Da stiegen die Frösche herauf und bedeckten das Land Ägypten.3Doch die Wahrsager taten mit Hilfe ihrer Zauberkunst das Gleiche und ließen die Frösche über das Land Ägypten kommen.4Der Pharao rief Mose und Aaron zu sich und sagte: Betet zum HERRN, er möge mich und mein Volk von den Fröschen befreien. Dann will ich das Volk ziehen lassen und sie können dem HERRN Schlachtopfer darbringen.5Da sagte Mose zum Pharao: Verfüg über mich! Wann soll ich für dich, deine Diener und dein Volk um Beseitigung der Frösche von dir und aus deinen Häusern beten? Nur im Nil sollen sie erhalten bleiben.6Er sagte: Morgen. Mose antwortete: Wie du willst; du sollst erkennen, dass keiner dem HERRN, unserem Gott, gleichkommt.7Die Frösche werden von dir und deinen Häusern, von deinen Dienern und deinem Volk weichen; nur im Nil werden sie bleiben.8Als Mose und Aaron vom Pharao weggegangen waren, schrie Mose zum HERRN um Befreiung von der Froschplage, die er über den Pharao gebracht hatte.9Der HERR erfüllte Mose die Bitte und die Frösche in den Häusern, in den Höfen und auf den Feldern starben.10Man sammelte sie zu riesigen Haufen und das ganze Land stank davon.11Als der Pharao sah, dass die Not vorbei war, verschloss er sein Herz wieder und hörte nicht auf sie. So hatte es der HERR vorausgesagt.
Viertes Zeichen – Stechmücken
12Darauf sprach der HERR zu Mose: Sag zu Aaron: Streck deinen Stab aus und schlag damit auf den Staub der Erde! Im ganzen Land Ägypten sollen daraus Stechmücken werden.13Sie taten es. Aaron streckte die Hand aus und schlug mit seinem Stab auf den Staub der Erde. Da wurden Stechmücken daraus, die sich auf Mensch und Vieh setzten. Aller Staub der Erde wurde zu Stechmücken im ganzen Land Ägypten.14Die Wahrsager versuchten mit Hilfe ihrer Zauberkunst ebenfalls Stechmücken hervorzubringen, konnten es aber nicht. Die Stechmücken saßen auf Mensch und Vieh.15Da sagten die Wahrsager zum Pharao: Das ist der Finger Gottes. Doch das Herz des Pharao blieb hart und er hörte nicht auf sie. So hatte es der HERR vorausgesagt.
Fünftes Zeichen – Ungeziefer
16Darauf sprach der HERR zu Mose: Steh früh auf, tritt vor den Pharao, wenn er zum Wasser hinuntergeht, und sag zu ihm: So spricht der HERR: Lass mein Volk ziehen, damit sie mir dienen können!17Denn wenn du mein Volk nicht ziehen lässt, lasse ich Ungeziefer auf dich los, auf deine Diener, dein Volk und deine Häuser. Die Häuser in Ägypten werden voll Ungeziefer sein; es wird sogar den Boden, auf dem sie stehen, bedecken.18Das Land Goschen aber, in dem mein Volk lebt, will ich an jenem Tag auszeichnen: Dort wird es kein Ungeziefer geben. Daran wirst du erkennen, dass ich, der HERR, mitten im Land bin.19Ich mache einen Unterschied zwischen meinem und deinem Volk. Morgen wird das Zeichen geschehen.20Und so tat es der HERR. Ungeziefer kam in Massen über das Haus des Pharao, über das Haus seiner Diener und über das ganze Land Ägypten. Das Land erlitt durch das Ungeziefer schweren Schaden.21Da ließ der Pharao Mose und Aaron rufen und sagte: Geht, bringt eurem Gott hier im Land Schlachtopfer dar!22Doch Mose erwiderte: Das können wir nicht. Denn wir müssen dem HERRN, unserem Gott, Schlachtopfer darbringen, die bei den Ägyptern Anstoß erregen. Wenn wir vor ihren Augen Schlachtopfer darbringen, die bei ihnen Anstoß erregen, werden sie uns dann nicht steinigen?23Wir wollen drei Tagesmärsche weit in die Wüste ziehen und dem HERRN, unserem Gott, Schlachtopfer darbringen, wie er es uns gesagt hat.24Der Pharao antwortete: Ich lasse euch ziehen. Bringt also dem HERRN, eurem Gott, in der Wüste Schlachtopfer dar! Aber zu weit dürft ihr euch nicht entfernen. Betet auch für mich!25Darauf sagte Mose: Gut, ich gehe von dir fort und bete zum HERRN. Dann wird morgen das Ungeziefer vom Pharao, von seinen Dienern und seinem Volk ablassen. Nur darf der Pharao nicht wieder wortbrüchig werden und das Volk daran hindern, wegzuziehen und dem HERRN zu opfern.26Mose verließ den Pharao und betete zum HERRN.27Der HERR erfüllte Mose die Bitte und befreite den Pharao, seine Diener und sein Volk von dem Ungeziefer; nichts blieb übrig.28Der Pharao aber verschloss sein Herz auch diesmal und ließ das Volk nicht ziehen.

