1 And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret, 2 And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets. 3 And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon's, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship. 4 Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. 5 And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net. 6 And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake. 7 And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink. 8 When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord. 9 For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken: 10 And so was also James, and John, the sons of Zebedee, which were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men. 11 And when they had brought their ships to land, they forsook all, and followed him. 12 And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. 13 And he put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will: be thou clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him. 14 And he charged him to tell no man: but go, and shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing, according as Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them. 15 But so much the more went there a fame abroad of him: and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities. 16 And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed. 17 And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them. 18 And, behold, men brought in a bed a man which was taken with a palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him. 19 And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus. 20 And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee. 21 And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone? 22 But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answering said unto them, What reason ye in your hearts? 23 Whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk? 24 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house. 25 And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his own house, glorifying God. 26 And they were all amazed, and they glorified God, and were filled with fear, saying, We have seen strange things to day. 27 And after these things he went forth, and saw a publican, named Levi, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he said unto him, Follow me. 28 And he left all, rose up, and followed him. 29 And Levi made him a great feast in his own house: and there was a great company of publicans and of others that sat down with them. 30 But their scribes and Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with publicans and sinners? 31 And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick. 32 I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. 33 And they said unto him, Why do the disciples of John fast often, and make prayers, and likewise the disciples of the Pharisees; but thine eat and drink? 34 And he said unto them, Can ye make the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them? 35 But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days. 36 And he spake also a parable unto them; No man putteth a piece of a new garment upon an old; if otherwise, then both the new maketh a rent, and the piece that was taken out of the new agreeth not with the old. 37 And no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish. 38 But new wine must be put into new bottles; and both are preserved. 39 No man also having drunk old wine straightway desireth new: for he saith, The old is better.

Die ersten Jünger

1 Eines Tages stand Jesus am Ufer des Sees Gennesaret. Die Menschen drängten sich um ihn und wollten das Wort Gottes hören. 2 Da bemerkte er zwei Boote am Ufer. Die Fischer waren ausgestiegen und reinigten ihre Netze. 3 Jesus stieg in eins der Boote, das Simon gehörte, und bat ihn, ein Stück auf den See hinauszufahren. So konnte er sich setzen und die Menge vom Boot aus unterweisen. 4 Als er aufgehört hatte zu reden, sagte er zu Simon: „Fahr hinaus auf den See und wirf mit deinen Leuten die Netze zum Fang aus!“ 5 „Aber Rabbi“, wandte Simon ein, „wir haben uns die ganze Nacht abgemüht und nichts gefangen. Doch weil du es sagst, will ich die Netze noch einmal auswerfen.“ 6 Als sie es dann getan hatten, umschlossen sie eine solche Menge Fische, dass die Netze zu reißen begannen. 7 Deshalb winkten sie ihren Mitarbeitern im anderen Boot, sie sollten kommen und ihnen helfen. Zusammen füllten sie beide Boote bis zum Rand, sodass sie fast sanken. 8 Als Simon Petrus das sah, kniete er sich vor Jesus hin und sagte: „Herr, geh weg von mir! Ich bin ein sündiger Mensch!“ 9 Denn er und seine Begleiter waren tief erschrocken, weil sie einen solchen Fang gemacht hatten. 10 Und genauso ging es Jakobus und Johannes, den Söhnen von Zebedäus, die mit Simon zusammenarbeiteten. Doch Jesus sagte zu Simon: „Du musst dich nicht fürchten. Von jetzt an wirst du ein Menschenfischer sein.“ 11 Dann zogen sie die Boote an Land, ließen alles zurück und folgten Jesus.

