von Katholisches Bibelwerk1Der HERR sprach zu Mose: Geh, zieh hinauf von hier, du und das Volk, das du aus dem Land Ägypten heraufgeführt hast, in das Land, von dem ich Abraham, Isaak und Jakob geschworen habe: Deinen Nachkommen werde ich es geben.2Ich sende einen Engel, der dir vorangeht, und ich vertreibe die Kanaaniter, Amoriter, Hetiter, Perisiter, Hiwiter und Jebusiter.3In ein Land, in dem Milch und Honig fließen, wirst du kommen. Ich selbst ziehe nicht in deiner Mitte hinauf, damit ich dich unterwegs nicht vertilge, denn du bist ein hartnäckiges Volk.4Als das Volk diese Drohung hörte, trauerten sie und keiner legte seinen Schmuck an.5Da sprach der HERR zu Mose: Sag zu den Israeliten: Ihr seid ein hartnäckiges Volk. Wenn ich auch nur einen einzigen Augenblick mit dir zöge, müsste ich dir ein Ende machen. