1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. 2 Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. 3 There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. 4 Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun, 5 Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race. 6 His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof. 7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. 8 The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. 9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. 10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. 11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward. 12 Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults . 13 Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins ; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression. 14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

Gottes Schöpfung und Gottes Gesetz

1 Dem Chorleiter. Ein Psalmlied von David. 2 Der Himmel rühmt die Herrlichkeit Gottes, / und die Wölbung bezeugt des Schöpfers Hand. 3 Ein Tag sprudelt es dem anderen zu, / und eine Nacht gibt der nächsten die Kunde davon. 4 Sie sagen kein Wort, / man hört keinen Laut; 5 und doch geht ein Klingen über die Erde, / ein Raunen bis zum Ende der Welt.^[1] Und am Himmel hat er die Sonne hingestellt. (Ro 10:18) 6 Wie ein Bräutigam am Hochzeitstag kommt sie hervor / und wie ein strahlender Sieger betritt sie die Bahn. 7 An einem Ende des Himmels geht sie auf / und läuft hinüber bis zum anderen Rand. / Nichts bleibt ihrem feurigen Auge verhüllt. 8 Das Gesetz Jahwes ist vollkommen, / es gibt dem Leben neue Kraft. / Das Zeugnis Jahwes ist verlässlich / und macht den Einfältigen klug. 9 Die Befehle Jahwes sind richtig, / sie erfreuen das Herz. / Das Gebot Jahwes ist ganz rein, / es schenkt einen klaren Blick. 10 Die Ehrfurcht vor Jahwe ist echt / und hat für immer Bestand. / Die Bestimmungen Jahwes sind wahr, / und sie sind alle gerecht 11 und wertvoller als das reinste Gold / und süßer als der beste Honig. 12 Auch dein Diener ist durch sie gewarnt; / und jeder, der sie befolgt, wird reich belohnt. 13 Wer kann schon merken, wie oft er versagt? / Vergib mir auch die verborgene Schuld! 14 Und halte mich vor dem Hochmut zurück, / dass er nie über mich herrscht! / Dann stehe ich ohne Tadel da / und werde vor großem Unrecht bewahrt. 15 Mögen die Worte, die ich sage, / und die Gedanken, die ich fasse, / dir gefallen, / Jahwe, mein Fels und mein Erlöser.

Les deux révélations de Dieu

1 Au chef de chœur; cantique de David. 2 Tous les cieux proclament ╵combien Dieu ╵est glorieux, l’étendue céleste ╵publie l’œuvre de ses mains. 3 Un jour en informe un autre, une nuit à l’autre nuit ╵en transmet la connaissance. 4 Ce ne sont pas des paroles, ╵ce ne sont pas des discours, ni des voix qu’on peut entendre^[1]. 5 Cependant, leur voix^[2] parvient ╵à toute la terre, et leurs accents aux confins du monde^[3]. Là, Dieu a dressé ╵pour le soleil une tente. (Ro 10:18) 6 Comme un jeune époux ╵sortant de sa chambre, comme un guerrier qui s’avance ╵le soleil s’élance, ╵joyeux de prendre sa course. 7 D’une extrémité du ciel, ╵il surgit, et son parcours se prolonge ╵jusqu’à l’autre extrémité; il n’est rien qui se dérobe ╵à l’ardeur de ses rayons. 8 La Loi de l’Eternel est parfaite, ╵elle nous redonne vie. L’acte de l’alliance de l’Eternel ╵est digne de confiance, ╵et aux gens inexpérimentés ╵elle donne la sagesse. 9 Les décrets de l’Eternel sont justes ╵et ils font la joie du cœur; les commandements de l’Eternel ╵sont limpides ╵et ils donnent du discernement. 10 La crainte de l’Eternel est pure, ╵elle subsiste à jamais; les règles de droit ╵édictées par l’Eternel ╵sont justes toutes ensemble. 11 Elles sont plus désirables que de l’or, ╵que beaucoup d’or pur, et plus savoureuses que le miel ╵le plus doux coulant des ruches. 12 Ton serviteur, Eternel, ╵en tire instruction: à leur obéir, ╵on recueille un grand profit. 13 Qui peut discerner tous ses faux pas? Pardonne-moi les péchés ╵dont je n’ai pas conscience. 14 Garde aussi ton serviteur ╵des pensées d’orgueil: qu’elles n’aient sur moi ╵pas la moindre emprise! Alors je serai intègre, ╵innocent de grandes fautes. 15 Veuille agréer mes paroles, et la méditation de mon cœur, ô Eternel, mon Rocher, ╵mon Libérateur.