(2Mo 7,14; 2Mo 9,2; Offb 16,13)3The Nile shall swarm with frogs that shall come up into your house and into your bedroom and on your bed and into the houses of your servants and your people,[2] and into your ovens and your kneading bowls. (Ps 105,30)4The frogs shall come up on you and on your people and on all your servants.”’”5[3] And the LORD said to Moses, “Say to Aaron, ‘Stretch out your hand with your staff over the rivers, over the canals and over the pools, and make frogs come up on the land of Egypt!’” (2Mo 7,19)6So Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt, and the frogs came up and covered the land of Egypt. (Ps 78,45; Ps 105,30)7But the magicians did the same by their secret arts and made frogs come up on the land of Egypt. (2Mo 7,11)8Then Pharaoh called Moses and Aaron and said, “Plead with the LORD to take away the frogs from me and from my people, and I will let the people go to sacrifice to the LORD.” (2Mo 8,25; 2Mo 8,28; 2Mo 9,28; 2Mo 10,8; 2Mo 10,17; 2Mo 10,18; 2Mo 10,24; 2Mo 12,31; 2Mo 12,32; 4Mo 21,7; 1Kön 13,6; Apg 8,24)9Moses said to Pharaoh, “Be pleased to command me when I am to plead for you and for your servants and for your people, that the frogs be cut off from you and your houses and be left only in the Nile.” (2Mo 8,8)10And he said, “Tomorrow.” Moses said, “Be it as you say, so that you may know that there is no one like the LORD our God. (2Mo 7,17; 2Mo 8,22; 2Mo 9,14; 5Mo 33,26; 2Sam 7,22; 1Chr 17,20; Ps 86,8; Jes 46,9; Jer 10,6; Jer 10,7)11The frogs shall go away from you and your houses and your servants and your people. They shall be left only in the Nile.”12So Moses and Aaron went out from Pharaoh, and Moses cried to the LORD about the frogs, as he had agreed with Pharaoh.[4]13And the LORD did according to the word of Moses. The frogs died out in the houses, the courtyards, and the fields.14And they gathered them together in heaps, and the land stank.15But when Pharaoh saw that there was a respite, he hardened his heart and would not listen to them, as the LORD had said. The Third Plague: Gnats
16Then the LORD said to Moses, “Say to Aaron, ‘Stretch out your staff and strike the dust of the earth, so that it may become gnats in all the land of Egypt.’” (2Mo 7,19)17And they did so. Aaron stretched out his hand with his staff and struck the dust of the earth, and there were gnats on man and beast. All the dust of the earth became gnats in all the land of Egypt. (Ps 105,31)18The magicians tried by their secret arts to produce gnats, but they could not. So there were gnats on man and beast. (2Mo 7,11)19Then the magicians said to Pharaoh, “This is the finger of God.” But Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, and he would not listen to them, as the LORD had said. (2Mo 31,18; Ps 8,3; Lk 11,20)
The Fourth Plague: Flies
20Then the LORD said to Moses, “Rise up early in the morning and present yourself to Pharaoh, as he goes out to the water, and say to him, ‘Thus says the LORD, “Let my people go, that they may serve me. (2Mo 7,15; 2Mo 8,1; 2Mo 9,13)21Or else, if you will not let my people go, behold, I will send swarms of flies on you and your servants and your people, and into your houses. And the houses of the Egyptians shall be filled with swarms of flies, and also the ground on which they stand.22But on that day I will set apart the land of Goshen, where my people dwell, so that no swarms of flies shall be there, that you may know that I am the LORD in the midst of the earth.