1Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.2For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law.3For I was my father' son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother.4He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live.5Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.6Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.7Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.8Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.9She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.10Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many.11I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths.12When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.13Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.14Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men .15Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.16For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.17For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.18But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.19The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.20My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.21Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.22For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.23Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.24Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.25Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.26Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.27Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.
1Ascultați, fiilor, îndrumarea unui tată; fiți atenți și veți dobândi pricepere!2Căci eu vă dau o îndrumare[1] bună; să nu părăsiți învățătura mea! (Pr 1:5; Pr 7:21; Pr 9:9)3Pe când eram fiu la tatăl meu, gingaș și singurul fiu înaintea mamei mele,4mă învăța și‑mi zicea: „Să păstreze inima ta cuvintele mele; păzește poruncile mele și vei trăi!5Dobândește înțelepciunea, dobândește priceperea! Nu uita și nu te îndepărta de cuvintele gurii mele!6Nu părăsi înțelepciunea, și ea te va păzi! Iubește‑o, și ea te va proteja!7Iată începutul înțelepciunii: dobândește înțelepciune și, cu toată averea ta, dobândește pricepere!8Înalț‑o, și ea te va înălța; îmbrățișeaz‑o, și ea îți va aduce onoare!9Ea îți va așeza pe cap o cunună plăcută, îți va oferi o coroană frumoasă.“10Ascultă, fiule, primește cuvintele mele, iar anii vieții tale se vor înmulți!11Eu te voi învăța calea înțelepciunii și te voi conduce pe cărările dreptății.12Când vei merge, pașii nu‑ți vor fi stânjeniți, iar când vei alerga, nu te vei împiedica.13Ține‑te de îndrumare, nu îi da drumul! Păstreaz‑o, căci ea este viața ta!14Nu intra pe cărarea celor ticăloși și nu merge pe calea celor răi!15Evit‑o, nu trece pe ea! Întoarce‑te de pe ea și treci mai departe!16Căci ei nu dorm dacă n‑au făcut rău; le piere somnul dacă nu fac pe cineva să cadă.17Ei mănâncă pâinea răutății și beau vinul violenței.18Dar cărarea celor drepți este ca lumina zorilor, a cărei strălucire crește până ajunge la lumina zilei.19Calea celor răi este ca întunericul; ei nu știu din ce cauză se vor împiedica.20Fiule, fii atent la cuvintele mele; pleacă‑ți urechea la spusele mele!21Să nu se depărteze de ochii tăi; păstrează‑le în adâncul inimii tale.22Căci ele sunt viață pentru cei ce le găsesc și vindecare pentru tot trupul lor.23Păzește‑ți inima cu toată atenția, căci din ea ies izvoarele vieții!24Îndepărtează înșelăciunea din gura ta și înlătură viclenia de pe buzele tale!25Ochii tăi să privească înainte, și pleoapele tale să țintească drept înaintea ta.26Netezește cărarea picioarelor tale, și toate căile tale vor fi sigure.27Nu te abate nici la dreapta, nici la stânga! Îndepărtează‑ți piciorul de la rău!
