1Hezekiah began to reign when he was five and twenty years old, and he reigned nine and twenty years in Jerusalem. And his mother' name was Abijah, the daughter of Zechariah.2And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that David his father had done.3He in the first year of his reign, in the first month, opened the doors of the house of the LORD, and repaired them.4And he brought in the priests and the Levites, and gathered them together into the east street,5And said unto them, Hear me, ye Levites, sanctify now yourselves, and sanctify the house of the LORD God of your fathers, and carry forth the filthiness out of the holy place .6For our fathers have trespassed, and done that which was evil in the eyes of the LORD our God, and have forsaken him, and have turned away their faces from the habitation of the LORD, and turned their backs.7Also they have shut up the doors of the porch, and put out the lamps, and have not burned incense nor offered burnt offerings in the holy place unto the God of Israel.8Wherefore the wrath of the LORD was upon Judah and Jerusalem, and he hath delivered them to trouble, to astonishment, and to hissing, as ye see with your eyes.9For, lo, our fathers have fallen by the sword, and our sons and our daughters and our wives are in captivity for this.10Now it is in mine heart to make a covenant with the LORD God of Israel, that his fierce wrath may turn away from us.11My sons, be not now negligent: for the LORD hath chosen you to stand before him, to serve him, and that ye should minister unto him, and burn incense.12Then the Levites arose, Mahath the son of Amasai, and Joel the son of Azariah, of the sons of the Kohathites: and of the sons of Merari, Kish the son of Abdi, and Azariah the son of Jehalelel: and of the Gershonites; Joah the son of Zimmah, and Eden the son of Joah:13And of the sons of Elizaphan; Shimri, and Jeiel: and of the sons of Asaph; Zechariah, and Mattaniah:14And of the sons of Heman; Jehiel, and Shimei: and of the sons of Jeduthun; Shemaiah, and Uzziel.15And they gathered their brethren, and sanctified themselves, and came, according to the commandment of the king, by the words of the LORD, to cleanse the house of the LORD.16And the priests went into the inner part of the house of the LORD, to cleanse it , and brought out all the uncleanness that they found in the temple of the LORD into the court of the house of the LORD. And the Levites took it , to carry it out abroad into the brook Kidron.17Now they began on the first day of the first month to sanctify, and on the eighth day of the month came they to the porch of the LORD: so they sanctified the house of the LORD in eight days; and in the sixteenth day of the first month they made an end.18Then they went in to Hezekiah the king, and said, We have cleansed all the house of the LORD, and the altar of burnt offering, with all the vessels thereof, and the shewbread table, with all the vessels thereof.19Moreover all the vessels, which king Ahaz in his reign did cast away in his transgression, have we prepared and sanctified, and, behold, they are before the altar of the LORD.20Then Hezekiah the king rose early, and gathered the rulers of the city, and went up to the house of the LORD.21And they brought seven bullocks, and seven rams, and seven lambs, and seven he goats, for a sin offering for the kingdom, and for the sanctuary, and for Judah. And he commanded the priests the sons of Aaron to offer them on the altar of the LORD.22So they killed the bullocks, and the priests received the blood, and sprinkled it on the altar: likewise, when they had killed the rams, they sprinkled the blood upon the altar: they killed also the lambs, and they sprinkled the blood upon the altar.23And they brought forth the he goats for the sin offering before the king and the congregation; and they laid their hands upon them:24And the priests killed them, and they made reconciliation with their blood upon the altar, to make an atonement for all Israel: for the king commanded that the burnt offering and the sin offering should be made for all Israel.25And he set the Levites in the house of the LORD with cymbals, with psalteries, and with harps, according to the commandment of David, and of Gad the king' seer, and Nathan the prophet: for so was the commandment of the LORD by his prophets.26And the Levites stood with the instruments of David, and the priests with the trumpets.27And Hezekiah commanded to offer the burnt offering upon the altar. And when the burnt offering began, the song of the LORD began also with the trumpets, and with the instruments ordained by David king of Israel.28And all the congregation worshipped, and the singers sang, and the trumpeters sounded: and all this continued until the burnt offering was finished.29And when they had made an end of offering, the king and all that were present with him bowed themselves, and worshipped.30Moreover Hezekiah the king and the princes commanded the Levites to sing praise unto the LORD with the words of David, and of Asaph the seer. And they sang praises with gladness, and they bowed their heads and worshipped.31Then Hezekiah answered and said, Now ye have consecrated yourselves unto the LORD, come near and bring sacrifices and thank offerings into the house of the LORD. And the congregation brought in sacrifices and thank offerings; and as many as were of a free heart burnt offerings.32And the number of the burnt offerings, which the congregation brought, was threescore and ten bullocks, an hundred rams, and two hundred lambs: all these were for a burnt offering to the LORD.33And the consecrated things were six hundred oxen and three thousand sheep.34But the priests were too few, so that they could not flay all the burnt offerings: wherefore their brethren the Levites did help them, till the work was ended, and until the other priests had sanctified themselves: for the Levites were more upright in heart to sanctify themselves than the priests.35And also the burnt offerings were in abundance, with the fat of the peace offerings, and the drink offerings for every burnt offering. So the service of the house of the LORD was set in order.36And Hezekiah rejoiced, and all the people, that God had prepared the people: for the thing was done suddenly.
