Die Richterin Debora und der Heerführer Barak

1 Als Ehud gestorben war, taten die Israeliten erneut, was dem HERRN missfiel. 2-3 Da ließ der HERR ihr Gebiet vom Kanaaniterkönig Jabin erobern; der regierte in Hazor und besaß 900 eiserne Streitwagen. Sein Heerführer hieß Sisera, er hatte sein Truppenlager in Haroschet-Gojim aufgeschlagen. Zwanzig Jahre lang quälte und unterdrückte Jabin die Israeliten. Da schrien sie zum HERRN um Hilfe. 4 Zu jener Zeit war die Prophetin Debora Israels Richterin. Sie war mit einem Mann namens Lappidot verheiratet 5 und wohnte bei der nach ihr benannten Debora-Palme zwischen Rama und Bethel im Gebirge Ephraim. Dorthin kamen die Israeliten, um sich von ihr Recht sprechen zu lassen. 6 Eines Tages ließ Debora Barak zu sich kommen, den Sohn von Abinoam aus Kedesch im Stammesgebiet von Naftali. Sie sagte zu ihm: »Der HERR, der Gott Israels, befiehlt dir: ›Rufe 10.000 Soldaten aus den Stämmen Naftali und Sebulon zusammen und zieh mit ihnen auf den Berg Tabor! 7 Ich werde dafür sorgen, dass Sisera, Jabins Heerführer, mit seinen Wagen und seinem Heer zum Fluss Kischon kommt. Dort gebe ich ihn in deine Gewalt.‹« 8 Barak antwortete: »Ich werde nur gehen, wenn du mitkommst. Ohne dich unternehme ich nichts.« 9 »Ich komme mit«, willigte Debora ein, »aber der Ruhm dieses Feldzugs wird nicht dir gehören, denn der HERR wird einer Frau den Sieg über Sisera schenken!« Zusammen mit Barak machte sich Debora auf den Weg nach Kedesch. 10 Dort rief Barak die Stämme Sebulon und Naftali zusammen. 10.000 Mann folgten ihm auf den Berg Tabor, und Debora begleitete sie. 11 Zu jener Zeit schlug ein Keniter namens Heber seine Zelte bei dem großen Baum von Zaanannim in der Nähe von Kedesch auf. Die Keniter waren Nachkommen von Hobab, dem Schwager von Mose. Heber hatte sich von seiner Sippe getrennt und war allein weitergezogen. 12 Man meldete Sisera, dass Barak, der Sohn von Abinoam, ein Heer auf den Berg Tabor geführt hatte. 13 Da brach er von Haroschet-Gojim auf und zog mit den 900 eisernen Streitwagen und seinem ganzen Heer zum Fluss Kischon. 14 »Greif an«, forderte Debora Barak auf. »Der HERR wird euch vorangehen und euch noch heute den Sieg über Sisera geben!« Da stürmte Barak mit seinen 10.000 Soldaten vom Berg Tabor herab. 15 Als sie mit dem Schwert in der Hand angriffen, ließ der HERR das ganze Heer der Kanaaniter in Panik geraten. Sisera sprang vom Wagen und floh zu Fuß. 16 Baraks Männer verfolgten die fliehenden Truppen und ihre Wagen bis nach Haroschet-Gojim. Sie töteten alle Soldaten, nicht einer kam mit dem Leben davon.

