1 Jesus erfuhr, dass die Pharisäer gehört hatten, er gewinne und taufe mehr Jünger als Johannes - 2 allerdings taufte nicht Jesus selbst, sondern seine Jünger -; 3 daraufhin verließ er Judäa und ging wieder nach Galiläa. (Mt 4,12; Mk 1,14; Lk 4,14) 4 Er musste aber den Weg durch Samarien nehmen. 5 So kam er zu einer Stadt in Samarien, die Sychar hieß und nahe bei dem Grundstück lag, das Jakob seinem Sohn Josef vermacht hatte. (1Mo 33,18; 1Mo 48,22; Jos 24,32) 6 Dort befand sich der Jakobsbrunnen. Jesus war müde von der Reise und setzte sich daher an den Brunnen; es war um die sechste Stunde. 7 Da kam eine Frau aus Samarien, um Wasser zu schöpfen. Jesus sagte zu ihr: Gib mir zu trinken! 8 Seine Jünger waren nämlich in die Stadt gegangen, um etwas zum Essen zu kaufen. (Lk 9,52) 9 Die Samariterin sagte zu ihm: Wie kannst du als Jude mich, eine Samariterin, um etwas zu trinken bitten? Die Juden verkehren nämlich nicht mit den Samaritern. 10 Jesus antwortete ihr: Wenn du wüsstest, worin die Gabe Gottes besteht und wer es ist, der zu dir sagt: Gib mir zu trinken!, dann hättest du ihn gebeten und er hätte dir lebendiges Wasser gegeben. (Joh 7,38) 11 Sie sagte zu ihm: Herr, du hast kein Schöpfgefäß und der Brunnen ist tief; woher hast du also das lebendige Wasser? 12 Bist du etwa größer als unser Vater Jakob, der uns den Brunnen gegeben und selbst daraus getrunken hat, wie seine Söhne und seine Herden? 13 Jesus antwortete ihr: Wer von diesem Wasser trinkt, wird wieder Durst bekommen; 14 wer aber von dem Wasser trinkt, das ich ihm geben werde, wird niemals mehr Durst haben; vielmehr wird das Wasser, das ich ihm gebe, in ihm zu einer Quelle werden, deren Wasser ins ewige Leben fließt. (Ps 36,10; Jes 58,11; Sir 24,21) 15 Da sagte die Frau zu ihm: Herr, gib mir dieses Wasser, damit ich keinen Durst mehr habe und nicht mehr hierherkommen muss, um Wasser zu schöpfen! 16 Er sagte zu ihr: Geh, ruf deinen Mann und komm wieder her! 17 Die Frau antwortete: Ich habe keinen Mann. Jesus sagte zu ihr: Du hast richtig gesagt: Ich habe keinen Mann. 18 Denn fünf Männer hast du gehabt und der, den du jetzt hast, ist nicht dein Mann. Damit hast du die Wahrheit gesagt. 19 Die Frau sagte zu ihm: Herr, ich sehe, dass du ein Prophet bist. (Joh 9,17) 20 Unsere Väter haben auf diesem Berg Gott angebetet; ihr aber sagt, in Jerusalem sei die Stätte, wo man anbeten muss.[1] (5Mo 27,4) 21 Jesus sprach zu ihr: Glaube mir, Frau, die Stunde kommt, zu der ihr weder auf diesem Berg noch in Jerusalem den Vater anbeten werdet. 