König Hiskia von Juda. Seine Gottesfurcht und die Wiederherstellung des Tempels

Heiligt euch jetzt und heiligt das Haus des HERRN, des Gottes eurer Väter, und schafft das Unreine aus dem Heiligtum hinaus! (1Ch 15:12; 2Ch 28:25; 2Ch 29:16; 2Ch 35:6; Ps 93:5; Isa 52:11; Isa 56:7; Jer 7:11; 2Co 6:2; Eph 5:5; 1Pe 4:17; Re 21:27)6Denn unsere Väter haben sich versündigt und getan, was böse ist in den Augen des HERRN, unseres Gottes, und haben ihn verlassen; denn sie haben ihr Angesicht von der Wohnung des HERRN abgewandt und ihr den Rücken gekehrt. (Ex 29:38; Ex 30:7; Le 24:2; Joh 3:19)8Daher ist der Zorn des HERRN über Juda und Jerusalem gekommen, und er hat sie der Misshandlung und Verwüstung preisgegeben, dass man sie auszischt, wie ihr mit euren Augen seht. (1Ki 9:8; 2Ch 24:18; 2Ch 34:25; Jer 18:16; Jer 25:17)9Denn siehe, eben deswegen sind unsere Väter durch das Schwert gefallen und unsere Söhne, unsere Töchter und unsere Frauen gefangen weggeführt worden! (Le 26:17; 2Ch 28:5; 2Ch 28:17; La 5:7)10Nun habe ich im Sinn, einen Bund zu machen mit dem HERRN, dem Gott Israels, damit sein brennender Zorn sich von uns abwendet. (1Sa 7:3; 2Ch 15:12; 2Ch 23:16; 2Ch 34:31; Isa 55:7; Jer 3:12)11Nun, meine Söhne, seid nicht nachlässig; denn euch hat der HERR erwählt, damit ihr vor ihm steht und ihm dient und damit ihr seine Knechte seid und ihm Räucherwerk darbringt! (Nu 3:6; 1Ch 6:49; Ezr 4:22; Ps 65:5; Jer 48:10; Joh 15:16)12Da machten sich die Leviten auf: Machat, der Sohn Amasais, und Joel, der Sohn Asarjas, von den Söhnen der Kahatiter; und von den Söhnen Meraris: Kis, der Sohn Abdis, und Asarja, der Sohn Jehallelels; und von den Gersonitern: Joach, der Sohn Simmas, und Eden, der Sohn Joachs; (1Ch 6:1)13und von den Söhnen Elizaphans: Simri und Jehiel, und von den Söhnen Asaphs: Sacharja und Mattanja; (Ex 6:22)14und von den Söhnen Hemans: Jechiel und Simei; und von den Söhnen Jeduthuns: Schemaja und Ussiel. (1Ch 6:18; 1Ch 15:17; 1Ch 25:1)15Und sie versammelten ihre Brüder und heiligten sich; und sie gingen nach dem Gebot des Königs und entsprechend den Worten des HERRN hinein, um das Haus des HERRN zu reinigen. (Le 19:30; 1Ch 23:28; Joh 17:19)16So gingen die Priester hinein in das Innere des Hauses des HERRN, um es zu reinigen, und schafften alles Unreine, das in der Tempelhalle des HERRN gefunden wurde, hinaus in den Vorhof am Haus des HERRN; und die Leviten nahmen es und trugen es hinaus zum Tal Kidron. (2Ki 23:4; 2Ch 15:16; Mt 3:12; Mt 21:12)17Und zwar begannen sie mit der Heiligung am ersten Tag des ersten Monats; und am achten Tag desselben Monats kamen sie in die Vorhalle des HERRN, und sie heiligten das Haus des HERRN acht Tage lang; und am sechzehnten Tag des ersten Monats wurden sie fertig. (1Ki 6:3; 2Ch 3:4)18Da gingen sie hinein zum König Hiskia und sprachen: Wir haben das ganze Haus des HERRN gereinigt, den Brandopferaltar und alle seine Geräte; auch den Schaubrottisch und alle seine Geräte; (2Ch 4:1; 2Ch 4:8; 2Ch 13:11)19auch alle Geräte, die der König Ahas während seiner Regierung entweiht hat, als er sich versündigte, haben wir wieder hergerichtet und geheiligt; und siehe, sie sind vor dem Altar des HERRN! (2Ch 28:24)
Die Wiederherstellung des Priesterdienstes
