Die neue Welt Gottes

1 Dann sah ich einen neuen Himmel und eine neue Erde. Denn der vorige Himmel und die vorige Erde waren vergangen, und auch das Meer war nicht mehr da. 2 Ich sah, wie die Heilige Stadt, das neue Jerusalem, von Gott aus dem Himmel herabkam: festlich geschmückt wie eine Braut für ihren Bräutigam. 3 Eine gewaltige Stimme hörte ich vom Thron her rufen: »Hier wird Gott mitten unter den Menschen sein! Er wird bei ihnen wohnen, und sie werden sein Volk sein. Ja, von nun an wird Gott selbst^[1] in ihrer Mitte leben. 4 Er wird ihnen alle Tränen abwischen. Es wird keinen Tod mehr geben, kein Leid, keine Klage und keine Schmerzen; denn was einmal war, ist für immer vorbei.« 5 Der auf dem Thron saß, sagte: »Sieh doch, ich mache alles neu!« Und mich forderte er auf: »Schreib auf, was ich dir sage, alles ist zuverlässig und wahr.« 6 Und weiter sagte er: »Alles ist in Erfüllung gegangen. Ich bin der Anfang, und ich bin das Ziel, das A und O^[2]. Allen Durstigen werde ich Wasser aus der Quelle des Lebens schenken. (Offb 1,8) 7 Wer durchhält und den Sieg erringt, wird dies alles besitzen. Ich werde sein Gott sein, und er wird mein Kind sein. 8 Furchtbar aber wird es denen ergehen, die mich feige verleugnen und mir den Rücken gekehrt haben, die ein Leben führen, das ich verabscheue, den Mördern und denen, die sexuell unmoralisch leben, allen, die Zauberei treiben und Götzen anbeten, den Lügnern und Betrügern. Sie alle werden in den See aus brennendem Schwefel geworfen. Das ist der zweite, der ewige Tod.«

Die neue Stadt Gottes

9 Dann kam einer der sieben Engel, die in ihren Schalen die letzten sieben Katastrophen gebracht hatten, zu mir und sagte: »Komm, ich will dir die Braut zeigen, die sich das Lamm zur Frau nehmen wird!« 10 Gottes Geist ergriff mich und führte mich auf einen großen, hohen Berg. Dort zeigte er mir die heilige Stadt Jerusalem, wie sie von Gott aus dem Himmel herabkam. 11 Die Stadt erstrahlte im Glanz der Herrlichkeit Gottes. Sie leuchtete wie ein Edelstein, wie ein kristallklarer Jaspis. 12 Eine hohe und starke Mauer umgab die Stadt. Sie hatte zwölf Tore, die von zwölf Engeln bewacht wurden. An den Toren standen die Namen der zwölf Stämme Israels. 13 Auf jeder Seite – im Norden, Süden, Osten und Westen – gab es drei Tore. 14 Die Mauer ruhte auf zwölf Grundsteinen, auf denen standen die Namen der zwölf Apostel des Lammes. 15 Der Engel, der mit mir redete, hielt in seiner Hand einen goldenen Messstab, um die Stadt, ihre Tore und ihre Mauern auszumessen. 16 Die Stadt hatte die Form eines Vierecks und war ebenso lang wie breit. Mit seinem Messstab hatte der Engel gemessen, dass die Stadt 12.000 Wegstrecken – das sind etwa 2200 Kilometer – lang, breit und hoch ist. 17 Dann maß er auch die Mauer der Stadt und verwendete dabei ein Maß, das auch wir Menschen gebrauchen. Sie war 144 Ellen hoch^[3] – das sind etwa 70 Meter – 18 und bestand ganz und gar aus Jaspis. Die Stadt war aus reinem Gold gebaut, klar und durchsichtig wie Glas. 19 Die Grundsteine der Stadtmauer schmückten die verschiedensten Edelsteine. Der erste Grundstein war ein Jaspis, der zweite ein Saphir, der dritte ein Chalzedon, der vierte ein Smaragd, 20 der fünfte ein Sardonyx, der sechste ein Karneol, der siebte ein Chrysolith, der achte ein Beryll, der neunte ein Topas, der zehnte ein Chrysopras, der elfte ein Hyazinth und der zwölfte ein Amethyst. 21 Die zwölf Tore bestanden aus zwölf Perlen, jedes Tor aus einer einzigen Perle. Und die Hauptstraße war aus reinem Gold, klar und durchsichtig wie Glas. 22 Nirgendwo in der Stadt sah ich einen Tempel. Ihr Tempel ist der Herr selbst, der allmächtige Gott, und mit ihm das Lamm. 23 Die Stadt braucht als Lichtquelle weder Sonne noch Mond, denn in ihr leuchtet die Herrlichkeit Gottes, und ihr Licht ist das Lamm. 24 In diesem Licht werden die Völker der Erde leben, und die Herrscher der Welt werden kommen und ihre Reichtümer in die Stadt bringen. 25 Weil es keine Nacht gibt, werden die Tore niemals geschlossen; sie stehen immer offen. 26 Die Völker werden all ihre Schätze und Kostbarkeiten in die Stadt bringen. 27 Doch wer sich durch Götzendienst verunreinigt hat, wer lügt und betrügt, der darf diese Stadt niemals betreten. Nur wer im Lebensbuch des Lammes steht, wird eingelassen.

