Die Erprobung Abrahams

1 Nach diesen Ereignissen stellte Gott Abraham auf die Probe. Er sprach zu ihm: Abraham! Er sagte: Hier bin ich. (2Mo 3,4; 1Sam 3,4) 2 Er sprach: Nimm deinen Sohn, deinen einzigen, den du liebst, Isaak, geh in das Land Morija und bring ihn dort auf einem der Berge, den ich dir nenne, als Brandopfer dar! (2Chr 3,1) 3 Frühmorgens stand Abraham auf, sattelte seinen Esel, nahm zwei seiner Jungknechte mit sich und seinen Sohn Isaak, spaltete Holz zum Brandopfer und machte sich auf den Weg zu dem Ort, den ihm Gott genannt hatte. (1Mo 21,14) 4 Als Abraham am dritten Tag seine Augen erhob, sah er den Ort von Weitem. 5 Da sagte Abraham zu seinen Jungknechten: Bleibt mit dem Esel hier! Ich aber und der Knabe, wir wollen dorthin gehen und uns niederwerfen; dann wollen wir zu euch zurückkehren. 6 Abraham nahm das Holz für das Brandopfer und lud es seinem Sohn Isaak auf. Er selbst nahm das Feuer und das Messer in die Hand. So gingen beide miteinander. 7 Da sprach Isaak zu seinem Vater Abraham. Er sagte: Mein Vater! Er antwortete: Hier bin ich, mein Sohn! Dann sagte Isaak: Hier ist Feuer und Holz. Wo aber ist das Lamm für das Brandopfer? 8 Abraham sagte: Gott wird sich das Lamm für das Brandopfer ausersehen, mein Sohn. Und beide gingen miteinander weiter. 9 Als sie an den Ort kamen, den ihm Gott genannt hatte, baute Abraham dort den Altar, schichtete das Holz auf, band seinen Sohn Isaak und legte ihn auf den Altar, oben auf das Holz. 10 Abraham streckte seine Hand aus und nahm das Messer, um seinen Sohn zu schlachten. (Hebr 11,17; Jak 2,21) 11 Da rief ihm der Engel des HERRN vom Himmel her zu und sagte: Abraham, Abraham! Er antwortete: Hier bin ich. 12 Er sprach: Streck deine Hand nicht gegen den Knaben aus und tu ihm nichts zuleide! Denn jetzt weiß ich, dass du Gott fürchtest; du hast mir deinen Sohn, deinen einzigen, nicht vorenthalten. (Röm 8,32) 13 Abraham erhob seine Augen, sah hin und siehe, ein Widder hatte sich hinter ihm mit seinen Hörnern im Gestrüpp verfangen. Abraham ging hin, nahm den Widder und brachte ihn statt seines Sohnes als Brandopfer dar. 14 Abraham gab jenem Ort den Namen: Der HERR sieht, wie man noch heute sagt: Auf dem Berg lässt sich der HERR sehen. (1Mo 16,13) 15 Der Engel des HERRN rief Abraham zum zweiten Mal vom Himmel her zu 16 und sprach: Ich habe bei mir geschworen - Spruch des HERRN: Weil du das getan hast und deinen Sohn, deinen einzigen, mir nicht vorenthalten hast, 17 will ich dir Segen schenken in Fülle und deine Nachkommen überaus zahlreich machen wie die Sterne am Himmel und den Sand am Meeresstrand. Deine Nachkommen werden das Tor ihrer Feinde einnehmen. (1Mo 15,5; 1Mo 24,60; 1Mo 32,13; Hebr 6,14)

18 Segnen werden sich mit deinen Nachkommen alle Völker der Erde, weil du auf meine Stimme gehört hast. (1Mo 18,18) 19 Darauf kehrte Abraham zu seinen Jungknechten zurück. Sie machten sich auf und gingen miteinander nach Beerscheba. Abraham blieb in Beerscheba wohnen.

Die Nachkommen Nahors

20 Nach diesen Ereignissen meldete man Abraham: Siehe, auch Milka hat deinem Bruder Nahor Söhne geboren: (1Mo 11,29) 21 Uz, seinen Erstgeborenen, dessen Bruder Bus und Kemuël, den Stammvater der Aramäer, 22 ferner Kesed, Haso, Pildasch, Jidlaf und Betuël. 23 Betuël zeugte Rebekka. Diese acht gebar Milka dem Nahor, dem Bruder Abrahams. (1Mo 24,1) 24 Er hatte noch eine Nebenfrau namens Rëuma. Auch sie bekam Kinder, nämlich Tebach, Gaham, Tahasch und Maacha.

God tests Abraham

1 Some time later God tested Abraham. He said to him, ‘Abraham!’ ‘Here I am,’ Abraham replied. 2 Then God said, ‘Take your son, your only son. He is the one you love. Take Isaac. Go to the place called Moriah. Give your son to me there as a burnt offering. Sacrifice him on the mountain I will show you.’ 3 Early the next morning Abraham got up and loaded his donkey. He took two of his servants and his son Isaac with him. He cut enough wood for the burnt offering. Then he started out for the place God had shown him. 4 On the third day Abraham saw the place a long way off. 5 He said to his servants, ‘Stay here with the donkey. I and the boy will go over there and worship. Then we’ll come back to you.’ 6 Abraham had his son Isaac carry the wood for the burnt offering. He himself carried the fire and the knife. And the two of them walked on together. 7 Then Isaac said to his father Abraham, ‘Father?’ ‘Yes, my son?’ Abraham replied. ‘The fire and wood are here,’ Isaac said. ‘But where is the lamb for the burnt offering?’ 8 Abraham answered, ‘God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.’ And the two of them walked on together. 9 They reached the place God had shown Abraham. There Abraham built an altar. He arranged the wood on it. He tied up his son Isaac. Abraham placed him on the altar, on top of the wood. 10 Then he reached out his hand. He picked up the knife to kill his son. 11 But the angel of the LORD called out to him from heaven. He said, ‘Abraham! Abraham!’ ‘Here I am,’ Abraham replied. 12 ‘Do not lay a hand on the boy,’ he said. ‘Do not harm him. Now I know that you would do anything for God. You have not held back from me your son, your only son.’ 13 Abraham looked round. There in a bush he saw a ram caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram. He sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son. 14 So Abraham named that place The LORD Will Provide. To this day people say, ‘It will be provided on the mountain of the LORD.’ 15 The angel of the LORD called out to Abraham from heaven a second time. 16 He said, ‘I am giving you my word that I will bless you. I will bless you because of what you have done,’ announces the LORD. ‘You have not held back your son, your only son. 17 So I will certainly bless you. I will make the children born into your family as many as the stars in the sky. I will make them as many as the grains of sand on the seashore. They will take over the cities of their enemies. 18 All nations on earth will be blessed because of your children. All these things will happen because you have obeyed me.’ 19 Then Abraham returned to his servants. They started out together for Beersheba. And Abraham stayed in Beersheba.

Nahor’s sons

20 Some time later Abraham was told, ‘Milkah has become a mother. She has had sons by your brother Nahor. 21 Uz was born first. Then came his brother Buz. Kemuel was born next. He became the father of Aram. 22 Milkah’s other sons are Kesed, Hazo, Pildash, Jidlaph and Bethuel.’ 23 Bethuel became the father of Rebekah. Milkah had the eight sons by Abraham’s brother Nahor. 24 Nahor had a concubine named Reumah. She also had sons. They were Tebah, Gaham, Tahash and Maakah.
