1In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea,2And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.3For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.4And the same John had his raiment of camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey.5Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan,6And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins.7But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?8Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:9And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.10And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.11I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:12Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.13Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.14But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?15And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.16And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:17And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
1В те дни пророк Яхия[1] начал проповедовать в Иудейской пустыне. (Mt 11:11; Mt 14:2; Mt 14:8; Mt 16:14; Mt 17:13; Mr 1:2; Lu 3:1; Joh 1:19)2– Покайтесь! – говорил он. – Потому что Всевышний уже устанавливает Своё Царство!3Яхия был тем самым человеком, о котором говорил пророк Исаия: «Голос раздаётся в пустыне: „Приготовьте путь Вечному, сделайте прямыми дороги Его!“»[2] (Isa 40:3)4Яхия носил одежду из верблюжьей шерсти и подпоясывался кожаным поясом[3]. Пищей ему служили саранча и дикий мёд. (2Ki 1:8; Zec 13:4)5К нему приходил народ из Иерусалима, со всей Иудеи и из окрестностей реки Иордан.6Они открыто признавали свои грехи, и Яхия в Иордане совершал над ними обряд погружения в воду[4].7Увидев блюстителей Закона[5] и саддукеев[6], идущих к нему, чтобы пройти обряд погружения в воду, Яхия сказал: – Эй вы, змеиное отродье! Кто предупредил вас, чтобы вы бежали от грядущего возмездия Всевышнего?8Делами докажите искренность вашего покаяния.9Не думайте, что вы избежите наказания только потому, что вы«дети Ибрахима». Говорю вам, что Всевышний может и из этих камней сотворить детей Ибрахиму.10Уже и топор лежит у корня деревьев, и всякое дерево, не приносящее хорошего плода, будет срублено и брошено в огонь.11Я совершаю над вами обряд, погружая вас в воду, как знак того, что вы покаялись, но после меня придёт Тот, Кто могущественнее меня, я даже не достоин нести Его сандалии. Он будет погружать вас в Святого Духа и в огонь[7]. (Mal 3:2; 1Co 3:10)12У Него в руках лопата, которой Он будет провеивать зерно на току; Свою пшеницу Он соберёт в хранилище, а мякину сожжёт в неугасимом огне[8].

13И вот из Галилеи к Иордану пришёл Иса, чтобы пройти обряд погружения в воду у Яхии. (Mr 1:9; Lu 3:21; Joh 1:32)14Яхия пытался отговорить Его: – Это мне нужно принять этот обряд от Тебя, зачем же Ты пришёл ко мне?15Но Иса ответил: – Пусть сейчас будет так. Нам следует исполнить всё, что требует Всевышний. Тогда Яхия согласился.16Иса, пройдя данный обряд, тотчас вышел из воды, и вот раскрылись небеса, и Он увидел Духа Всевышнего, спускающегося в образе голубя и садящегося на Него.17И вот голос с небес, говорящий: – Это Мой Сын (Избранный Мной Царь)[9], Которого Я люблю, в Нём Моя радость![10] (Ge 22:2; 2Sa 7:14; Ps 2:6; Ps 2:7; Isa 42:1; Joh 1:49; Joh 11:27; Joh 20:31; 1Jo 2:23)
