1 The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach, 

2 Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen: 

3 To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God: 

4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. 

5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. 

6 When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? 

7 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. 

8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. 

9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. 

10 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; 

11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven. 

12 Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day's journey. 

13 And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James. 

14 These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren. 

15 And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, and said, (the number of names together were about an hundred and twenty,) 

16 Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus. 

17 For he was numbered with us, and had obtained part of this ministry. 

18 Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out. 

19 And it was known unto all the dwellers at Jerusalem; insomuch as that field is called in their proper tongue, Aceldama, that is to say, The field of blood. 

20 For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell therein: and his bishoprick let another take. 

21 Wherefore of these men which have companied with us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us, 

22 Beginning from the baptism of John, unto that same day that he was taken up from us, must one be ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection. 

23 And they appointed two, Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias. 

24 And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen, 

25 That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place. 

26 And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.

Vorwort

1 Den ersten Bericht habe ich verfasst, Theophilus, von allem, was Jesus angefangen hat, zu tun und auch zu lehren, (Lu 1:3) 

2 bis zu dem Tag, an dem er ⟨in den Himmel⟩ aufgenommen wurde, nachdem er den Aposteln, die er sich auserwählt, durch den Heiligen Geist Befehl gegeben hatte. (Lu 6:13; Ac 1:9) 

3 Diesen hat er sich auch nach seinem Leiden in vielen sicheren Kennzeichen lebendig dargestellt, indem er sich vierzig Tage hindurch von ihnen sehen ließ und über die Dinge redete, die das Reich Gottes betreffen. (Ac 10:40; Ac 13:31; Ac 19:8; Ac 28:23; 1Co 15:5) 

Jesu Himmelfahrt

4 Und als er mit ihnen versammelt war, befahl er ihnen, sich nicht von Jerusalem zu entfernen, sondern auf die Verheißung des Vaters zu warten – die ihr⟨, sagte er,⟩ von mir gehört habt; (Lu 24:49; Joh 14:16; Ac 2:33) 

5 denn Johannes taufte mit Wasser, ihr aber werdet mit Heiligem Geist getauft werden nach diesen wenigen Tagen. (Mt 3:11; Joh 1:33; Ac 2:1; Ac 11:16; 1Co 12:13) 

6 Sie nun, als sie zusammengekommen waren, fragten ihn und sagten: Herr, stellst du in dieser Zeit für Israel das Reich wieder her? (Jer 23:5; Eze 37:21; Da 7:27; Lu 17:20) 

7 Er sprach zu ihnen: Es ist nicht eure Sache, Zeiten oder Zeitpunkte zu wissen, die der Vater in seiner eigenen Vollmacht festgesetzt hat. (Mt 24:36; 1Th 5:1) 

8 Aber ihr werdet Kraft empfangen, wenn der Heilige Geist auf euch gekommen ist; und ihr werdet meine Zeugen sein, sowohl in Jerusalem als auch in ganz Judäa und Samaria und bis an das Ende der Erde. (Lu 24:47; Joh 15:27; Ac 2:32; Ac 4:33; Ac 5:32; Ac 8:14; Ac 10:39; Ac 13:31; Ro 10:18) 

9 Und als er dies gesagt hatte, wurde er vor ihren Blicken emporgehoben, und eine Wolke nahm ihn auf vor ihren Augen weg. (Mr 16:19; Re 11:12) 

10 Und als sie gespannt zum Himmel schauten, wie er auffuhr, siehe, da standen zwei Männer in weißen Kleidern bei ihnen, (Lu 24:4; Ac 10:30) 

11 die auch sprachen: Männer von Galiläa, was steht ihr und seht hinauf zum Himmel? Dieser Jesus, der von euch weg in den Himmel aufgenommen worden ist, wird so kommen, wie ihr ihn habt hingehen sehen in den Himmel. (Mt 24:30; Joh 14:3; Ac 3:20) 

12 Da kehrten sie nach Jerusalem zurück von dem Berg, welcher Ölberg heißt, der nahe bei Jerusalem ist, einen Sabbatweg entfernt. (Zec 14:4; Lu 24:52) 

13 Und als sie hineingekommen waren, stiegen sie hinauf in den Obersaal, wo sie sich aufzuhalten pflegten: sowohl Petrus als Johannes und Jakobus und Andreas, Philippus und Thomas, Bartholomäus und Matthäus, Jakobus⟨, der Sohn⟩ des Alphäus, und Simon, der Eiferer, und Judas⟨, der Sohn⟩ des Jakobus. (Mt 10:2) 

14 Diese alle verharrten einmütig im Gebet mit ⟨einigen⟩ Frauen und Maria, der Mutter Jesu, und mit seinen Brüdern. (Mt 12:46; Lu 18:1; Lu 23:49; Ac 2:42; Ac 6:4) 

Wahl des Matthias zum Apostel

15 Und in diesen Tagen stand Petrus in der Mitte der Brüder auf und sprach – und es war eine Menge von etwa hundertzwanzig Personen beisammen –: 

16 Ihr Brüder, es musste die Schrift erfüllt werden, die der Heilige Geist durch den Mund Davids vorhergesagt hat über Judas, der denen, die Jesus festnahmen, Wegweiser geworden ist. (Lu 22:4; Lu 24:44) 

17 Denn er war uns zugezählt und hatte das Los dieses Dienstes empfangen. (Joh 6:70) 

18 Dieser nun hat zwar von dem Lohn der Ungerechtigkeit einen Acker erworben, ist aber kopfüber gestürzt, mitten entzweigeborsten, und alle seine Eingeweide sind ausgeschüttet worden. 

19 Und es ist allen Bewohnern von Jerusalem bekannt geworden, sodass jener Acker in ihrer eigenen Mundart Hakeldamach, das ist Blutacker, genannt worden ist. (Mt 27:7) 

20 Denn es steht im Buch der Psalmen geschrieben: »Seine Wohnung werde öde, und es sei niemand, der darin wohnt«!, und: »Sein Aufseheramt empfange ein anderer!« (Ps 69:26; Ps 109:8) 

21 Es muss nun von den Männern, die mit uns gegangen sind in all der Zeit, in welcher der Herr Jesus bei uns ein- und ausging, (Lu 1:2) 

22 angefangen von der Taufe des Johannes bis zu dem Tag, an dem er von uns hinweg aufgenommen wurde – von diesen ⟨muss⟩ einer Zeuge seiner Auferstehung mit uns werden. (Ac 2:32; Ac 3:15; Ac 10:39) 

23 Und sie stellten zwei auf: Josef, genannt Barsabbas, mit dem Beinamen Justus, und Matthias. (Ac 15:22) 

24 Und sie beteten und sprachen: Du, Herr, Herzenskenner aller, zeige von diesen beiden den einen an, den du auserwählt hast, (Lu 5:22; Ac 15:8) 

25 damit er die Stelle dieses Dienstes und Apostelamtes empfängt, von dem Judas abgewichen ist, um an seinen eigenen Ort zu gehen. 

26 Und sie gaben ihnen Lose; und das Los fiel auf Matthias, und er wurde den elf Aposteln zugezählt. (1Sa 14:42; Pr 16:33)
