Saulus. (Apg 12,25; 1Kor 16,1)

Petrus verteidigt in Jerusalem seine Sendung zu den Heiden

(Apg 10,28; Gal 2,12) 4 Petrus aber fing an und setzte es ihnen der Reihe nach auseinander und sprach: 5 Ich war in der Stadt Joppe im Gebet, und ich sah in einer Verzückung eine Erscheinung, wie ein Gefäß herabkam, gleich einem großen leinenen Tuch, an vier Zipfeln herabgelassen aus dem Himmel; und es kam bis zu mir. 6 Und als ich gespannt hineinschaute, bemerkte und sah ich die vierfüßigen Tiere der Erde und die wilden Tiere und die kriechenden und die Vögel des Himmels. 7 Ich hörte aber auch eine Stimme, die zu mir sagte: Steh auf, Petrus, schlachte und iss! 8 Ich sprach aber: Keineswegs, Herr! Denn niemals ist Gemeines^[1] oder Unreines in meinen Mund gekommen. 9 Eine Stimme aber antwortete zum zweiten Mal aus dem Himmel: Was Gott gereinigt hat, mach du nicht gemein! 10 Dies aber geschah dreimal; und alles wurde wieder hinaufgezogen in den Himmel. 11 Und siehe, sogleich standen vor dem Haus, in dem ich war, drei Männer, die von Cäsarea zu mir gesandt waren. 12 Der Geist aber sagte mir, ich solle ohne Bedenken mit ihnen gehen. Es kamen aber auch diese sechs Brüder mit mir, und wir kehrten in das Haus des Mannes ein. (Apg 8,29) 13 Und er erzählte uns, wie er den Engel in seinem Haus habe stehen sehen und sagen: Sende nach Joppe und lass Simon mit dem Beinamen Petrus holen! 14 Der wird Worte zu dir reden, durch die du gerettet werden wirst, du und dein ganzes Haus. (Joh 4,53; Apg 16,15; Apg 18,8) 15 Während ich aber zu reden begann, fiel der Heilige Geist auf sie, so wie auch auf uns im Anfang. (Apg 2,4) 16 Ich erinnerte mich aber an das Wort des Herrn, wie er sagte: Johannes taufte zwar mit Wasser, ihr aber werdet mit^[2] Heiligem Geist getauft werden. (Apg 1,5) 17 Wenn nun Gott ihnen die gleiche Gabe gegeben hat wie auch uns, die wir an den Herrn Jesus Christus geglaubt haben, wer war ich, dass ich hätte Gott wehren können? – (Apg 5,32) 18 Als sie aber dies gehört hatten, beruhigten sie sich und verherrlichten Gott und sagten: Dann hat Gott also auch den Nationen die Buße gegeben zum Leben. Barnabas und Saulus bei Juden- und Heidenchristen in Antiochia

19 Die nun zerstreut waren durch die Bedrängnis, die wegen Stephanus entstanden war, zogen hindurch bis nach Phönizien und Zypern und Antiochia und redeten zu niemand das Wort als allein zu Juden. (Mt 10,6; Apg 8,1) 20 Es waren aber unter ihnen einige Männer von Zypern und Kyrene^[3], die, als sie nach Antiochia kamen, auch zu den Griechen^[4] redeten, indem sie das Evangelium von dem Herrn Jesus verkündigten. 21 Und des Herrn Hand war mit ihnen, und eine große Zahl, die gläubig wurde, bekehrte sich zum Herrn. (Lk 1,66; Apg 9,35) 22 Es kam aber die Rede von ihnen zu den Ohren der Gemeinde^[5] in Jerusalem, und sie sandten Barnabas aus, nach Antiochia hinzuziehen; (Apg 4,36; Apg 8,14) 23 der freute sich, als er hingekommen war und die Gnade Gottes sah, und ermahnte alle, mit Herzensentschluss bei dem Herrn zu verharren. (Apg 13,43; Apg 14,22) 24 Denn er war ein guter Mann und voll Heiligen Geistes und Glaubens. Und eine zahlreiche Menge wurde dem Herrn hinzugetan. (Apg 2,47; Apg 6,5) 25 Er zog aber aus nach Tarsus, um Saulus aufzusuchen; (Apg 9,27) 26 und als er ihn gefunden hatte, brachte er ihn nach Antiochia. Es geschah ihnen aber, dass sie ein ganzes Jahr in der Gemeinde^[6] zusammenkamen und eine zahlreiche Menge lehrten und dass die Jünger zuerst in Antiochia Christen genannt wurden. (Apg 26,28; 1Petr 4,16)

Prophezeiung des Agabus

27 In diesen Tagen aber kamen Propheten von Jerusalem nach Antiochia herab. (Apg 13,1; Apg 15,32) 28 Einer aber von ihnen, mit Namen Agabus, stand auf und zeigte durch den Geist eine große Hungersnot an, die über den ganzen Erdkreis kommen sollte; sie trat auch unter Klaudius^[7] ein. (Apg 18,2; Apg 21,10) 29 Sie beschlossen aber, dass, ⟨je nachdem⟩ wie einer der Jünger begütert war, jeder von ihnen zur Hilfeleistung den Brüdern, die in Judäa wohnten, ⟨etwas⟩ senden sollte; (Gal 6,10) 30 das taten sie auch, indem sie es durch die Hand des Barnabas und Saulus an die Ältesten sandten. Peter explains his actions