22 Ihr betet an, was ihr nicht kennt, wir beten an, was wir kennen; denn das Heil kommt von den Juden. (2Kön 17,29; Jes 2,3) 23 Aber die Stunde kommt und sie ist schon da, zu der die wahren Beter den Vater anbeten werden im Geist und in der Wahrheit; denn so will der Vater angebetet werden. 24 Gott ist Geist und alle, die ihn anbeten, müssen im Geist und in der Wahrheit anbeten. 25 Die Frau sagte zu ihm: Ich weiß, dass der Messias kommt, der Christus heißt. Wenn er kommt, wird er uns alles verkünden. (5Mo 18,18) 26 Da sagte Jesus zu ihr: Ich bin es, der mit dir spricht. (Joh 9,37) 27 Inzwischen waren seine Jünger zurückgekommen. Sie wunderten sich, dass er mit einer Frau sprach, doch keiner sagte: Was suchst du? oder: Was redest du mit ihr? 28 Die Frau ließ ihren Wasserkrug stehen, kehrte zurück in die Stadt und sagte zu den Leuten: 29 Kommt her, seht, da ist ein Mensch, der mir alles gesagt hat, was ich getan habe: Ist er vielleicht der Christus? 30 Da gingen sie aus der Stadt heraus und kamen zu ihm. 31 Währenddessen baten ihn seine Jünger: Rabbi, iss! 32 Er aber sagte zu ihnen: Ich habe eine Speise zu essen, die ihr nicht kennt. 33 Da sagten die Jünger zueinander: Hat ihm jemand etwas zu essen gebracht? 34 Jesus sprach zu ihnen: Meine Speise ist es, den Willen dessen zu tun, der mich gesandt hat, und sein Werk zu vollenden. (Joh 5,30; Joh 17,4; Joh 19,30; Hebr 10,5) 35 Sagt ihr nicht: Noch vier Monate dauert es bis zur Ernte? Sieh, ich sage euch: Erhebt eure Augen und seht, dass die Felder schon weiß sind zur Ernte! (Lk 10,2) 36 Schon empfängt der Schnitter seinen Lohn und sammelt Frucht für das ewige Leben, sodass sich der Sämann und der Schnitter gemeinsam freuen. (Ps 126,5; Jes 9,2) 37 Denn hier hat das Sprichwort recht: Einer sät und ein anderer erntet. 38 Ich habe euch gesandt zu ernten, wofür ihr euch nicht abgemüht habt; andere haben sich abgemüht und euch ist ihre Mühe zugutegekommen. (Joh 17,18) 39 Aus jener Stadt kamen viele Samariter zum Glauben an Jesus auf das Wort der Frau hin, die bezeugt hatte: Er hat mir alles gesagt, was ich getan habe. 40 Als die Samariter zu ihm kamen, baten sie ihn, bei ihnen zu bleiben; und er blieb dort zwei Tage. 41 Und noch viel mehr Leute kamen zum Glauben an ihn aufgrund seiner eigenen Worte. 42 Und zu der Frau sagten sie: Nicht mehr aufgrund deiner Rede glauben wir, denn wir haben selbst gehört und wissen: Er ist wirklich der Retter der Welt. (1Joh 4,14) 



43 Nach diesen beiden Tagen ging er von dort nach Galiläa. 44 Jesus selbst hatte nämlich bezeugt: Ein Prophet wird in seiner eigenen Heimat nicht geehrt. (Mt 13,57; Mk 6,4; Lk 4,24) 45 Als er nun nach Galiläa kam, nahmen ihn die Galiläer auf, weil sie alles gesehen hatten, was er in Jerusalem auf dem Fest getan hatte; denn auch sie waren zum Fest gekommen. 