[5] (2Mo 7,17; 2Mo 8,10; 2Mo 9,4; 2Mo 11,7; Mal 3,18)23Thus I will put a division[6] between my people and your people. Tomorrow this sign shall happen.”’”24And the LORD did so. There came great swarms of flies into the house of Pharaoh and into his servants’ houses. Throughout all the land of Egypt the land was ruined by the swarms of flies. (Ps 78,45; Ps 105,31; Jes 7,18)25Then Pharaoh called Moses and Aaron and said, “Go, sacrifice to your God within the land.”26But Moses said, “It would not be right to do so, for the offerings we shall sacrifice to the LORD our God are an abomination to the Egyptians. If we sacrifice offerings abominable to the Egyptians before their eyes, will they not stone us? (1Mo 43,32; 1Mo 46,34)27We must go three days’ journey into the wilderness and sacrifice to the LORD our God as he tells us.” (2Mo 3,12; 2Mo 3,18)28So Pharaoh said, “I will let you go to sacrifice to the LORD your God in the wilderness; only you must not go very far away. Plead for me.” (2Mo 8,1)29Then Moses said, “Behold, I am going out from you and I will plead with the LORD that the swarms of flies may depart from Pharaoh, from his servants, and from his people, tomorrow. Only let not Pharaoh cheat again by not letting the people go to sacrifice to the LORD.” (2Mo 8,15; Jer 42,20; Jer 42,21)30So Moses went out from Pharaoh and prayed to the LORD.31And the LORD did as Moses asked, and removed the swarms of flies from Pharaoh, from his servants, and from his people; not one remained.32But Pharaoh hardened his heart this time also, and did not let the people go. Le rane
1Poi il Signore disse a Mosè: «Va’ dal faraone e digli: “Così dice il Signore: ‘Lascia andare il mio popolo perché mi serva.2Se rifiuti di lasciarlo andare, ecco, io colpirò tutta l’estensione del tuo paese col flagello delle rane.3Il Fiume brulicherà di rane, che saliranno ed entreranno nella tua casa, nella camera dove dormi, sul tuo letto, nelle case dei tuoi servitori, in mezzo al tuo popolo, nei tuoi forni e nelle tue madie.4Le rane saliranno contro di te, contro il tuo popolo e contro tutti i tuoi servitori’”».5Il Signore disse a Mosè: «Di’ ad Aaronne: “Stendi la tua mano con il bastone sui fiumi, sui canali, sugli stagni e fa’ salire le rane sul paese d’Egitto”».6Allora Aaronne stese la sua mano sulle acque d’Egitto e le rane salirono e coprirono il paese d’Egitto.7Ma i maghi fecero lo stesso con le loro arti occulte e fecero salire le rane sul paese d’Egitto.8Allora il faraone chiamò Mosè e Aaronne e disse loro: «Pregate il Signore perché allontani le rane da me e dal mio popolo, e io lascerò andare il popolo, perché offra sacrifici al Signore».9Mosè disse al faraone: «Fammi l’onore di dirmi per quando io devo chiedere, nelle mie suppliche per te, per i tuoi servitori e per il tuo popolo, che vengano sterminate le rane intorno a te e nelle tue case, in modo che ne rimangano soltanto nel Fiume».10Egli rispose: «Per domani». E Mosè disse: «Sarà fatto come tu dici, affinché tu sappia che non c’è nessuno pari al Signore, che è il nostro Dio.11Le rane si allontaneranno da te, dalle tue case, dai tuoi servitori e dal tuo popolo; non ne rimarranno che nel Fiume».12Mosè e Aaronne si allontanarono dal faraone; Mosè implorò il Signore circa le rane che aveva inviate contro il faraone.13Il Signore fece quello che Mosè aveva domandato e le rane morirono nelle case, nei cortili e nei campi.14Le radunarono a mucchi e il paese ne fu inquinato.15Ma quando il faraone vide che c’era un po’ di respiro si ostinò in cuor suo e non diede ascolto a Mosè e ad Aaronne, come il Signore aveva detto.
