Samuels Geburt

1 Einst lebte ein Mann aus Ramatajim, ein Zufiter vom Gebirge Efraim. Er hieß Elkana und war ein Sohn Jerohams, des Sohnes Elihus, des Sohnes Tohus, des Sohnes Zufs, ein Efraimiter.^[1] (1Chr 6,11) 2 Er hatte zwei Frauen. Die eine hieß Hanna, die andere Peninna. Peninna hatte Kinder, Hanna aber hatte keine Kinder. 3 Dieser Mann zog Jahr für Jahr von seiner Stadt hinauf, um den HERRN der Heerscharen in Schilo anzubeten und ihm zu opfern. Dort waren Hofni und Pinhas, die beiden Söhne Elis, Priester des HERRN. (Jos 18,1; Ri 21,19) 4 An dem Tag, an dem Elkana das Opfer darbrachte, gab er seiner Frau Peninna und all ihren Söhnen und Töchtern ihre Anteile. (1Sam 4,4) 5 Hanna aber gab er einen doppelten Anteil; denn er hatte Hanna lieb, obwohl der HERR ihren Schoß verschlossen hatte.^[2] (5Mo 21,15) 6 Ihre Rivalin aber kränkte und demütigte sie sehr, weil der HERR ihren Schoß verschlossen hatte. (1Mo 16,1; 1Mo 29,31) 7 So machte es Elkana Jahr für Jahr. Sooft sie zum Haus des HERRN hinaufzogen, kränkte Peninna sie; und Hanna weinte und aß nichts. 8 Ihr Mann Elkana fragte sie: Hanna, warum weinst du, warum isst du nichts, warum ist dein Herz betrübt? Bin ich dir nicht viel mehr wert als zehn Söhne? (Rut 4,15) 9 Nachdem man in Schilo gegessen und getrunken hatte, stand Hanna auf. Der Priester Eli saß an den Türpfosten des Tempels des HERRN auf seinem Stuhl.^[3] 10 Hanna war verzweifelt, betete zum HERRN und weinte sehr. 11 Sie machte ein Gelübde und sagte: HERR der Heerscharen, wenn du das Elend deiner Magd wirklich ansiehst, wenn du an mich denkst und deine Magd nicht vergisst und deiner Magd einen männlichen Nachkommen schenkst, dann will ich ihn für sein ganzes Leben dem HERRN überlassen; kein Schermesser soll an sein Haupt kommen. (Ri 13,5; Hi 7,11) 12 So betete sie lange vor dem HERRN. Eli beobachtete ihren Mund; 13 denn Hanna redete in ihrem Herzen, ihre Lippen bewegten sich, doch ihre Stimme war nicht zu hören. Eli hielt sie deshalb für betrunken 14 und sagte zu ihr: Wie lange willst du dich noch wie eine Betrunkene aufführen? Sieh zu, dass du deinen Weinrausch los wirst! (Apg 2,13) 15 Hanna gab zur Antwort: Nein, Herr! Ich bin eine unglückliche Frau. Ich habe weder Wein getrunken noch Bier; ich habe nur dem HERRN mein Herz ausgeschüttet. (Kla 2,19) 16 Halte deine Magd nicht für eine nichtsnutzige Frau; denn nur aus großem Kummer und aus Traurigkeit habe ich so lange geredet. 17 Eli erwiderte und sagte: Geh in Frieden! Der Gott Israels wird dir die Bitte erfüllen, die du an ihn gerichtet hast. (1Sam 20,42) 18 Sie sagte: Möge deine Magd Gnade finden vor deinen Augen. Dann ging sie weg; sie aß wieder und hatte kein trauriges Gesicht mehr. (Rut 2,13) 19 Am nächsten Morgen standen sie früh auf und beteten den HERRN an. Dann machten sie sich auf den Heimweg und kehrten in ihr Haus nach Rama zurück. Elkana erkannte seine Frau Hanna; der HERR dachte an sie 20 und um die Jahreswende wurde Hanna schwanger. Sie gebar einen Sohn und nannte ihn Samuel, denn sie sagte: Ich habe ihn vom HERRN erbeten. (1Mo 30,22)