Ein Beweis für die Priester

12 In einer der Städte war ein Mann, der am ganzen Körper Aussatz^[1] hatte. Als der Jesus sah, warf er sich vor ihm nieder, das Gesicht auf dem Boden, und bat ihn flehentlich: „Herr, wenn du willst, kannst du mich rein machen.“ 13 Da berührte Jesus ihn mit seiner Hand und sagte: „Ich will es, sei rein!“ Sofort verschwand der Aussatz. 14 Jesus verbot dem Geheilten, mit jemand darüber zu sprechen. „Geh stattdessen zum Priester“, sagte er, „zeig dich ihm, und bring das Opfer für deine Reinigung, wie Mose es angeordnet hat. Das soll ein Zeichen Gottes für sie sein.“ 15 Doch die Nachricht von Jesus verbreitete sich umso mehr. Die Menschen strömten in Scharen herbei, um ihn zu hören und von ihren Krankheiten geheilt zu werden. 16 Jesus aber zog sich in die Einsamkeit zurück, um zu beten.

Jesus darf Sünden vergeben

17 Eines Tages, als Jesus wieder lehrte, saßen unter den Zuhörern auch Pharisäer^[2] und Gesetzeslehrer. Sie waren aus allen Dörfern Galiläas, aus Judäa und Jerusalem gekommen. Und die Kraft des Herrn war da, sodass er heilen konnte. 18 Da brachten Männer einen Gelähmten auf einer Matte herbei. Sie wollten ihn ins Haus hineintragen und vor Jesus hinlegen. 19 Weil sie aber wegen des Gedränges der Leute keinen Weg fanden, wie sie ihn hineinbringen sollten, stiegen sie aufs Dach und ließen ihn auf seiner Matte durch die Ziegel hinunter, mitten unter sie, genau vor Jesus. 20 Als Jesus ihren Glauben sah, sagte er zu dem Mann: „Deine Sünden sind dir vergeben.“ 21 Die Gesetzeslehrer und Pharisäer fragten sich empört: „Was bildet der sich ein? Das ist ja Gotteslästerung! Niemand kann Sünden vergeben außer Gott!“ 22 Jesus wusste, was sie dachten, und fragte sie: „Was macht ihr euch da für Gedanken? 23 Was ist leichter – zu sagen: 'Deine Sünden sind dir vergeben' oder: 'Steh auf und geh!'? 24 Doch ihr sollt sehen, dass der Menschensohn^[3] die Vollmacht hat, hier auf der Erde Sünden zu vergeben!“ Dann wandte er sich zu dem Gelähmten und sagte: „Ich befehle dir: Steh auf, nimm deine Matte und geh nach Hause!“ (Da 7:13) 25 Sofort stand der Mann auf, nahm vor aller Augen die Matte, auf der er gelegen hatte, und ging nach Hause. Dabei pries er Gott unaufhörlich. 26 Alle gerieten außer sich, lobten Gott und sagten voller Furcht: „Unglaubliches haben wir heute gesehen.“

Neuer Wein in neue Schläuche

27 Später, als Jesus die Stadt verließ, sah er einen Zolleinnehmer am Zollhaus sitzen. Er hieß Levi. Jesus sagte zu ihm: „Komm, folge mir!“ 28 Da ließ Levi alles zurück. Er stand auf und folgte Jesus. 29 Später gab er ihm zu Ehren ein großes Festessen in seinem Haus und lud dazu noch viele Zolleinnehmer und andere ein. 30 Aber die Pharisäer und die Gesetzeslehrer, die zu ihrer Partei gehörten, sagten ärgerlich zu den Jüngern von Jesus: „Wie könnt ihr nur mit Steuereintreibern und diesem Gesindel zusammen essen und trinken!“ 31 Da antwortete Jesus ihnen und sagte: „Nicht die Gesunden brauchen den Arzt, sondern die Kranken. 32 Ich bin nicht gekommen, um Gerechten zu sagen, dass sie ihre Einstellung ändern müssen, sondern Sündern.“ 33 Daraufhin sagten sie zu Jesus: „Die Jünger des Johannes fasten oft und beten viel. Die der Pharisäer tun das auch, aber deine Jünger essen und trinken.“ 34 Jesus erwiderte: „Könnt ihr die Hochzeitsgäste denn fasten lassen, wenn der Bräutigam bei ihnen ist? 35 Die Zeit kommt früh genug, dass der Bräutigam ihnen entrissen wird; dann werden sie fasten.“ 36 Er machte es ihnen auch noch mit einem Vergleich deutlich: „Niemand schneidet ein Stück Stoff aus einem neuen Kleid, um damit ein altes zu flicken. Dann hätte er das neue Kleid zerschnitten und das Stück würde ja auch nicht zu dem alten passen. 37 Und niemand füllt jungen Wein, ‹der noch gärt›, in alte Weinschläuche. Der Wein würde die Schläuche zerreißen und auslaufen. So wären Wein und Schläuche verdorben. 38 Nein, jungen Wein füllt man in neue Schläuche! 39 Doch niemand, der alten Wein getrunken hat, will anschließend neuen. 'Der alte ist besser', wird er sagen.“

