1Das Wort des HERRN erging an mich:2Menschensohn, trag dem Haus Israel ein Rätsel vor, erzähl ihm ein Gleichnis! (Hes 21,5; Hes 24,3)3Sag: So spricht GOTT, der Herr:
Der große Adler mit großen Flügeln, / mit weiter Schwinge,
mit dichtem, buntem Gefieder kam zum Libanon / und nahm den Wipfel der Zeder weg.4Ihren obersten Zweig riss er ab. / Ins Land der Krämer brachte er ihn, / in die Stadt der Händler setzte er ihn.5Dann nahm er vom Samen des Landes / und gab ihn in ein Saatfeld,
als Schössling an reichliche Wasser, / als Uferpflanze setzte er ihn6und er spross / und wurde zum üppigen Weinstock / von niedrigem Wuchs.
Seine Ranken wandten sich ihm zu / und seine Wurzeln blieben ihm untertan.
Und er wurde zum Weinstock, / bildete Triebe, entfaltete Zweige. (Hes 15,2; Hes 19,10)7Doch da war noch ein anderer großer Adler / mit großen Flügeln und reichlich Gefieder.
Und siehe, da drehte dieser Weinstock seine Wurzeln zu ihm hin, / trieb ihm seine Ranken entgegen,
damit er ihm zu trinken gab, / mehr als das Beet, in das er gepflanzt war.[1]8Er war doch auf gutes Feld gepflanzt, / an reichliche Wasser,
um Zweige zu treiben und Frucht zu tragen / und ein herrlicher Weinstock zu werden.9Sag: So spricht GOTT, der Herr: / Wird das gelingen?
Wird nicht einer seine Wurzeln ausreißen / und seine Frucht verderben,
sodass all seine grünenden Triebe verdorren? / Er wird verdorren.
Man braucht keinen starken Arm und nicht viel Volk, / um ihn aus den Wurzeln zu heben.10Siehe, er ist gepflanzt, / doch wird es gelingen?
Wird er nicht völlig verdorren, / wenn der Ostwind ihn trifft?
Auf dem Beet, in dem er spross, / wird er verdorren. (Hes 19,12; Hes 27,26; Hos 13,15)11Und das Wort des HERRN erging an mich: (2Kön 24,10)12Sag doch zum Haus der Widerspenstigkeit: Erkennt ihr denn nicht, was all das bedeutet? Sag: Siehe, nach Jerusalem kam der König von Babel; er nahm ihren König und ihre Beamten gefangen und führte sie mit sich nach Babel.13Und er nahm einen aus dem königlichen Stamm und schloss mit ihm einen Bund und er ließ ihn schwören. Die Mächtigen des Landes nahm er gefangen,14damit das Königtum niedrig bleibe und sich nicht erhebe, damit es seinen Bund hielt, sodass es Bestand haben konnte.15Doch er wurde von ihm abtrünnig, weil er seine Boten nach Ägypten sandte, damit man ihm Pferde und viel Volk gab. Wird es gelingen? Wird davonkommen, der das unternimmt? Wenn er den Bund bricht, wird er davonkommen? (Jes 31,1)16So wahr ich lebe - Spruch GOTTES, des Herrn: Am Ort des Königs, der ihn zum König gemacht hat, dessen Eid er missachtet und dessen Bund er gebrochen hat, bei ihm, mitten in Babel, wird er sterben.17Denn der Pharao wird ihn im Kampf nicht mit großer Streitmacht und zahlreichem Aufgebot unterstützen, wenn man einen Damm aufschüttet und einen Belagerungswall baut, um viele Menschenleben auszumerzen.18Er hat den Eid missachtet, da er den Bund brach. Siehe, er hat seinen Handschlag gegeben und hat doch all das getan. Er wird nicht davonkommen.19Darum - so spricht GOTT, der Herr: So wahr ich lebe - meinen Eid, den er missachtet, und meinen Bund, den er gebrochen hat, ich lasse sie auf sein Haupt zurückfallen.20Ich werfe mein Netz über ihn, er wird gefangen in meinem Garn. Nach Babel führe ich ihn und gehe dort mit ihm ins Gericht wegen des Treubruchs, mit dem er mir die Treue gebrochen hat. (Hes 12,13; Hes 32,3; Hab 1,14)21Die Flüchtigen aus allen seinen Truppen fallen unter dem Schwert. Die Übriggebliebenen aber werden in alle Winde zerstreut. Dann werdet ihr erkennen, dass ich, der HERR, gesprochen habe. (Hes 5,2; Hes 36,19)22So spricht GOTT, der Herr: Ich selbst nehme vom hohen Wipfel der Zeder und setze ihn ein. Einen zarten Zweig aus ihren obersten Ästen breche ich ab, ich selbst pflanze ihn auf einen hohen und aufragenden Berg. (Jes 11,1; Jer 23,5; Hes 20,40; Hes 34,14; Hes 36,8; Dan 4,9; Mt 13,32)23Auf dem hohen Berg Israels pflanze ich ihn. Dort treibt er dann Zweige, er trägt Früchte und wird zur prächtigen Zeder. Alle Vögel wohnen darin; alles, was Flügel hat, wohnt im Schatten ihrer Zweige.24Dann werden alle Bäume des Feldes erkennen, dass ich der HERR bin. Ich mache den hohen Baum niedrig, den niedrigen Baum mache ich hoch. Ich lasse den grünenden Baum verdorren, den verdorrten Baum lasse ich erblühen. Ich, der HERR, habe gesprochen und ich führe es aus.