21 Als dann Elkana mit seiner ganzen Familie wieder hinaufzog, um dem HERRN das jährliche Opfer und die Gaben, die er gelobt hatte, darzubringen, 22 zog Hanna nicht mit, sondern sagte zu ihrem Mann: Ich werde den Knaben erst, wenn er entwöhnt ist, hinaufbringen; dann soll er vor dem Angesicht des HERRN erscheinen und für immer dort bleiben. (2Mak 7,27) 23 Ihr Mann Elkana sagte zu ihr: Tu, was dir gefällt! Bleib hier, bis du ihn entwöhnt hast! Wenn nur der HERR sein Wort erfüllt! Die Frau blieb also daheim und stillte ihren Sohn, bis sie ihn entwöhnte. (4Mo 30,4) 24 Als sie ihn entwöhnt hatte, nahm sie ihn mit hinauf, dazu einen dreijährigen Stier, ein Efa Mehl und einen Schlauch Wein. So brachte sie ihn zum Haus des HERRN in Schilo; der Knabe aber war damals noch sehr jung. 25 Als sie den Stier geschlachtet hatten, brachten sie den Knaben zu Eli 26 und Hanna sagte: Bitte, mein Herr, so wahr du lebst, mein Herr, ich bin die Frau, die damals neben dir stand, um zum HERRN zu beten. 27 Ich habe um diesen Knaben gebetet und der HERR hat mir die Bitte erfüllt, die ich an ihn gerichtet habe. 28 Darum lasse ich ihn auch vom HERRN zurückfordern. Er soll für sein ganzes Leben ein vom HERRN Zurückgeforderter sein. Und sie beteten dort den HERRN an. (Sir 46,13)

Dann weinte Hanna und aß nichts. 8 Elkana aber, ihr Mann, sprach zu ihr: Hanna, warum weinst du und warum isst du nichts? Und warum ist dein Herz so traurig? Bin ich dir nicht mehr wert als zehn Söhne? 9 Da stand Hanna auf, nachdem sie in Silo gegessen und getrunken hatten. Ich bin eine betrübte Frau; Wein und starkes Getränk hab ich nicht getrunken, sondern habe mein Herz vor dem HERRN ausgeschüttet. 16 Du wollest deine Magd nicht für eine zuchtlose Frau halten, denn ich hab aus meinem großen Kummer und aus Traurigkeit so lange geredet. 17 Eli antwortete und sprach: Gehe hin mit Frieden; der Gott Israels wird dir geben, was du von ihm erbeten hast. 18 Sie sprach: Lass deine Magd Gnade finden vor deinen Augen. Da ging die Frau ihres Weges und aß und sah nicht mehr so traurig drein. 19 Und am andern Morgen machten sie sich früh auf. Und als sie angebetet hatten vor dem HERRN, kehrten sie wieder um und kamen heim nach Rama. Und Elkana erkannte Hanna, seine Frau, und der HERR gedachte an sie. (1Mo 30,22) 20 Und als die Tage um waren, ward Hanna schwanger, und sie gebar einen Sohn und nannte ihn Samuel; denn, so sprach sie, ich hab ihn von dem HERRN erbeten. 21 Und als der Mann Elkana hinaufzog mit seinem ganzen Hause, um dem HERRN das jährliche Opfer zu opfern und was er gelobt hatte, 22 zog Hanna nicht mit hinauf, sondern sprach zu ihrem Mann: Wenn der Knabe entwöhnt ist, will ich ihn bringen, dass er vor dem HERRN erscheine und bleibe dort für immer. 23 Elkana, ihr Mann, sprach zu ihr: So tu, wie dir’s gefällt! Bleib, bis du ihn entwöhnt hast; der HERR bestätige aber, was er geredet hat. So blieb die Frau und stillte ihren Sohn, bis sie ihn entwöhnt hatte. 24 Nachdem sie ihn entwöhnt hatte, nahm sie ihn mit sich hinauf, dazu einen dreijährigen Stier, einen Scheffel Mehl und einen Krug Wein, und brachte ihn in das Haus des HERRN nach Silo. Der Knabe war aber noch jung. (4Mo 15,3; 4Mo 15,8) 25 Und sie schlachteten den Stier und brachten den Knaben zu Eli. 26 Und sie sprach: Ach, mein Herr, so wahr du lebst, mein Herr: Ich bin die Frau, die hier bei dir stand, um zum HERRN zu beten. 27 Um diesen Knaben bat ich. Nun hat der HERR mir gegeben, was ich von ihm erbeten habe. 28 Darum gebe ich ihn dem HERRN wieder sein Leben lang, weil er vom HERRN erbeten ist. Und sie beteten dort den HERRN an. Now Eli the priest sat upon a seat by a post of the temple of the LORD. 10 And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the LORD, and wept sore. 11 And she vowed a vow, and said, O LORD of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the LORD all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head. 12 And it came to pass, as she continued praying before the LORD, that Eli marked her mouth. 13 Now Hannah, she spake in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard: therefore Eli thought she had been drunken. 14 And Eli said unto her, How long wilt thou be drunken? put away thy wine from thee. 15 And Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before the LORD. 16 Count not thine handmaid for a daughter of Belial: for out of the abundance of my complaint and grief have I spoken hitherto. 17 Then Eli answered and said, Go in peace: and the God of Israel grant thee thy petition that thou hast asked of him. 18 And she said, Let thine handmaid find grace in thy sight.
