1Now Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. And Jehoram his son reigned in his stead.2And he had brethren the sons of Jehoshaphat, Azariah, and Jehiel, and Zechariah, and Azariah, and Michael, and Shephatiah: all these were the sons of Jehoshaphat king of Israel.3And their father gave them great gifts of silver, and of gold, and of precious things, with fenced cities in Judah: but the kingdom gave he to Jehoram; because he was the firstborn.4Now when Jehoram was risen up to the kingdom of his father, he strengthened himself, and slew all his brethren with the sword, and divers also of the princes of Israel.5Jehoram was thirty and two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.6And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, like as did the house of Ahab: for he had the daughter of Ahab to wife: and he wrought that which was evil in the eyes of the LORD.7Howbeit the LORD would not destroy the house of David, because of the covenant that he had made with David, and as he promised to give a light to him and to his sons for ever.8In his days the Edomites revolted from under the dominion of Judah, and made themselves a king.9Then Jehoram went forth with his princes, and all his chariots with him: and he rose up by night, and smote the Edomites which compassed him in, and the captains of the chariots.10So the Edomites revolted from under the hand of Judah unto this day. The same time also did Libnah revolt from under his hand; because he had forsaken the LORD God of his fathers.11Moreover he made high places in the mountains of Judah, and caused the inhabitants of Jerusalem to commit fornication, and compelled Judah thereto .12And there came a writing to him from Elijah the prophet, saying, Thus saith the LORD God of David thy father, Because thou hast not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat thy father, nor in the ways of Asa king of Judah,13But hast walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and hast made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to go a whoring, like to the whoredoms of the house of Ahab, and also hast slain thy brethren of thy father' house, which were better than thyself:14Behold, with a great plague will the LORD smite thy people, and thy children, and thy wives, and all thy goods:15And thou shalt have great sickness by disease of thy bowels, until thy bowels fall out by reason of the sickness day by day.16Moreover the LORD stirred up against Jehoram the spirit of the Philistines, and of the Arabians, that were near the Ethiopians:17And they came up into Judah, and brake into it, and carried away all the substance that was found in the king' house, and his sons also, and his wives; so that there was never a son left him, save Jehoahaz, the youngest of his sons.18And after all this the LORD smote him in his bowels with an incurable disease.19And it came to pass, that in process of time, after the end of two years, his bowels fell out by reason of his sickness: so he died of sore diseases. And his people made no burning for him, like the burning of his fathers.20Thirty and two years old was he when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years, and departed without being desired. Howbeit they buried him in the city of David, but not in the sepulchres of the kings.
König Joram von Juda. Seine Gottlosigkeit und sein Ende