The New Jerusalem

9 Then came one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues and spoke to me, saying, “Come, I will show you the Bride, the wife of the Lamb.” (Offb 15,1; Offb 17,1; Offb 21,2) 10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great, high mountain, and showed me the holy city Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God, (Ps 87,1; Hes 40,2; Hes 43,5; Offb 17,3)

12 It had a great, high wall, with twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and on the gates the names of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel were inscribed— (Hes 48,31) 13 on the east three gates, on the north three gates, on the south three gates, and on the west three gates. 14 And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. 15 And the one who spoke with me had a measuring rod of gold to measure the city and its gates and walls. (Offb 11,1) 16 The city lies foursquare, its length the same as its width. And he measured the city with his rod, 12,000 stadia.^[4] Its length and width and height are equal. 17 He also measured its wall, 144 cubits^[5] by human measurement, which is also an angel’s measurement. The first was jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald, (Jes 54,11) 20 the fifth onyx, the sixth carnelian, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, the twelfth amethyst. 21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls, each of the gates made of a single pearl, and the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass. (Offb 22,2) 22 And I saw no temple in the city, for its temple is the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb. 25 and its gates will never be shut by day—and there will be no night there. (Jes 60,11; Offb 21,23) 26 They will bring into it the glory and the honor of the nations. 27 But nothing unclean will ever enter it, nor anyone who does what is detestable or false, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s book of life. 1 Vi un cielo nuevo y una tierra nueva, porque el primer cielo y la primera tierra pasaron, y el mar no existía más. 2 Y vi que descendía del cielo, de Dios, la ciudad santa: Una nueva Jerusalem, dispuesta como una esposa ataviada para su esposo. 3 Y oí una gran voz procedente del trono, que decía: He aquí el tabernáculo de Dios con los hombres, y morará con ellos, y ellos serán pueblos suyos, y Dios mismo estará con ellos. 4 Y enjugará toda lágrima de sus ojos, y ya no existirá la muerte, ni habrá ya llanto, ni clamor, ni dolor. Las primeras cosas pasaron. 5 Y el que está sentado en el trono dijo: He aquí que hago nuevas todas las cosas, y dijo: Escribe: Estas palabras son fieles y verdaderas. 6 Y me dijo: Hecho está. Y midió la ciudad con la vara: doce mil estadios. Su longitud, anchura y altura son iguales. 17 Midió también su muro: ciento cuarenta y cuatro codos, medida de hombre, que es de ángel. 18 El material de su muro es de jaspe; pero la ciudad es de oro puro semejante al cristal puro. 19 Los fundamentos del muro de la ciudad habían sido adornados con toda piedra preciosa: el primer fundamento, jaspe; el segundo, zafiro; el tercero, calcedonia; el cuarto, esmeralda; 20 el quinto, ónice; el sexto, cornalina; el séptimo, crisólito; el octavo, berilo; el noveno, topacio; el décimo, crisopraso; el undécimo, jacinto; el duodécimo, amatista. 21 Las doce puertas son doce perlas: cada una de las puertas era de una sola perla, y la plaza de la ciudad era de oro puro, transparente como el cristal. 22 Y no vi en ella santuario, porque el Señor Dios Todopoderoso y el Cordero, es el santuario de ella. 23 Y la ciudad no tiene necesidad del sol ni de la luna para que la iluminen, porque la gloria de Dios la iluminó, y el Cordero es su lumbrera. 24 Las naciones andarán a la luz de ella, y los reyes de la tierra le llevarán su gloria. 25 ¡Que nunca jamás sean cerradas sus puertas de día! (Allí no habrá noche). 26 Y llevarán a ella la gloria y el honor de las naciones. 27 ¡Que nunca jamás entre en ella ninguna cosa inmunda, que hace abominación o mentira, sino sólo los que han sido inscritos en el rollo de la vida del Cordero!