1 The apostles and the believers throughout Judea heard that the Gentiles also had received the word of God. 2 So when Peter went up to Jerusalem, the circumcised believers criticised him 3 and said, ‘You went into the house of uncircumcised men and ate with them.’ 4 Starting from the beginning, Peter told them the whole story: 5 ‘I was in the city of Joppa praying, and in a trance I saw a vision. I saw something like a large sheet being let down from heaven by its four corners, and it came down to where I was. 6 I looked into it and saw four-footed animals of the earth, wild beasts, reptiles and birds. 7 Then I heard a voice telling me, “Get up, Peter. Kill and eat.” 8 ‘I replied, “Surely not, Lord! Nothing impure or unclean has ever entered my mouth.” 9 ‘The voice spoke from heaven a second time, “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.” 10 This happened three times, and then it was all pulled up to heaven again. 11 ‘Right then three men who had been sent to me from Caesarea stopped at the house where I was staying. 12 The Spirit told me to have no hesitation about going with them. These six brothers also went with me, and we entered the man’s house. 13 He told us how he had seen an angel appear in his house and say, “Send to Joppa for Simon who is called Peter. 14 He will bring you a message through which you and all your household will be saved.” 15 ‘As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit came on them as he had come on us at the beginning. 16 Then I remembered what the Lord had said: “John baptised with^[1] water, but you will be baptised with^[2] the Holy Spirit.” 17 So if God gave them the same gift he gave us who believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to think that I could stand in God’s way?’ 18 When they heard this, they had no further objections and praised God, saying, ‘So then, even to Gentiles God has granted repentance that leads to life.’

The church in Antioch

19 Now those who had been scattered by the persecution that broke out when Stephen was killed travelled as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus and Antioch, spreading the word only among Jews. 20 Some of them, however, men from Cyprus and Cyrene, went to Antioch and began to speak to Greeks also, telling them the good news about the Lord Jesus. 21 The Lord’s hand was with them, and a great number of people believed and turned to the Lord. 22 News of this reached the church in Jerusalem, and they sent Barnabas to Antioch. 23 When he arrived and saw what the grace of God had done, he was glad and encouraged them all to remain true to the Lord with all their hearts. 24 He was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and faith, and a great number of people were brought to the Lord. 25 Then Barnabas went to Tarsus to look for Saul, 26 and when he found him, he brought him to Antioch. So for a whole year Barnabas and Saul met with the church and taught great numbers of people. The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch. 27 During this time some prophets came down from Jerusalem to Antioch. 28 One of them, named Agabus, stood up and through the Spirit predicted that a severe famine would spread over the entire Roman world. (This happened during the reign of Claudius.) 29 The disciples, as each one was able, decided to provide help for the brothers and sisters living in Judea. 30 This they did, sending their gift to the elders by Barnabas and Saul.

1 And the apostles and brethren that were in Judaea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God. 2 And when Peter was come up to Jerusalem, they that were of the circumcision contended with him, 3 Saying, Thou wentest in to men uncircumcised, and didst eat with them. 4 But Peter rehearsed the matter from the beginning, and expounded it by order unto them, saying, 5 I was in the city of Joppa praying: and in a trance I saw a vision, A certain vessel descend, as it had been a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners; and it came even to me: 6 Upon the which when I had fastened mine eyes, I considered, and saw fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air. 7 And I heard a voice saying unto me, Arise, Peter; slay and eat. 8 But I said, Not so, Lord: for nothing common or unclean hath at any time entered into my mouth. 9 But the voice answered me again from heaven, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common. 10 And this was done three times: and all were drawn up again into heaven. 11 And, behold, immediately there were three men already come unto the house where I was, sent from Caesarea unto me. 12 And the spirit bade me go with them, nothing doubting. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered into the man's house: 13 And he shewed us how he had seen an angel in his house, which stood and said unto him, Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter; 14 Who shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved. 15 And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning. 16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost. 17 Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God? 18 When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life. 19 Now they which were scattered abroad upon the persecution that arose about Stephen travelled as far as Phenice, and Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to none but unto the Jews only. 20 And some of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrene, which, when they were come to Antioch, spake unto the Grecians, preaching the Lord Jesus. 21 And the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and turned unto the Lord. 22 Then tidings of these things came unto the ears of the church which was in Jerusalem: and they sent forth Barnabas, that he should go as far as Antioch. 23 Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord. 24 For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord. 25 Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus, for to seek Saul: 26 And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch. 27 And in these days came prophets from Jerusalem unto Antioch. 28 And there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the spirit that there should be great dearth throughout all the world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius Caesar. 29 Then the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren which dwelt in Judaea: 30 Which also they did, and sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.