20Da machte sich der König Hiskia früh auf und versammelte die Obersten der Stadt und ging hinauf zum Haus des HERRN. (Ge 22:3; Ps 5:4; Ps 57:9)21Und sie brachten sieben Jungstiere, sieben Widder, sieben Lämmer und sieben Ziegenböcke herbei zum Sündopfer für das Königreich, für das Heiligtum und für Juda. Und er befahl den Söhnen Aarons, den Priestern, [sie] auf dem Altar des HERRN zu opfern. (Le 4:3; Le 4:13; Le 4:22; Le 4:31)22Da schächteten sie die Rinder, und die Priester nahmen das Blut und sprengten es an den Altar; und sie schächteten die Widder und sprengten das Blut an den Altar; und sie schächteten die Lämmer und sprengten das Blut an den Altar. (Le 4:18; Le 8:15; Le 8:19; Heb 9:21)23Und sie brachten die Böcke zum Sündopfer vor den König und die Gemeinde, und sie stützten ihre Hände auf sie. (Le 4:24)24Und die Priester schächteten sie und brachten ihr Blut zur Entsündigung auf den Altar, um für ganz Israel Sühnung zu erwirken; denn für ganz Israel hatte der König Brandopfer und Sündopfer befohlen. (Le 9:15; 1Jo 2:2)25Er ließ auch die Leviten sich im Haus des HERRN aufstellen mit Harfen und Lauten, wie es David und Gad, der Seher des Königs, und der Prophet Nathan befohlen hatten; denn es war das Gebot des HERRN durch seine Propheten. (2Sa 7:1; 1Ch 16:4; 1Ch 21:9; 2Ch 8:14; Ps 81:2; Ps 92:2; Ps 134:1; Ps 149:1; Ps 150:1)26Und die Leviten stellten sich auf mit den Musikinstrumenten Davids und die Priester mit den Trompeten. (1Ch 23:5; Isa 38:20; Am 6:5)27Und Hiskia befahl, das Brandopfer auf dem Altar zu opfern. Und als das Brandopfer begann, fing auch der Gesang für den HERRN an und das Spiel der Trompeten, zusammen mit den Musikinstrumenten Davids, des Königs von Israel. (Nu 10:10; 2Ch 7:3; 2Ch 20:21; 2Ch 23:18; Ps 136:1)28Und die ganze Gemeinde betete an; und die Sänger sangen, und die Trompeter schmetterten so lange, bis das Brandopfer vollendet war. (Ps 68:25; Re 5:8)29Als nun das Brandopfer vollendet war, kniete der König nieder samt allen, die sich bei ihm befanden, und sie beteten an. (2Ch 20:18; Ps 95:6; Ps 96:9)30Und der König Hiskia und die Obersten geboten den Leviten, den HERRN zu loben mit den Worten Davids und Asaphs, des Sehers. Und sie lobten mit Freuden und verneigten sich und beteten an. (1Ch 16:29; 2Ch 15:14; 2Ch 29:29; Ne 8:6; Ne 9:3; Ps 95:1; Ps 100:2; Mt 2:11)31Und Hiskia ergriff das Wort und sprach: Nun habt ihr euch dem HERRN geweiht. Tretet herzu und bringt die Schlachtopfer und Dankopfer zum Haus des HERRN! Da brachte die Gemeinde Schlachtopfer und Dankopfer dar, und alle, die willigen Herzens waren, brachten Brandopfer dar. (Le 7:11; Heb 10:22)32Und die Zahl der Brandopfer, welche die Gemeinde herzubrachte, betrug 70 Rinder, 100 Widder und 200 Lämmer; diese alle als Brandopfer für den HERRN. (1Ki 3:4; 1Ki 8:63; 1Ch 29:21; Ezr 6:17)33Zudem heiligten sie 600 Rinder und 3 000 Schafe.34Nur waren es zu wenig Priester, sodass sie nicht allen Brandopfern die Haut abziehen konnten; darum halfen ihnen ihre Brüder, die Leviten, bis das Werk vollendet war und bis sich die Priester geheiligt hatten; denn die Leviten waren ernstlicher darauf bedacht, sich zu heiligen als die Priester. (2Ch 30:3; 2Ch 35:11)35Es waren aber auch Brandopfer in Menge darzubringen, samt dem Fett der Friedensopfer und den Trankopfern zu den Brandopfern. So wurde der Dienst im Haus des HERRN wiederhergestellt. (Le 3:16; Nu 15:5)36Und Hiskia freute sich samt dem ganzen Volk über das, was Gott dem Volk zubereitet hatte; denn die Sache war sehr rasch vor sich gegangen. (1Ch 29:9; 1Ch 29:17; 2Ch 30:12; 2Ch 30:26; Ezr 6:22; Ne 8:10; 1Th 3:8)