17 Sisera floh zu Fuß zum Zelt von Jaël, der Frau des Keniters Heber. Denn zwischen Heber und Jabin, dem König von Hazor, herrschte Frieden. 18 Jaël trat aus dem Zelt, lief Sisera entgegen und rief: »Komm herein, mein Herr! Hier bist du sicher!« Da ging er in ihr Zelt und legte sich hin. Jaël deckte ihn zu. 19 »Gib mir bitte etwas Wasser«, sagte er, »ich habe Durst.« Jaël öffnete den Milchschlauch und ließ Sisera trinken. Dann deckte sie ihn wieder zu. 20 »Stell dich an den Eingang!«, bat er sie. »Wenn einer kommt und fragt, ob jemand im Zelt ist, sag Nein!« 21 Erschöpft fiel er in einen tiefen Schlaf. Jaël nahm einen Zeltpflock und einen Hammer, schlich sich an Sisera heran und schlug den Pflock durch seine Schläfen in den Boden. So starb er. 22 Kurz darauf traf Barak ein, der Sisera verfolgte. Jaël ging ihm entgegen und sagte: »Komm, ich will dir den Mann zeigen, den du suchst.« Barak trat in das Zelt und sah Sisera mit dem Zeltpflock in der Schläfe tot am Boden liegen. 23 An diesem Tag fügte Gott dem Kanaaniterkönig Jabin durch die Israeliten eine beschämende Niederlage zu. 24 Danach gewannen sie immer mehr Macht über Jabin, und schließlich vernichteten sie ihn ganz.

1 And the people of Israel again did what was evil in the sight of the Lord after Ehud died. (Ri 2,19) 2 And the Lord sold them into the hand of Jabin king of Canaan, who reigned in Hazor. The commander of his army was Sisera, who lived in Harosheth-hagoyim. (Jos 11,1; Jos 11,10; Ri 2,14; Ri 4,13; Ri 4,16; 1Sam 12,9; Ps 83,9)

3 Then the people of Israel cried out to the Lord for help, for he had 900 chariots of iron and he oppressed the people of Israel cruelly for twenty years. (Ri 1,19; Ri 3,9; Ri 4,13) 4 Now Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lappidoth, was judging Israel at that time. 5 She used to sit under the palm of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the hill country of Ephraim, and the people of Israel came up to her for judgment. (Jos 24,33) 6 She sent and summoned Barak the son of Abinoam from Kedesh-naphtali and said to him, “Has not the Lord, the God of Israel, commanded you, ‘Go, gather your men at Mount Tabor, taking 10,000 from the people of Naphtali and the people of Zebulun. 8 Barak said to her, “If you will go with me, I will go, but if you will not go with me, I will not go.” 9 And she said, “I will surely go with you. Nevertheless, the road on which you are going will not lead to your glory, for the Lord will sell Sisera into the hand of a woman.” Then Deborah arose and went with Barak to Kedesh. (Ri 2,14) 10 And Barak called out Zebulun and Naphtali to Kedesh. And 10,000 men went up at his heels, and Deborah went up with him. (Ri 5,18) 11 Now Heber the Kenite had separated from the Kenites, the descendants of Hobab the father-in-law of Moses, and had pitched his tent as far away as the oak in Zaanannim, which is near Kedesh. (4Mo 10,29; Jos 19,33; Ri 1,16) 12 When Sisera was told that Barak the son of Abinoam had gone up to Mount Tabor, 13 Sisera called out all his chariots, 900 chariots of iron, and all the men who were with him, from Harosheth-hagoyim to the river Kishon. (Ri 4,3) 14 And Deborah said to Barak, “Up! For this is the day in which the Lord has given Sisera into your hand. 15 And the Lord routed Sisera and all his chariots and all his army before Barak by the edge of the sword. And Sisera got down from his chariot and fled away on foot. (Jos 10,10; Ri 4,23; Ps 83,9) 16 And Barak pursued the chariots and the army to Harosheth-hagoyim, and all the army of Sisera fell by the edge of the sword; not a man was left. 17 But Sisera fled away on foot to the tent of Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite, for there was peace between Jabin the king of Hazor and the house of Heber the Kenite. 18 And Jael came out to meet Sisera and said to him, “Turn aside, my lord; turn aside to me; do not be afraid.” So he turned aside to her into the tent, and she covered him with a rug. 19 And he said to her, “Please give me a little water to drink, for I am thirsty.” So she opened a skin of milk and gave him a drink and covered him. (Ri 5,25) 20 And he said to her, “Stand at the opening of the tent, and if any man comes and asks you, ‘Is anyone here?’ say, ‘No.’” 21 But Jael the wife of Heber took a tent peg, and took a hammer in her hand. Then she went softly to him and drove the peg into his temple until it went down into the ground while he was lying fast asleep from weariness. So he died. 22 And behold, as Barak was pursuing Sisera, Jael went out to meet him and said to him, “Come, and I will show you the man whom you are seeking.” So he went in to her tent, and there lay Sisera dead, with the tent peg in his temple. 23 So on that day God subdued Jabin the king of Canaan before the people of Israel. (Ri 4,15) 24 And the hand of the people of Israel pressed harder and harder against Jabin the king of Canaan, until they destroyed Jabin king of Canaan.