46 Jesus kam wieder nach Kana in Galiläa, wo er das Wasser in Wein verwandelt hatte. In Kafarnaum lebte ein königlicher Beamter; dessen Sohn war krank. (Mt 8,5; Lk 7,1; Joh 2,1) 47 Als er hörte, dass Jesus von Judäa nach Galiläa gekommen war, suchte er ihn auf und bat ihn, herabzukommen und seinen Sohn zu heilen; denn er lag im Sterben. 48 Da sagte Jesus zu ihm: Wenn ihr nicht Zeichen und Wunder seht, glaubt ihr nicht. (Joh 2,18; Joh 6,26; Joh 12,37; Joh 20,30) 49 Der Beamte bat ihn: Herr, komm herab, ehe mein Kind stirbt! 50 Jesus erwiderte ihm: Geh, dein Sohn lebt! Der Mann glaubte dem Wort, das Jesus zu ihm gesagt hatte, und machte sich auf den Weg. (1Kön 17,23) 51 Noch während er hinabging, kamen ihm seine Diener entgegen und sagten: Dein Junge lebt. 52 Da fragte er sie genau nach der Stunde, in der die Besserung eingetreten war. Sie antworteten: Gestern in der siebten Stunde ist das Fieber von ihm gewichen. 53 Da erkannte der Vater, dass es genau zu der Stunde war, als Jesus zu ihm gesagt hatte: Dein Sohn lebt. Und er wurde gläubig mit seinem ganzen Haus. 54 So tat Jesus sein zweites Zeichen, nachdem er von Judäa nach Galiläa gekommen war. (Joh 2,11)

1 Als nun Jesus erfuhr, dass den Pharisäern zu Ohren gekommen war, dass Jesus mehr zu Jüngern machte und taufte als Johannes – (Joh 3,22; Joh 3,26) 2 obwohl Jesus nicht selber taufte, sondern seine Jünger –, 3 verließ er Judäa und zog wieder nach Galiläa. 4 Er musste aber durch Samarien reisen. (Lk 9,51) 5 Da kam er in eine Stadt Samariens, die heißt Sychar, nahe bei dem Feld, das Jakob seinem Sohn Josef gegeben hatte. (1Mo 48,22; Jos 24,32) 6 Es war aber dort Jakobs Brunnen. Weil nun Jesus müde war von der Reise, setzte er sich an den Brunnen; es war um die sechste Stunde. 7 Da kommt eine Frau aus Samarien, um Wasser zu schöpfen. Jesus spricht zu ihr: Gib mir zu trinken! 8 Denn seine Jünger waren in die Stadt gegangen, um Speise zu kaufen. 9 Da spricht die samaritische Frau zu ihm: Wie, du, ein Jude, erbittest etwas zu trinken von mir, einer samaritischen Frau? Denn die Juden haben keine Gemeinschaft mit den Samaritern. – (Lk 9,52) 10 Jesus antwortete und sprach zu ihr: Wenn du erkenntest die Gabe Gottes und wer der ist, der zu dir sagt: Gib mir zu trinken!, du bätest ihn, und er gäbe dir lebendiges Wasser. (Joh 7,37) 11 Spricht zu ihm die Frau: Herr, du hast doch nichts, womit du schöpfen könntest, und der Brunnen ist tief; woher hast du denn lebendiges Wasser? 12 Bist du etwa mehr als unser Vater Jakob, der uns diesen Brunnen gegeben hat? Und er hat daraus getrunken und seine Söhne und sein Vieh. 13 Jesus antwortete und sprach zu ihr: Wer von diesem Wasser trinkt, den wird wieder dürsten; (Joh 6,58) 14 wer aber von dem Wasser trinkt, das ich ihm gebe, den wird in Ewigkeit nicht dürsten, sondern das Wasser, das ich ihm geben werde, das wird in ihm eine Quelle des Wassers werden, das in das ewige Leben quillt. (Ps 36,10; Joh 6,35; Joh 7,38) 15 Spricht die Frau zu ihm: Herr, gib mir dieses Wasser, damit mich nicht dürstet und ich nicht herkommen muss, um zu schöpfen! 16 Spricht er zu ihr: Geh hin, ruf deinen Mann und komm wieder her! 17 Die Frau antwortete und sprach zu ihm: Ich habe keinen Mann. Jesus spricht zu ihr: Du hast richtig gesagt: »Ich habe keinen Mann.« 18 Denn fünf Männer hast du gehabt, und der, den du jetzt hast, ist nicht dein Mann; das hast du recht gesagt. 19 Die Frau spricht zu ihm: Herr, ich sehe, dass du ein Prophet bist. (5Mo 12,5; Ps 122,1) 21 Jesus spricht zu ihr: Glaube mir, Frau, es kommt die Zeit, dass ihr weder auf diesem Berge noch in Jerusalem den Vater anbeten werdet. 22 Ihr betet an, was ihr nicht kennt; wir beten an, was wir kennen; denn das Heil kommt von den Juden. (2Kön 17,29; Jes 2,3) 23 Aber es kommt die Stunde und ist schon jetzt, dass die wahren Anbeter den Vater anbeten werden im Geist und in der Wahrheit; denn auch der Vater will solche Anbeter haben. 