Le zanzare
16Quindi il Signore disse a Mosè: «Di’ ad Aaronne: “Stendi il tuo bastone, percuoti la polvere della terra ed essa diventerà zanzare per tutto il paese d’Egitto”».17Essi fecero così. Aaronne stese il braccio con il suo bastone, percosse la polvere della terra e ne vennero delle zanzare sugli uomini e sugli animali. Tutta la polvere della terra diventò zanzare per tutto il paese d’Egitto.18I maghi cercarono di fare la stessa cosa con le loro arti occulte per produrre le zanzare, ma non poterono. Le zanzare infierivano sugli uomini e sugli animali.19Allora i maghi dissero al faraone: «Questo è il dito di Dio». Ma il cuore del faraone si indurì e non diede ascolto a Mosè e ad Aaronne, come il Signore aveva detto.
Le mosche velenose
20Poi il Signore disse a Mosè: «Àlzati di buon mattino e presèntati al faraone. Egli uscirà per andare verso l’acqua. Tu gli dirai: “Così dice il Signore: ‘Lascia andare il mio popolo, perché mi serva.21Perché se non lasci andare il mio popolo, io manderò su di te, sui tuoi servitori, sul tuo popolo e nelle tue case, le mosche velenose[1]. Le case degli Egiziani saranno piene di mosche velenose e il suolo su cui stanno ne sarà coperto.22Ma in quel giorno io risparmierò la terra di Goscen, dove abita il mio popolo; lì non ci saranno mosche, affinché tu sappia che io, il Signore, sono in mezzo al paese.23Io farò distinzione tra il mio popolo e il tuo popolo. Domani avverrà questo miracolo’”».24Il Signore fece così: vennero grandi sciami di mosche velenose in casa del faraone, nelle case dei suoi servitori e in tutto il paese d’Egitto. La terra fu devastata dalle mosche velenose.25Il faraone chiamò Mosè e Aaronne e disse: «Andate, offrite sacrifici al vostro Dio nel paese».26Ma Mosè rispose: «Non si può far così; perché offriremmo al Signore, al nostro Dio, dei sacrifici che sono un abominio per gli Egiziani. Ecco, se offrissimo sotto i loro occhi dei sacrifici che sono un abominio per gli Egiziani, essi ci lapiderebbero!27Andremo per tre giornate di cammino nel deserto e offriremo sacrifici al Signore nostro Dio, come egli ci ordinerà».28Allora il faraone disse: «Io vi lascerò andare, perché offriate sacrifici al Signore vostro Dio, nel deserto; soltanto, non andate troppo lontano; pregate per me».29Mosè disse: «Ecco, io esco dalla tua presenza, pregherò il Signore e domani le mosche si allontaneranno dal faraone, dai suoi servitori e dal suo popolo. Però il faraone non si faccia più beffe di noi, impedendo al popolo di andare a offrire sacrifici al Signore».30Mosè uscì dalla presenza del faraone e pregò il Signore.31Il Signore fece quello che Mosè domandava e allontanò le mosche velenose dal faraone, dai suoi servitori e dal suo popolo; non ne restò neppure una.32Ma anche questa volta il faraone si ostinò in cuor suo e non lasciò andare il popolo.
