1There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.2For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.3For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:4That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.5For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.6For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.7Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.8So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.9But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.10And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.11But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.12Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.13For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.14For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.15For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.16The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:17And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.18For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.19For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.20For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,21Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.22For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.23And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.24For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?25But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.26Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.27And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.28And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.29For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.30Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.31What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?32He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?33Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.34Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.35Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?36As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.37Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.38For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,39Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
1So gibt es nun keine Verdammnis für die, die in Christus Jesus sind.2Denn das Gesetz des Geistes, der lebendig macht in Christus Jesus, hat dich frei gemacht von dem Gesetz der Sünde und des Todes.3Denn was dem Gesetz unmöglich war, weil es durch das Fleisch geschwächt war, das tat Gott: Er sandte seinen Sohn in der Gestalt des sündigen Fleisches und um der Sünde willen und verdammte die Sünde im Fleisch, (Ac 13:38; Heb 2:17)4damit die Gerechtigkeit, die das Gesetz fordert, in uns erfüllt werde, die wir nun nicht nach dem Fleisch wandeln, sondern nach dem Geist. (Ga 5:16; Ga 5:25)5Denn die da fleischlich sind, die sind fleischlich gesinnt; die aber geistlich sind, die sind geistlich gesinnt.6Denn fleischlich gesinnt sein ist der Tod, doch geistlich gesinnt sein ist Leben und Friede. (Ro 6:21; Ga 6:8)7Denn fleischlich gesinnt sein ist Feindschaft gegen Gott, weil das Fleisch sich dem Gesetz Gottes nicht unterwirft; denn es vermag’s auch nicht. (Jas 4:4)8Die aber fleischlich sind, können Gott nicht gefallen.9Ihr aber seid nicht fleischlich, sondern geistlich, da ja Gottes Geist in euch wohnt. Wer aber Christi Geist nicht hat, der ist nicht sein.10Wenn aber Christus in euch ist, so ist der Leib zwar tot um der Sünde willen, der Geist aber ist Leben um der Gerechtigkeit willen. (Ga 2:20)11Wenn aber der Geist dessen, der Jesus von den Toten auferweckt hat, in euch wohnt, so wird er, der Christus von den Toten auferweckt hat, auch eure sterblichen Leiber lebendig machen durch seinen Geist, der in euch wohnt. (Ro 4:24)12So sind wir nun, liebe Brüder und Schwestern, nicht dem Fleisch schuldig, dass wir nach dem Fleisch leben.13Denn wenn ihr nach dem Fleisch lebt, so werdet ihr sterben müssen; wenn ihr aber durch den Geist die Taten des Leibes tötet, so werdet ihr leben. (Ga 6:8)14Denn welche der Geist Gottes treibt, die sind Gottes Kinder. (Ga 3:26)15Denn ihr habt nicht einen Geist der Knechtschaft empfangen, dass ihr euch abermals fürchten müsstet; sondern ihr habt einen Geist der Kindschaft empfangen, durch den wir rufen: Abba, lieber Vater! (Ga 4:5; 2Ti 1:7)16Der Geist selbst gibt Zeugnis unserm Geist, dass wir Gottes Kinder sind.17Sind wir aber Kinder, so sind wir auch Erben, nämlich Gottes Erben und Miterben Christi, da wir ja mit ihm leiden, damit wir auch mit ihm zur Herrlichkeit erhoben werden. (Ga 4:7; Re 21:7)
Hoffnung für die Schöpfung
18Denn ich bin überzeugt, dass dieser Zeit Leiden nicht ins Gewicht fallen gegenüber der Herrlichkeit, die an uns offenbart werden soll. (2Co 4:17)19Denn das ängstliche[1] Harren der Kreatur wartet darauf, dass die Kinder Gottes offenbar werden. (Col 3:4; 1Jo 3:2)20Die Schöpfung ist ja unterworfen der Vergänglichkeit – ohne ihren Willen, sondern durch den, der sie unterworfen hat –, doch auf Hoffnung; (Ec 1:4)21denn auch die Schöpfung wird frei werden von der Knechtschaft der Vergänglichkeit zu der herrlichen Freiheit der Kinder Gottes.22Denn wir wissen, dass die ganze Schöpfung bis zu diesem Augenblick seufzt und in Wehen liegt.
Die Gewissheit des Heils
23Nicht allein aber sie, sondern auch wir selbst, die wir den Geist als Erstlingsgabe haben, seufzen in uns selbst und sehnen uns nach der Kindschaft, der Erlösung unseres Leibes. (2Co 5:2)24Denn wir sind gerettet auf Hoffnung hin. Die Hoffnung aber, die man sieht, ist nicht Hoffnung; denn wie kann man auf das hoffen, was man sieht? (2Co 5:7)25Wenn wir aber auf das hoffen, was wir nicht sehen, so warten wir darauf in Geduld. (Ga 5:5)26Desgleichen hilft auch der Geist unsrer Schwachheit auf. Denn wir wissen nicht, was wir beten sollen, wie sich’s gebührt, sondern der Geist selbst tritt für uns ein mit unaussprechlichem Seufzen.27Der aber die Herzen erforscht, der weiß, worauf der Sinn des Geistes gerichtet ist; denn er tritt für die Heiligen ein, wie Gott es will.28Wir wissen aber, dass denen, die Gott lieben, alle Dinge zum Besten dienen, denen, die nach seinem Ratschluss berufen sind. (Eph 1:11)29Denn die er ausersehen hat, die hat er auch vorherbestimmt, dass sie gleich sein sollten dem Bild seines Sohnes, damit dieser der Erstgeborene sei unter vielen Brüdern. (Col 1:18; Heb 1:6)30Die er aber vorherbestimmt hat, die hat er auch berufen; die er aber berufen hat, die hat er auch gerecht gemacht; die er aber gerecht gemacht hat, die hat er auch verherrlicht. (Ro 3:26; 2Th 2:13)31Was wollen wir nun hierzu sagen? Ist Gott für uns, wer kann wider uns sein? (Ps 118:6)32Der auch seinen eigenen Sohn nicht verschont hat, sondern hat ihn für uns alle dahingegeben – wie sollte er uns mit ihm nicht alles schenken? (Ge 22:16; Joh 3:16)33Wer will die Auserwählten Gottes beschuldigen? Gott ist hier, der gerecht macht. (Isa 50:8)34Wer will verdammen? Christus Jesus ist hier, der gestorben ist, ja mehr noch, der auch auferweckt ist, der zur Rechten Gottes ist und für uns eintritt. (Ps 110:1; Ac 2:33; Col 3:1; Heb 7:25; Heb 10:12; 1Jo 2:1)35Wer will uns scheiden von der Liebe Christi? Trübsal oder Angst oder Verfolgung oder Hunger oder Blöße oder Gefahr oder Schwert? (Ps 73:23)36Wie geschrieben steht: »Um deinetwillen werden wir getötet den ganzen Tag; wir sind geachtet wie Schlachtschafe.«37Aber in dem allen überwinden wir weit durch den, der uns geliebt hat. (1Jo 5:4)38Denn ich bin gewiss, dass weder Tod noch Leben, weder Engel noch Mächte noch Gewalten, weder Gegenwärtiges noch Zukünftiges, (Eph 6:12; Col 2:15)39weder Hohes noch Tiefes noch irgendeine andere Kreatur uns scheiden kann von der Liebe Gottes, die in Christus Jesus ist, unserm Herrn.