I nuovi cieli e la nuova terra

1 Poi vidi un nuovo cielo e una nuova terra, poiché il primo cielo e la prima terra erano scomparsi, e il mare non c’era più. 2 E vidi la santa città, la nuova Gerusalemme, scendere dal cielo da presso Dio, pronta come una sposa adorna per il suo sposo. 3 Udii una gran voce dal trono, che diceva: «Ecco il tabernacolo di Dio con gli uomini! Egli abiterà con loro, essi saranno suoi popoli^[1] e Dio stesso sarà con loro {e sarà il loro Dio}. 4 Egli asciugherà ogni lacrima dai loro occhi e non ci sarà più la morte, né cordoglio, né grido, né dolore, perché le cose di prima sono passate». 5 E colui che siede sul trono disse: «Ecco, io faccio nuove tutte le cose». Poi mi disse: «Scrivi, perché queste parole sono fedeli e veritiere», e aggiunse: 6 «Ogni cosa è compiuta. Io sono l’alfa e l’omega, il principio e la fine. A chi ha sete io darò gratuitamente della fonte dell’acqua della vita. 7 Chi vince erediterà queste cose, io gli sarò Dio ed egli mi sarà figlio. 8 Ma per i codardi, gli increduli, gli abominevoli, gli omicidi, i fornicatori, gli stregoni, gli idolatri e tutti i bugiardi, la loro parte sarà nello stagno ardente di fuoco e di zolfo, che è la morte seconda».

La nuova Gerusalemme

9 Poi venne uno dei sette angeli che avevano le sette coppe piene degli ultimi sette flagelli, e mi parlò, dicendo: «Vieni e ti mostrerò la sposa, la moglie dell’Agnello». 10 Egli mi trasportò in spirito su una grande e alta montagna, e mi mostrò la santa città, Gerusalemme, che scendeva dal cielo da presso Dio, 11 con la gloria di Dio. Il suo splendore era simile a quello di una pietra preziosissima, come una pietra di diaspro cristallino. 12 Aveva delle mura grandi e alte; aveva dodici porte e alle porte dodici angeli. Sulle porte erano scritti dei nomi, che sono quelli delle dodici tribù dei figli d’Israele. 13 Tre porte erano a oriente, tre a settentrione, tre a mezzogiorno e tre a occidente. 14 Le mura della città avevano dodici fondamenti, e su quelli stavano i dodici nomi dei dodici apostoli dell’Agnello. 15 E colui che mi parlava aveva come misura una canna d’oro, per misurare la città, le sue porte e le sue mura. 16 E la città era quadrata, e la sua lunghezza era uguale alla larghezza; egli misurò la città con la canna, ed era dodicimila stadi^[2]; la lunghezza, la larghezza e l’altezza erano uguali. 17 Ne misurò anche le mura ed erano di centoquarantaquattro cubiti^[3], a misura d’uomo, adoperata dall’angelo. 18 Le mura erano costruite con diaspro e la città era d’oro puro, simile a terso cristallo. 19 I fondamenti delle mura della città erano adorni d’ogni specie di pietre preziose. Il primo fondamento era di diaspro; il secondo, di zaffiro; il terzo, di calcedonio; il quarto, di smeraldo; 20 il quinto, di sardonico; il sesto, di sardio; il settimo, di crisòlito; l’ottavo, di berillo; il nono, di topazio; il decimo, di crisopazio; l’undicesimo, di giacinto; il dodicesimo, di ametista. 21 Le dodici porte erano dodici perle e ciascuna era fatta da una perla sola. La piazza della città era d’oro puro, simile a cristallo trasparente. 22 Nella città non vidi alcun tempio, perché il Signore, Dio onnipotente, e l’Agnello sono il suo tempio. 23 La città non ha bisogno di sole, né di luna che la illuminino, perché la gloria di Dio la illumina, e l’Agnello è la sua lampada. 24 Le nazioni cammineranno alla sua luce e i re della terra vi porteranno la loro gloria. 25 Di giorno le sue porte non saranno mai chiuse (la notte non vi sarà più); 26 e in lei si porterà la gloria e l’onore delle nazioni. 27 E nulla di impuro, né chi commetta abominazioni o falsità, vi entrerà; ma soltanto quelli che sono scritti nel libro della vita dell’Agnello.
