1Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.2For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.3For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:4That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;5Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God:6That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.7For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.8He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.9But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another.10And indeed ye do it toward all the brethren which are in all Macedonia: but we beseech you, brethren, that ye increase more and more;11And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;12That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.13But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.14For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.15For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.16For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:17Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.18Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
1Weiter, Brüder und Schwestern, bitten und ermahnen wir euch in dem Herrn Jesus – da ihr von uns empfangen habt, wie ihr wandeln sollt, um Gott zu gefallen, was ihr ja auch tut –, dass ihr darin immer vollkommener werdet.2Denn ihr wisst, welche Ermahnungen wir euch gegeben haben durch den Herrn Jesus.3Denn das ist der Wille Gottes, eure Heiligung, dass ihr meidet die Unzucht (1Co 6:18)4und ein jeder von euch verstehe, sein eigenes Gefäß[1] in Heiligkeit und Ehre zu halten,5nicht in gieriger Lust wie die Heiden, die von Gott nichts wissen.6Niemand gehe zu weit und übervorteile seinen Bruder im Handel. Denn der Herr straft dies alles, wie wir euch schon früher gesagt und bezeugt haben. (Le 19:11)7Denn Gott hat uns nicht berufen zur Unreinheit, sondern zur Heiligung.8Wer das nun verachtet, der verachtet nicht Menschen, sondern Gott, der seinen Heiligen Geist in euch gibt. (Lu 10:16)9Von der brüderlichen Liebe aber ist es nicht nötig, euch zu schreiben. Denn ihr selbst seid von Gott gelehrt, euch untereinander zu lieben. (Le 19:18; Joh 13:34; Ro 12:10; Heb 13:1)10Und das tut ihr ja auch an allen Brüdern und Schwestern in ganz Makedonien. Wir ermahnen euch aber, dass ihr darin noch vollkommener werdet,11und eure Ehre darein setzt, dass ihr ein stilles Leben führt und das Eure schafft und mit euren eigenen Händen arbeitet, wie wir euch geboten haben, (Eph 4:28; 1Th 2:9; 2Th 3:8; 2Th 3:12; 1Ti 2:2)12damit ihr ehrbar wandelt vor denen, die draußen sind, und auf niemanden angewiesen seid. (Col 4:5)
Von der Auferstehung der Toten
13Wir wollen euch aber, Brüder und Schwestern, nicht im Ungewissen lassen über die, die da schlafen, damit ihr nicht traurig seid wie die andern, die keine Hoffnung haben. (1Co 15:20; Eph 2:12; 2Th 2:1)14Denn wenn wir glauben, dass Jesus gestorben und auferstanden ist, so wird Gott auch die, die da entschlafen sind, durch Jesus mit ihm führen. (Ro 14:9; 1Co 15:3; 1Co 15:12)15Denn das sagen wir euch mit einem Wort des Herrn, dass wir, die wir leben und übrig bleiben bis zum Kommen des Herrn, denen nicht zuvorkommen werden, die entschlafen sind. (Mt 16:28; Mt 24:30; 1Co 15:51)16Denn er selbst, der Herr, wird, wenn der Ruf ertönt, wenn die Stimme des Erzengels und die Posaune Gottes erschallen, herabkommen vom Himmel, und die Toten werden in Christus auferstehen zuerst.17Danach werden wir, die wir leben und übrig bleiben, zugleich mit ihnen entrückt werden auf den Wolken, dem Herrn entgegen in die Luft. Und so werden wir beim Herrn sein allezeit.18So tröstet euch mit diesen Worten untereinander. (1Th 5:11)
