Vergänglichkeit des Menschen und seine Aufnahme bei Gott

1 Für den Chormeister. Ein Psalm der Korachiter. 2 Hört dies an, ihr Völker alle, vernehmt es, alle Bewohner der Welt, (Spr 8,4) 3 ihr Leute aus dem Volk und vom Adel, Reiche und Arme zusammen! 4 Mein Mund spreche weise Worte; was mein Herz ersinnt, sei voller Einsicht. 5 Ich wende mein Ohr einem Sprichwort zu, ich enthülle mein Rätsel beim Leierspiel. (Ps 78,2) 6 Warum soll ich mich in bösen Tagen fürchten, wenn mich die Schuld meiner Tritte umgibt? 7 Sie verlassen sich ganz auf ihren Besitz und rühmen sich ihres großen Reichtums. (Hi 31,24; Ps 52,9; Jer 9,22) 8 Doch kann keiner einen Bruder auslösen, an Gott für ihn ein Sühnegeld zahlen (Spr 11,4; Mt 16,26) 9 - für ihr Leben ist jeder Kaufpreis zu hoch, für immer muss man davon abstehn -, 10 dass man auf ewig weiterlebt und niemals das Grab schaut. 11 Denn man sieht: Weise sterben; / gemeinsam gehen Tor und Narr zugrunde und lassen andern ihren Reichtum. (Ps 49,18; Pred 2,16) 12 Sie meinen, ihre Häuser bestehen auf ewig, / ihre Wohnungen von Geschlecht zu Geschlecht, nannten sie auch Länder nach ihrem Namen.^[1] (Pred 12,5) 13 Doch der Mensch bleibt nicht in seiner Pracht; er gleicht dem Vieh, das verstummt. (Pred 3,19) 14 So geht es denen, die auf sich selbst vertrauen, und nach ihnen denen, die sich in großen Worten gefallen. [Sela] 15 Sie sind in die Unterwelt gesetzt wie Schafe. / Es weidet sie der Tod. Es herrschten über sie Redliche am Morgen. Und ihr Fels ist da, um die Unterwelt schwinden zu lassen von seiner Wohnung.^[2] (Ps 55,16) 16 Doch Gott wird mich auslösen aus der Gewalt der Unterwelt, ja, er nimmt mich auf. 17 Lass dich nicht beirren, wenn einer reich wird und die Herrlichkeit seines Hauses sich mehrt; (Sir 11,18) 18 denn im Tod nimmt er das alles nicht mit, seine Herrlichkeit steigt nicht mit ihm hinab. (Ps 39,7; Ps 49,11; Pred 2,18; Pred 5,14; Pred 6,2; Lk 12,20; 1Tim 6,7; Sir 11,18)

19 Preist er sich im Leben auch glücklich: Man lobt dich, weil du es dir wohl sein lässt, 20 so muss er doch zur Schar seiner Väter hinab, die das Licht nicht mehr erblicken. (Hi 10,21) 21 Der Mensch in Pracht, doch ohne Einsicht, er gleicht dem Vieh, das verstummt.

For the director of music. A psalm of the Sons of Korah.

1 Hear this, all you nations. Listen, all you who live in this world. 2 Listen, people, whether you are ordinary or important. Listen, people, whether you are rich or poor. 3 My mouth will speak wise words. What I think about in my heart will give you understanding. 4 I will pay attention to a proverb. I will explain my riddle as I play the harp. 5 Why should I be afraid when trouble comes? Why should I fear when sinners are all around me? They are the kind of people who want to take advantage of me. 6 They trust in their wealth. They boast about how rich they are. 7 No one can pay for the life of anyone else. No one can give God what that would cost. 8 The price for a life is very high. No payment is ever enough. 9 No one can pay enough to live for ever and not rot in the grave. 10 Everyone can see that even wise people die. People who are foolish and who have no sense also pass away. All of them leave their wealth to others. 11 Their tombs will remain their houses for ever. Their graves will be their homes for all time to come. Naming lands after themselves won’t help either. 12 Even though people may be very rich, they don’t live on and on. They are like the animals. They die. 13 That’s what happens to those who trust in themselves. It also happens to their followers, who agree with what they say. 14 They are like sheep and will end up in the grave. Death will be their shepherd. But when honest people come to power, a new day will dawn. The bodies of sinners will waste away in the grave. They will end up far away from their princely houses. 15 But God will save me from the place of the dead. He will certainly take me to himself. 16 Don’t get too upset when other people become rich. Don’t be troubled when they become more and more wealthy. 17 They won’t take anything with them when they die. Their riches won’t go down to the grave with them. 18 While they lived, they believed they were blessed. People praised them when things were going well for them. 19 But they will die, like their people of long ago. They will never again see the light of life. 20 People who have riches but don’t understand are like the animals. They die.