24 Gott ist Geist, und die ihn anbeten, die müssen ihn im Geist und in der Wahrheit anbeten. (Röm 12,1; 2Kor 3,17) 25 Spricht die Frau zu ihm: Ich weiß, dass der Messias kommt, der da Christus heißt. Wenn dieser kommt, wird er uns alles verkündigen. (Joh 1,41) 26 Jesus spricht zu ihr: Ich bin’s, der mit dir redet. 27 Unterdessen kamen seine Jünger, und sie wunderten sich, dass er mit einer Frau redete; doch sagte niemand: Was willst du?, oder: Was redest du mit ihr? 28 Da ließ die Frau ihren Krug stehen und ging hin in die Stadt und spricht zu den Leuten: 29 Kommt, seht einen Menschen, der mir alles gesagt hat, was ich getan habe, ob er nicht der Christus sei! 30 Da gingen sie aus der Stadt heraus und kamen zu ihm. 31 Unterdessen mahnten ihn die Jünger und sprachen: Rabbi, iss! 32 Er aber sprach zu ihnen: Ich habe eine Speise zu essen, von der ihr nicht wisst. 33 Da sprachen die Jünger untereinander: Hat ihm jemand zu essen gebracht? 34 Jesus spricht zu ihnen: Meine Speise ist die, dass ich tue den Willen dessen, der mich gesandt hat, und vollende sein Werk. (Joh 6,38; Joh 17,4) 35 Sagt ihr nicht selber: Es sind noch vier Monate, dann kommt die Ernte? Siehe, ich sage euch: Hebt eure Augen auf und seht auf die Felder: sie sind schon reif zur Ernte. (Mt 9,37) 36 Wer erntet, empfängt Lohn und sammelt Frucht zum ewigen Leben, auf dass sich miteinander freuen, der da sät und der da erntet. 37 Denn hier ist der Spruch wahr: Der eine sät, der andere erntet. 38 Ich habe euch gesandt zu ernten, wo ihr nicht gearbeitet habt; andere haben gearbeitet, und ihr seid in ihre Arbeit eingetreten. 39 Es glaubten aber an ihn viele der Samariter aus dieser Stadt um des Wortes der Frau willen, die bezeugte: Er hat mir alles gesagt, was ich getan habe. 40 Als nun die Samariter zu ihm kamen, baten sie ihn, dass er bei ihnen bleibe; und er blieb dort zwei Tage. 41 Und noch viel mehr glaubten um seines Wortes willen. 42 Und sie sprachen zu der Frau: Nun glauben wir nicht mehr um deiner Rede willen; denn wir haben selber gehört und erkannt: Dieser ist wahrlich der Welt Heiland. (Apg 8,5; 1Joh 4,14) 43 Aber nach den zwei Tagen zog er von dort nach Galiläa. (Mt 4,12) 44 Denn er selber, Jesus, bezeugte, dass ein Prophet in seiner Vaterstadt nichts gilt. (Mt 13,57) 45 Als er nun nach Galiläa kam, nahmen ihn die Galiläer auf, die alles gesehen hatten, was er in Jerusalem auf dem Fest getan hatte; denn sie waren auch zum Fest gekommen. (Joh 2,23) 



46 Und Jesus kam abermals nach Kana in Galiläa, wo er das Wasser zu Wein gemacht hatte. Und es war ein Mann im Dienst des Königs; dessen Sohn lag krank in Kapernaum. (Mt 8,5; Lk 7,1; Joh 2,1; Joh 2,9) 47 Dieser hörte, dass Jesus aus Judäa nach Galiläa gekommen war, und ging hin zu ihm und bat ihn, herabzukommen und seinen Sohn zu heilen; denn der war todkrank. 48 Da sprach Jesus zu ihm: Wenn ihr nicht Zeichen und Wunder seht, so glaubt ihr nicht. (Joh 2,18; 1Kor 1,22) 49 Der königliche Beamte sprach zu ihm: Herr, komm herab, ehe mein Kind stirbt! 50 Jesus spricht zu ihm: Geh hin, dein Sohn lebt! Der Mann glaubte dem Wort, das Jesus zu ihm sagte, und ging hin. 51 Und während er noch hinabging, begegneten ihm seine Knechte und sagten: Dein Kind lebt. 52 Da fragte er sie nach der Stunde, in der es besser mit ihm geworden war. Und sie antworteten ihm: Gestern um die siebente Stunde verließ ihn das Fieber. 53 Da merkte der Vater, dass es zu der Stunde war, in der Jesus zu ihm gesagt hatte: Dein Sohn lebt. Und er glaubte mit seinem ganzen Hause. 54 Das ist nun das zweite Zeichen, das Jesus tat, als er aus Judäa nach Galiläa kam. (Joh 2,11)

