1Thus saith the LORD, Where is the bill of your mother' divorcement, whom I have put away? or which of my creditors is it to whom I have sold you? Behold, for your iniquities have ye sold yourselves, and for your transgressions is your mother put away.2Wherefore, when I came, was there no man? when I called, was there none to answer? Is my hand shortened at all, that it cannot redeem? or have I no power to deliver? behold, at my rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness: their fish stinketh, because there is no water, and dieth for thirst.3I clothe the heavens with blackness, and I make sackcloth their covering.4The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.5The Lord GOD hath opened mine ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back.6I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.7For the Lord GOD will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.8He is near that justifieth me; who will contend with me? let us stand together: who is mine adversary? let him come near to me.9Behold, the Lord GOD will help me; who is he that shall condemn me? lo, they all shall wax old as a garment; the moth shall eat them up.10Who is among you that feareth the LORD, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? let him trust in the name of the LORD, and stay upon his God.11Behold, all ye that kindle a fire, that compass yourselves about with sparks: walk in the light of your fire, and in the sparks that ye have kindled. This shall ye have of mine hand; ye shall lie down in sorrow.
1Așa vorbește DOMNUL: „Unde este acea scrisoare de despărțire a mamei voastre prin care am izgonit‑o? Sau căruia dintre creditorii Mei v‑am vândut Eu? Iată, din cauza nelegiuirilor voastre ați fost vânduți și din cauza fărădelegilor voastre a fost izgonită mama voastră.2De ce, când am venit, n‑a mai fost nimeni acolo? De ce, când am strigat, n‑a răspuns nimeni? A fost oare mâna Mea prea scurtă pentru a vă răscumpăra? Nu am avut Eu oare putere pentru a vă elibera? Iată, cu mustrarea Mea, pot să sec marea și să prefac râurile în pustie; peștii lor putrezesc din lipsă de apă și mor de sete.3Eu îmbrac cerurile în întuneric, prefăcând în sac învelitoarea lor.“4„Stăpânul DOMN Mi‑a dăruit o limbă iscusită ca să știu să sprijin cu vorba pe cel obosit. El Îmi trezește, în fiecare dimineață, El Îmi trezește urechea, ca să ascult asemenea unor ucenici.5Stăpânul DOMN Mi‑a deschis urechea, iar Eu nu M‑am împotrivit, nu I‑am întors spatele.6Mi‑am dat spatele celor ce Mă loveau și obrajii celor ce‑Mi smulgeau barba; nu Mi‑am ascuns fața de insulte și de scuipat.7Stăpânul DOMN Îmi vine în ajutor, de aceea nu voi fi făcut de rușine. De aceea Mi‑am făcut fața ca de cremene, știind că nu voi fi dat de rușine.8Cel Ce Mă îndreptățește este aproape! Cine îndrăznește să Mă acuze? Să ne înfățișăm împreună! Unde este cel ce Mă acuză? Să Mă confrunte!9Iată, Stăpânul DOMN Îmi vine în ajutor! Cine îndrăznește să Mă condamne? Iată, toți se vor învechi ca o haină, iar molia îi va mânca.10Care dintre voi se teme de DOMNUL și ascultă de glasul Robului Său? Cel ce umblă în întuneric și nu are lumină, să se încreadă în Numele DOMNULUI și să se sprijine pe Dumnezeul său!11Iată, voi toți care aprindeți un foc și purtați torțe aprinse, umblați, dar în lumina focului vostru și a torțelor pe care le‑ați aprins! Aceasta veți primi din mâna Mea: veți zăcea într‑un loc al durerii.
