1 To the chief Musician upon Gittith, A Psalm for the sons of Korah. How amiable are thy tabernacles, O LORD of hosts! 2 My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the LORD: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God. 3 Yea, the sparrow hath found an house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even thine altars, O LORD of hosts, my King, and my God. 4 Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: they will be still praising thee. Selah. 5 Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are the ways of them . 6 Who passing through the valley of Baca make it a well; the rain also filleth the pools. 7 They go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth before God. 8 O LORD God of hosts, hear my prayer: give ear, O God of Jacob. Selah. 9 Behold, O God our shield, and look upon the face of thine anointed. 10 For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. 11 For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. 12 O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.

Ein Psalm der Nachkommen Korachs. 2 Wie liebenswert sind deine Wohnungen, / Jahwe, allmächtiger Gott! 3 Meine Seele verzehrt sich in Sehnsucht / nach den Höfen im Tempel Jahwes. / Mein Herz und mein Leib, / sie jubeln dem lebendigen Gott zu. 4 Selbst der Vogel hat ein Haus gefunden, / die Schwalbe fand ein Nest für sich, in das sie ihre Jungen legt: / deine Altäre, Jahwe, Allmächtiger, / mein König und mein Gott. 5 Wie glücklich sind die, die in deinem Haus wohnen! / Immerzu loben sie dich. ♪ 6 Wie glücklich sind die, deren Stärke in dir ist, / die sich sehnen nach deiner Gegenwart! 7 Wenn sie durchs Tränental ziehen, / machen sie es zum Quellort, / und der Herbstregen hüllt es in Segen. 8 Mit jedem Schritt wächst ihre Kraft, / bis ihnen Gott auf dem Zion erscheint. 9 Jahwe, Gott, Allmächtiger, / hör mein Gebet! / Vernimm es bitte, Jakobs Gott! ♪ 10 Blick freundlich auf den König, unseren Schutz, / schau deinen Gesalbten wohlwollend an! 11 Denn ein Tag in den Höfen des Tempels / ist besser als tausend andere sonst. / Lieber will ich Torwächter im Haus meines Gottes sein, / als in den Zelten des Unrechts zu wohnen! 12 Denn Jahwe-Gott ist Sonne und Schild. / Jahwe schenkt Gnade und Ehre. / Denen, die aufrichtig sind, / verweigert er das Gute nicht. 13 Jahwe, Allmächtiger! / Glücklich der Mensch, der auf dich vertraut!

Je soupire après ton temple

1 Au chef de chœur. Un psaume des Qoréites^[1], à chanter avec accompagnement de la harpe de Gath^[2]. (Ps 8:1; Ps 42:1) 2 Oh! Comme tes demeures sont désirables! Eternel, ╵Seigneur des armées célestes! 3 Je languis et je soupire, ╵Eternel, après tes parvis, mon être entier crie sa joie ╵vers le Dieu vivant. 4 Le moineau découvre un gîte, l’hirondelle trouve un nid ╵où déposer ses petits, près de tes autels, ╵Eternel, ╵Seigneur des armées célestes, mon Roi et mon Dieu! 5 Bienheureux ceux qui habitent ╵ta maison, car ils pourront te louer toujours. Pause 6 Bienheureux les hommes ╵dont tu es la force: dans leur cœur, ils trouvent ╵des chemins tracés. 7 Car lorsqu’ils traversent ╵la vallée des Larmes^[3], ils en font une oasis^[4], et la pluie d’automne ╵vient la recouvrir ╵de bénédictions^[5]. 8 D’étape en étape, ╵leur vigueur s’accroît et ils se présentent ╵à Dieu en Sion. 9 Eternel, ╵ô Dieu des armées célestes, ╵entends ma prière! Veuille m’écouter, ╵ô Dieu de Jacob! Pause 10 Toi, ô Dieu, qui es ╵notre bouclier, ╵veuille regarder l’homme qui a reçu de ta part ╵l’onction d’huile, ╵et lui faire bon accueil^[6]. 11 Car un jour dans tes parvis ╵vaut bien mieux que mille ailleurs. Plutôt rester sur le seuil ╵de la maison de mon Dieu, que de demeurer ╵sous les tentes des méchants. 12 Car l’Eternel Dieu ╵est pour nous comme un soleil, ╵il est comme un bouclier. L’Eternel accorde ╵bienveillance et gloire, il ne refuse aucun bien à ceux qui cheminent ╵dans l’intégrité. 13 Eternel, ╵Seigneur des armées célestes, bienheureux est l’homme ╵qui met sa confiance en toi.