1 Now when Jesus learned that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making and baptizing more disciples than John (Joh 3,22; Joh 3,26) 2 (although Jesus himself did not baptize, but only his disciples), 3 he left Judea and departed again for Galilee. (Joh 2,11) 4 And he had to pass through Samaria. (Lk 13,33) 5 So he came to a town of Samaria called Sychar, near the field that Jacob had given to his son Joseph. (1Mo 33,19; 1Mo 48,22; Jos 24,32; Joh 4,12) 6 Jacob’s well was there; so Jesus, wearied as he was from his journey, was sitting beside the well. It was about the sixth hour.[1] (Mt 4,2; Mt 8,24; Mt 21,18; Joh 19,28) 7 A woman from Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give me a drink.” (Joh 4,6) 8 (For his disciples had gone away into the city to buy food.) 9 The Samaritan woman said to him, “How is it that you, a Jew, ask for a drink from me, a woman of Samaria?” (For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.) Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are white for harvest. Others have labored, and you have entered into their labor.” (Jos 24,13; Apg 8,5; Apg 8,25) 39 Many Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me all that I ever did.” (Joh 4,5; Joh 4,8; Joh 4,29; Joh 17,20) 40 So when the Samaritans came to him, they asked him to stay with them, and he stayed there two days. 41 And many more believed because of his word. (Joh 8,30) 42 They said to the woman, “It is no longer because of what you said that we believe, for we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this is indeed the Savior of the world.” (Joh 1,29; Joh 3,17; Joh 12,47; 1Tim 4,10; 1Joh 4,14; 1Joh 5,20) 43 After the two days he departed for Galilee. (Joh 4,40) 44 (For Jesus himself had testified that a prophet has no honor in his own hometown.) (Mt 13,57) 45 So when he came to Galilee, the Galileans welcomed him, having seen all that he had done in Jerusalem at the feast. For they too had gone to the feast. (Joh 2,23; Joh 3,2; Joh 4,20) 



46 So he came again to Cana in Galilee, where he had made the water wine. And at Capernaum there was an official whose son was ill. (Joh 2,1; Joh 2,9) 47 When this man heard that Jesus had come from Judea to Galilee, he went to him and asked him to come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death. (Joh 4,3; Joh 4,54) 48 So Jesus said to him, “Unless you[3] see signs and wonders you will not believe.” (Joh 2,18; Joh 6,30; Joh 20,29) 49 The official said to him, “Sir, come down before my child dies.” (Mk 5,35; Lk 8,49; Joh 11,21; Joh 11,32) 50 Jesus said to him, “Go; your son will live.” The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him and went on his way. 51 As he was going down, his servants[4] met him and told him that his son was recovering. 52 So he asked them the hour when he began to get better, and they said to him, “Yesterday at the seventh hour[5] the fever left him.” 53 The father knew that was the hour when Jesus had said to him, “Your son will live.” And he himself believed, and all his household. New International Version



1 Now Jesus learned that the Pharisees had heard that he was gaining and baptising more disciples than John – 2 although in fact it was not Jesus who baptised, but his disciples. 3 So he left Judea and went back once more to Galilee. 4 Now he had to go through Samaria. 5 So he came to a town in Samaria called Sychar, near the plot of ground Jacob had given to his son Joseph. 6 Jacob’s well was there, and Jesus, tired as he was from the journey, sat down by the well. It was about noon. 7 When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, ‘Will you give me a drink?’ 8 (His disciples had gone into the town to buy food.) 9 The Samaritan woman said to him, ‘You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?’ (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.[1]) 10 Jesus answered her, ‘If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.’ 11 ‘Sir,’ the woman said, ‘you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? 12 Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his livestock?’ 