1Und Josaphat legte sich zu seinen Vätern und wurde begraben bei seinen Vätern in der Stadt Davids. Und Joram, sein Sohn, wurde König an seiner Stelle. (1Ki 22:5; 2Ch 9:31; 2Ch 12:16; 2Ch 21:20)2Und er hatte Brüder, Söhne Josaphats, nämlich Asarja, Jechiel, Sacharja, Asarja, Michael und Sephatja. Diese alle waren Söhne Josaphats, des Königs von Israel.3Und ihr Vater machte ihnen reiche Geschenke von Silber, Gold und Kleinodien und gab ihnen feste Städte in Juda. Aber das Königreich gab er Joram, denn er war der Erstgeborene. (De 21:15; 2Ch 11:23)4Als aber Joram das Königreich seines Vaters übernommen hatte und mächtig geworden war, tötete er alle seine Brüder mit dem Schwert; dazu auch etliche von den Fürsten Israels. (Jud 9:5; Jud 9:56; 2Ch 21:13; 1Jo 3:12)5Joram war 32 Jahre alt, als er König wurde, und er regierte 8 Jahre lang in Jerusalem; (2Ki 8:17)6und er wandelte in dem Weg der Könige von Israel, wie es das Haus Ahabs getan hatte; denn er hatte eine Tochter Ahabs zur Frau. Und er tat, was böse war in den Augen des HERRN. (1Ki 16:29; 2Ki 8:16; 2Ch 18:1; 2Ch 22:2; Ne 13:25)7Aber der HERR wollte das Haus Davids nicht verderben, um des Bundes willen, den er mit David gemacht hatte, und weil er ihm verheißen hatte, dass er ihm und seinen Söhnen allezeit eine Leuchte geben werde. (2Sa 7:12; 2Sa 23:5; Ps 89:29; Ps 132:11; Ps 132:17; Jer 33:20; Lu 1:68)8Zu seiner Zeit fielen die Edomiter von der Oberherrschaft Judas ab und setzten einen König über sich. (1Ki 22:48; 2Ki 3:8; 2Ki 8:20)9Da zog Joram hinüber mit seinen Obersten und allen Streitwagen; und es geschah, als er sich bei Nacht aufmachte, schlug er die Edomiter, die ihn und die Obersten der Streitwagen umzingelt hatten. (2Ki 8:21)10Aber die Edomiter fielen von der Oberherrschaft Judas ab bis zu diesem Tag. Zu jener Zeit fiel auch Libna von ihm ab; denn er hatte den HERRN, den Gott seiner Väter, verlassen. (Jos 21:13; 2Ch 15:2; 2Ch 28:5; Jer 2:19)11Auch machte er Höhen auf den Bergen Judas und verführte die Bewohner Jerusalems zur Hurerei und brachte Juda auf Abwege. (Ex 34:16; De 31:16; 2Ch 21:6; 2Ch 21:13; Ps 78:58; Jer 3:8; Eze 16:25; Eze 20:28; Mt 18:6; 2Pe 2:1)12Es kam aber ein Schreiben zu ihm von dem Propheten Elia; das lautete folgendermaßen: »So spricht der HERR, der Gott deines Vaters David: Weil du nicht in den Wegen deines Vaters Josaphat gewandelt bist, noch in den Wegen Asas, des Königs von Juda, (2Ki 2:1; 2Ki 3:11; 2Ch 14:1; 2Ch 17:3; Pr 23:22; Jer 36:2)13sondern in dem Weg der Könige von Israel, und weil du Juda und die Bewohner Jerusalems zur Hurerei verführst, gleichwie das Haus Ahabs Hurerei einführte, und hast dazu deine Brüder aus dem Haus deines Vaters ermordet, die besser waren als du; (1Ki 16:30; 2Ch 21:4; 2Ch 21:11)14siehe, deshalb wird der HERR eine schwere Plage über dein Volk verhängen, auch über deine Kinder, deine Frauen und alle deine Habe. (Ex 20:5; Le 26:21; Ho 5:11; Mic 6:16)15Du aber wirst viel zu leiden haben an einer Krankheit in deinen Eingeweiden, bis deine Eingeweide nach langer Zeit infolge dieser Krankheit heraustreten werden!« (De 28:27; De 28:37; De 28:59; De 28:67; 2Ch 21:18)16Und der HERR erweckte gegen Joram den Geist der Philister und Araber, die neben den Kuschitern wohnen; (1Sa 7:3; 1Sa 14:21; 1Sa 17:48; 1Ki 11:14; 1Ki 11:23; 2Ch 17:11; Ezr 1:1)17und sie zogen herauf gegen Juda und brachen ein und führten allen Besitz hinweg, der im Haus des Königs vorhanden war; dazu seine Söhne und seine Frauen, sodass ihm kein Sohn übrig blieb, außer Joahas, seinem jüngsten Sohn. (2Ch 21:14; 2Ch 22:1; 2Ch 22:6)18Und nach alledem schlug ihn der HERR in seinen Eingeweiden mit einer unheilbaren Krankheit. (2Ch 21:15; Ac 12:23)19Und nach langer Zeit, und zwar am Ende von zwei Jahren, traten seine Eingeweide infolge seiner Krankheit heraus, und er starb unter schlimmen Schmerzen. Und sein Volk machte kein Feuer [ihm zu Ehren], wie man es für seine Väter getan hatte. (2Ch 16:14)20Mit 32 Jahren war er König geworden, und er regierte 8 Jahre lang in Jerusalem. Und er ging dahin, ohne bedauert zu werden, und man begrub ihn in der Stadt Davids, aber nicht in den Gräbern der Könige. (2Ch 28:27; 2Ch 33:20; Jer 22:18; Ac 9:39)