Les premiers disciples

1 Un jour, alors que Jésus se tenait sur les bords du lac de Génésareth^[1] et que la foule se pressait autour de lui pour écouter la Parole de Dieu, (Mt 4:18; Mr 1:16) 2 il vit deux bateaux au bord du lac. Les pêcheurs en étaient descendus et nettoyaient leurs filets. 3 L’un de ces bateaux appartenait à Simon. Jésus y monta et lui demanda de s’éloigner un peu du rivage, puis il s’assit dans le bateau et se mit à enseigner la foule. 4 Quand il eut fini de parler, il dit à Simon: Avance vers le large, en eau profonde, puis vous jetterez vos filets pour pêcher. 5 – Maître, lui répondit Simon, nous avons travaillé toute la nuit et nous n’avons rien pris. Mais, puisque tu me le demandes, je jetterai les filets. 6 Ils les jetèrent et prirent tant de poissons que leurs filets menaçaient de se déchirer. 7 Alors ils firent signe à leurs associés, dans l’autre bateau, de venir les aider. Ceux-ci arrivèrent, et l’on remplit les deux bateaux, au point qu’ils enfonçaient. 8 En voyant cela, Simon Pierre se jeta aux pieds de Jésus et lui dit: Seigneur, éloigne-toi de moi, car je suis un homme pécheur. 9 En effet, il était saisi d’effroi, ainsi que tous ses compagnons, devant la pêche extraordinaire qu’ils venaient de faire. 10 Il en était de même de Jacques et de Jean, fils de Zébédée, les associés de Simon. Alors Jésus dit à Simon: N’aie pas peur! A partir de maintenant, ce sont des hommes que tu attraperas. 11 Dès qu’ils eurent ramené leurs bateaux au rivage, ils laissèrent tout et suivirent Jésus.

