2 Der HERR blickt vom Himmel herab auf die Menschen, / um zu sehen, ob ein Verständiger da ist, einer, der Gott sucht. (Ps 33,13) 3 Sie alle sind abgewichen, alle zusammen sind verdorben, / da ist keiner, der Gutes tut, auch nicht ein Einziger. (1Mo 6,12; Ps 12,2) 4 Haben denn all die Übeltäter keine Einsicht? / Sie fressen mein Volk, als äßen sie Brot. Den HERRN rufen sie nicht an. (Mi 3,3) 5 Dort trifft sie ein gewaltiger Schrecken, denn Gott ist beim Geschlecht der Gerechten. 6 Den Plan für den Armen wollt ihr vereiteln, wenn seine Zuflucht der HERR ist? 7 Wer bringt vom Zion her Rettung für Israel? / Wenn der HERR das Geschick seines Volkes wendet, jubelt Jakob, freut sich Israel. (Ps 126,1; Jes 35,10)

1 Al direttore del coro. Di Davide. Lo stolto ha detto in cuor suo: «Non c’è Dio». Sono corrotti, fanno cose abominevoli; non c’è nessuno che faccia il bene. 2 Il Signore ha guardato dal cielo i figli degli uomini, per vedere se vi è una persona intelligente, che ricerchi Dio. 3 Tutti si sono sviati, tutti sono corrotti, non c’è nessuno che faccia il bene, neppure uno. 4 Sono dunque senza conoscenza tutti questi malvagi, che divorano il mio popolo come se fosse pane e non invocano il Signore? 5 Ma ecco, sono presi da grande spavento quando Dio appare in mezzo ai giusti. 6 Voi cercate di confondere le speranze del misero, perché il Signore è il suo rifugio. 7 Oh, chi darà da Sion la salvezza a Israele? Quando il Signore farà ritornare gli esuli del suo popolo, Giacobbe esulterà, Israele si rallegrerà.
