wie gewaltig ist dein Name auf der ganzen Erde,
der du deine Hoheit gebreitet hast über den Himmel.[1]3Aus dem Mund der Kinder und Säuglinge hast du ein Bollwerk errichtet /
wegen deiner Gegner,
um zum Einhalten zu bringen Feind und Rächer.[2] (Mt 21,16)4Seh ich deine Himmel, die Werke deiner Finger,
Mond und Sterne, die du befestigt:5Was ist der Mensch, dass du seiner gedenkst,
des Menschen Kind, dass du dich seiner annimmst? (1Mo 1,26; Ps 144,3; 1Kor 15,27; Eph 1,22; Hebr 2,6)6Du hast ihn nur wenig geringer gemacht als Gott,
du hast ihn gekrönt mit Pracht und Herrlichkeit.[3]7Du hast ihn als Herrscher eingesetzt über die Werke deiner Hände,
alles hast du gelegt unter seine Füße:8Schafe und Rinder, sie alle
und auch die wilden Tiere,9die Vögel des Himmels und die Fische im Meer,
was auf den Pfaden der Meere dahinzieht.10HERR, unser Herr,
wie gewaltig ist dein Name auf der ganzen Erde!

1Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory in the heavens.[1]2Through the praise of children and infants you have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger.3When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,4what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?[2]5You have made them[3] a little lower than the angels[4] and crowned them[5] with glory and honour.6You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their[6] feet:7all flocks and herds, and the animals of the wild,8the birds in the sky, and the fish in the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas.9Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