1 Pero después que murió Aod, los hijos de Israel volvieron a hacer lo malo ante los ojos de YHVH. 2 Y YHVH los entregó en mano de Yabín, rey de Canaán, que reinaba en Hazor, el comandante de cuyo ejército era Sísara, que moraba en Haroset-goim. 3 Entonces los hijos de Israel clamaron a YHVH, porque aquél tenía novecientos carros de hierro, y durante veinte años había oprimido con crueldad a los hijos de Israel. 4 En aquel tiempo juzgaba en Israel Débora, una profetisa, mujer de Lapidot. 5 Y se sentaba bajo el palmar de Débora, entre Ramá y Bet-’El, en la serranía de Efraín, y los hijos de Israel acudían a ella para que los juzgara. 6 Y ella hizo llamar a Barac ben Abinoam, desde Cedes-Neftalí, y le dijo: ¿No te ha ordenado YHVH, Dios de Israel, diciendo: Anda, avanza hacia monte Tabor, y toma contigo diez mil hombres de los hijos de Neftalí y de los hijos de Zabulón? 7 Y Yo atraeré al torrente de Cisón a Sísara, príncipe del ejército de Yabín, con sus carros y con sus multitudes, y lo entregaré en tu mano. 8 Y Barac le respondió: Si tú vas conmigo, entonces iré, pero si no vas conmigo, no iré. 9 Y ella dijo: Ciertamente iré contigo, pero no será tuya la gloria de la jornada que vas a emprender, porque YHVH entregará a Sísara en mano de una mujer. Y Débora se levantó y fue con Barac a Cedes. 10 Y Barac convocó a Zabulón y a Neftalí en Cedes, y subió con diez mil hombres que siguieron sus pasos. Y Débora subió con él. 11 Es de saber que Heber ceneo, se había apartado de los ceneos, descendientes de Hobab, cuñado de Moisés, y había ido desplegando sus tiendas hasta el encinar de Zaanaim, que está junto a Cedes. 12 Y se le informó a Sísara que Barac ben Abinoam, había subido al monte Tabor. 13 Por lo cual Sísara reunió todos sus carros, novecientos carros de hierro, con todo el pueblo que estaba con él, desde Haroset-goim hasta el torrente de Cisón. 14 Entonces dijo Débora a Barac: ¡Levántate, que este es el día en que YHVH ha entregado a Sísara en tu mano! ¿No ha salido ya YHVH delante de ti? Y Barac bajó del monte Tabor, y diez mil hombres en pos de él. 15 Y YHVH destrozó a Sísara, con todos sus carros y todo su ejército a filo de espada delante de Barac; y Sísara bajándose del carro, huyó a pie. 16 Pero Barac persiguió los carros y al ejército hasta Haroset-goim, y todo el ejército de Sísara cayó a filo de espada hasta no quedar ni uno. 17 Sísara, pues, había huido a pie hasta la tienda de Jael, mujer de Heber ceneo, porque había paz entre Yabín rey de Hazor y la casa de Heber ceneo. 18 Y salió Jael al encuentro de Sísara, y le dijo: ¡Entra, señor mío, entra aquí, no temas! Entonces él entró en la tienda de ella, y ella lo cubrió con una manta. 19 Y él le dijo: Dame, te ruego, un poco de agua para beber, pues tengo sed. Ella entonces abrió un odre de leche y le dio de beber, y lo volvió a cubrir. 20 Y él le dijo: Quédate en la puerta de la tienda, y si alguno viene y te pregunta y dice: ¿Hay alguien aquí?, tú le responderás que no. 21 Pero Jael, mujer de Heber, tomó una estaca de la tienda y asiendo un mazo en su mano, fue calladamente hacia él, y le clavó la estaca en la sien, la cual penetró hasta la tierra, pues él estaba cansado y dormía profundamente. Y así murió. 22 En esto, he aquí Barac que venía persiguiendo a Sísara, y Jael salió a recibirlo, y le dijo: Ven, te mostraré al hombre que buscas. Y él entró donde ella estaba, y he aquí Sísara yacía muerto con la estaca en la sien. 23 Así humilló ’Elohim en aquel día a Yabín, rey de Canaán, ante los hijos de Israel. 24 Y la mano de los hijos de Israel se hizo más y más dura contra Yabín, rey de Canaán, hasta que acabaron de destruir a Yabín rey de Canaán.