1The word of the Lord came to me:2“Son of man, propound a riddle, and speak a parable to the house of Israel; (Hes 2,1; Hes 20,49; Hes 24,3)3say, Thus says the Lord God: A great eagle with great wings and long pinions, rich in plumage of many colors, came to Lebanon and took the top of the cedar. (Jer 22,23; Jer 48,40; Hes 17,7; Hes 17,22; Hes 31,3; Hes 31,10)4He broke off the topmost of its young twigs and carried it to a land of trade and set it in a city of merchants.5Then he took of the seed of the land and planted it in fertile soil.[1] He placed it beside abundant waters. He set it like a willow twig, (5Mo 8,7; Jes 44,4)6and it sprouted and became a low spreading vine, and its branches turned toward him, and its roots remained where it stood. So it became a vine and produced branches and put out boughs. (Hes 15,6; Hes 17,14)7“And there was another great eagle with great wings and much plumage, and behold, this vine bent its roots toward him and shot forth its branches toward him from the bed where it was planted, that he might water it. (Hes 17,15; Hes 31,4)8It had been planted on good soil by abundant waters, that it might produce branches and bear fruit and become a noble vine. (Hes 17,5)9“Say, Thus says the Lord God: Will it thrive? Will he not pull up its roots and cut off its fruit, so that it withers, so that all its fresh sprouting leaves wither? It will not take a strong arm or many people to pull it from its roots. (Hes 17,7)10Behold, it is planted; will it thrive? Will it not utterly wither when the east wind strikes it—wither away on the bed where it sprouted?” (Hes 19,12; Hos 13,15)11Then the word of the Lord came to me:12“Say now to the rebellious house, Do you not know what these things mean? Tell them, behold, the king of Babylon came to Jerusalem, and took her king and her princes and brought them to him to Babylon. (2Kön 24,11; Hes 2,3; Hes 12,9)13And he took one of the royal offspring[2] and made a covenant with him, putting him under oath (the chief men of the land he had taken away), (2Kön 24,14; 2Kön 24,17; 2Chr 36,13; Hes 17,15; Hes 17,18; Hes 21,23)14that the kingdom might be humble and not lift itself up, and keep his covenant that it might stand.15But he rebelled against him by sending his ambassadors to Egypt, that they might give him horses and a large army. Will he thrive? Can one escape who does such things? Can he break the covenant and yet escape? (5Mo 17,16; 2Kön 24,20; 2Chr 36,13; Jes 31,1; Jes 31,3; Jes 36,6; Jes 36,9; Jer 37,5; Hes 16,59; Hes 17,7; Hes 17,9; Hes 17,13; Hes 23,27)16“As I live, declares the Lord God, surely in the place where the king dwells who made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant with him he broke, in Babylon he shall die. (Hes 12,13; Hes 16,48; Hes 17,13)17Pharaoh with his mighty army and great company will not help him in war, when mounds are cast up and siege walls built to cut off many lives. (Jer 37,5; Hes 4,2; Hes 17,15)18He despised the oath in breaking the covenant, and behold, he gave his hand and did all these things; he shall not escape.19Therefore thus says the Lord God: As I live, surely it is my oath that he despised, and my covenant that he broke. I will return it upon his head.20I will spread my net over him, and he shall be taken in my snare, and I will bring him to Babylon and enter into judgment with him there for the treachery he has committed against me. (Hes 12,13; Hes 14,13; Hes 20,35; Hes 38,22)21And all the pick[3] of his troops shall fall by the sword, and the survivors shall be scattered to every wind, and you shall know that I am the Lord; I have spoken.” (Hes 5,10; Hes 17,24; Hes 21,17; Hes 21,32; Hes 26,5; Hes 26,14; Hes 28,10; Hes 30,12; Hes 34,24; Hes 39,5)22Thus says the Lord God: “I myself will take a sprig from the lofty top of the cedar and will set it out. I will break off from the topmost of its young twigs a tender one, and I myself will plant it on a high and lofty mountain. (Ps 2,6; Hes 17,3; Hes 17,4)23On the mountain height of Israel will I plant it, that it may bear branches and produce fruit and become a noble cedar. And under it will dwell every kind of bird; in the shade of its branches birds of every sort will nest. (Hes 20,40; Hes 31,6; Hes 34,14; Dan 4,12; Mt 13,32)24And all the trees of the field shall know that I am the Lord; I bring low the high tree, and make high the low tree, dry up the green tree, and make the dry tree flourish. I am the Lord; I have spoken, and I will do it.” (Hes 20,47; Hes 21,26; Hes 22,14; Hes 24,14; Hes 36,36; Hes 37,14; Lk 23,31)