13 Jesus answered, ‘Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.’ 15 The woman said to him, ‘Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water.’ 16 He told her, ‘Go, call your husband and come back.’ 17 ‘I have no husband,’ she replied. Jesus said to her, ‘You are right when you say you have no husband. 18 The fact is, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. What you have just said is quite true.’ 19 ‘Sir,’ the woman said, ‘I can see that you are a prophet. 20 Our ancestors worshipped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.’ 21 ‘Woman,’ Jesus replied, ‘believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. 22 You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshippers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshippers the Father seeks. 24 God is spirit, and his worshippers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.’ 25 The woman said, ‘I know that Messiah’ (called Christ) ‘is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.’ 26 Then Jesus declared, ‘I, the one speaking to you – I am he.’ 



27 Just then his disciples returned and were surprised to find him talking with a woman. But no-one asked, ‘What do you want?’ or ‘Why are you talking with her?’ 28 Then, leaving her water jar, the woman went back to the town and said to the people, 29 ‘Come, see a man who told me everything I’ve ever done. Could this be the Messiah?’ 30 They came out of the town and made their way towards him. 31 Meanwhile his disciples urged him, ‘Rabbi, eat something.’ 32 But he said to them, ‘I have food to eat that you know nothing about.’ 33 Then his disciples said to each other, ‘Could someone have brought him food?’ 34 ‘My food,’ said Jesus, ‘is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work. 35 Don’t you have a saying, “It’s still four months until harvest”? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest. 36 Even now the one who reaps draws a wage and harvests a crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together. 37 Thus the saying “One sows and another reaps” is true. 38 I sent you to reap what you have not worked for. Others have done the hard work, and you have reaped the benefits of their labour.’ 



39 Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony, ‘He told me everything I’ve ever done.’ 40 So when the Samaritans came to him, they urged him to stay with them, and he stayed two days. 41 And because of his words many more became believers. 42 They said to the woman, ‘We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Saviour of the world.’ 



43 After the two days he left for Galilee. 44 (Now Jesus himself had pointed out that a prophet has no honour in his own country.) 45 When he arrived in Galilee, the Galileans welcomed him. They had seen all that he had done in Jerusalem at the Passover Festival, for they also had been there. 46 Once more he visited Cana in Galilee, where he had turned the water into wine. And there was a certain royal official whose son lay ill at Capernaum. 47 When this man heard that Jesus had arrived in Galilee from Judea, he went to him and begged him to come and heal his son, who was close to death. 48 ‘Unless you people see signs and wonders,’ Jesus told him, ‘you will never believe.’ 49 The royal official said, ‘Sir, come down before my child dies.’ 50 ‘Go,’ Jesus replied, ‘your son will live.’ The man took Jesus at his word and departed. 51 While he was still on the way, his servants met him with the news that his boy was living. 52 When he enquired as to the time when his son got better, they said to him, ‘Yesterday, at one in the afternoon, the fever left him.’ 53 Then the father realised that this was the exact time at which Jesus had said to him, ‘Your son will live.’ So he and his whole household believed. 54 This was the second sign Jesus performed after coming from Judea to Galilee.