E Debora si alzò e andò con Barac a Chedes. 10 Barac convocò Zabulon e Neftali a Chedes; diecimila uomini si misero al suo seguito e Debora salì con lui. 11 Ora Eber, il Cheneo, si era separato dai Chenei, discendenti di Obab, suocero di Mosè, e aveva piantato le sue tende fino al querceto di Saannaim, che è vicino a Chedes. 12 Fu riferito a Sisera che Barac, figlio di Abinoam, era salito sul monte Tabor. 13 Sisera adunò tutti i suoi carri, novecento carri di ferro, e tutta la gente che era con lui, da Aroset-Goim fino al torrente Chison. 14 Allora Debora disse a Barac: «Àlzati, poiché questo è il giorno in cui il Signore ha dato Sisera nelle tue mani. Il Signore non va forse davanti a te?» Allora Barac scese dal monte Tabor, seguito da diecimila uomini. 15 Il Signore mise in rotta, davanti a Barac, Sisera con tutti i suoi carri e con tutto il suo esercito, che fu passato a fil di spada; e Sisera, sceso dal carro, si diede alla fuga a piedi. 16 Ma Barac inseguì i carri e l’esercito fino ad Aroset-Goim; e tutto l’esercito di Sisera cadde sotto i colpi della spada e non scampò neppure un uomo. 17 Sisera fuggì a piedi verso la tenda di Iael, moglie di Eber, il Cheneo, perché vi era pace fra Iabin, re di Asor, e la casa di Eber, il Cheneo. 18 Iael uscì incontro a Sisera e gli disse: «Entra, mio signore, entra da me; non temere». Egli entrò da lei nella sua tenda e lei lo coprì con una coperta. 19 Egli le disse: «Ti prego, dammi un po’ d’acqua da bere perché ho sete». Quella, aperto l’otre del latte, gli diede da bere e lo coprì. 20 Egli le disse: «Stattene all’ingresso della tenda; forse qualcuno verrà a interrogarti e ti chiederà: “C’è qualcuno qui dentro?” Tu risponderai di no». 21 Allora Iael, moglie di Eber, prese un piuolo della tenda e un martello, andò pian piano da lui e gli piantò il piuolo nella tempia tanto che esso penetrò in terra. Egli era profondamente addormentato e sfinito; e morì. 22 Mentre Barac inseguiva Sisera, Iael uscì a incontrarlo e gli disse: «Vieni, e ti mostrerò l’uomo che cerchi». Egli entrò da lei; ecco, Sisera era steso morto, con il piuolo nella tempia. 23 Quel giorno Dio umiliò Iabin, re di Canaan, davanti ai figli d’Israele. 24 La mano dei figli d’Israele si fece sempre più pesante su Iabin, re di Canaan, finché l’ebbero annientato.