Jésus guérit des malades et pardonne les péchés

12 Un autre jour, alors qu’il se trouvait dans une ville, survint un homme couvert de lèpre. En voyant Jésus, il se prosterna devant lui, face contre terre, et lui adressa cette prière: Seigneur, si tu le veux, tu peux me rendre pur. (Mt 8:1; Mr 1:40) 13 Jésus tendit la main et le toucha en disant: Je le veux, sois pur. Aussitôt, la lèpre le quitta. 14 Alors Jésus lui recommanda de ne le dire à personne. – Mais, lui dit-il, va te faire examiner par le prêtre et, pour ta purification, offre ce que Moïse a prescrit. Cela leur servira de témoignage^[2]. 15 La réputation de Jésus se répandait de plus en plus. Aussi, de grandes foules affluaient pour l’entendre et pour se faire guérir de leurs maladies. 16 Mais lui se retirait dans des lieux déserts pour prier. (Mt 9:1; Mr 2:1) 17 Un jour, il était en train d’enseigner. Des pharisiens et des enseignants de la Loi étaient assis dans l’auditoire. Ils étaient venus de tous les villages de Galilée et de Judée ainsi que de Jérusalem. La puissance du Seigneur se manifestait par les guérisons que Jésus opérait. 18 Voilà que survinrent des hommes qui portaient un paralysé sur un brancard. Ils cherchaient à le faire entrer dans la maison pour le déposer devant Jésus 19 mais ils ne trouvèrent pas moyen de parvenir jusqu’à lui, à cause de la foule. Alors ils montèrent sur le toit, ménagèrent une ouverture dans les tuiles et firent descendre le paralysé sur le brancard en plein milieu de l’assistance, juste devant Jésus. 20 Lorsqu’il vit la foi de ces gens, Jésus dit: Mon ami, tes péchés te sont pardonnés. 21 Les spécialistes de la Loi et les pharisiens se mirent à raisonner et à dire: Qui est donc cet homme qui prononce des paroles blasphématoires? Qui peut pardonner les péchés, si ce n’est Dieu seul? 22 Mais Jésus connaissait leurs raisonnements. Il leur dit: Pourquoi raisonnez-vous ainsi en vous-mêmes? 23 Qu’est-ce qui est le plus facile? Dire: « Tes péchés te sont pardonnés », ou dire: « Lève-toi et marche »? 24 Eh bien, vous saurez que le Fils de l’homme a, sur la terre, le pouvoir de pardonner les péchés. Il déclara au paralysé: Je te l’ordonne: lève-toi, prends ton brancard, et rentre chez toi! 25 Aussitôt, devant tout le monde, l’homme se leva, prit le brancard sur lequel il était couché et s’en alla chez lui en rendant gloire à Dieu. 26 Tous furent saisis de stupéfaction. Ils rendaient gloire à Dieu et, remplis de crainte, disaient: Nous avons vu aujourd’hui des choses extraordinaires!

Jésus est contesté

27 Après cela, Jésus s’en alla et vit, en passant, un collecteur d’impôts nommé Lévi, installé à son poste de péage. Il l’appela en disant: Suis-moi! (Mt 9:9; Mr 2:13) 28 Cet homme se leva, laissa tout et suivit Jésus. 29 Lévi organisa, dans sa maison, une grande réception en l’honneur de Jésus. De nombreuses personnes étaient à table avec eux, et, parmi elles, des collecteurs d’impôts. 30 Les pharisiens, et les spécialistes de la Loi qui appartenaient à leur parti s’indignaient et interpellèrent les disciples de Jésus: Comment pouvez-vous manger et boire avec ces collecteurs d’impôts, ces pécheurs notoires? 31 Jésus leur répondit: Ceux qui sont en bonne santé n’ont pas besoin de médecin, ce sont les malades qui en ont besoin. 32 Ce ne sont pas des justes, mais des pécheurs que je suis venu appeler à changer.

Le neuf et l’ancien

33 Certains lui demandèrent: Les disciples de Jean, comme ceux des pharisiens, jeûnent fréquemment et font des prières, alors que les tiens mangent et boivent. (Mt 9:14; Mr 2:18) 34 Jésus leur répondit: Comment les invités d’une noce peuvent-ils jeûner pendant que le marié est avec eux? 35 Le temps viendra où celui-ci leur sera enlevé. Alors, en ces jours-là, ils jeûneront. 36 Et il utilisa la parabole suivante: Personne ne coupe un morceau d’un habit neuf pour rapiécer un vieux vêtement. Sinon on abîme l’habit neuf, et la pièce d’étoffe qu’on y aura découpée ne va pas avec le vieil habit. 37 De même, personne ne met dans de vieilles outres du vin nouveau, sinon le vin nouveau les fait éclater, il se répand, et les outres sont perdues. 38 Non, il faut mettre le vin nouveau dans des outres neuves. 39 Bien sûr, quand on a bu du vin vieux, on n’en désire pas du nouveau; en effet, on se dit: le vieux est meilleur.
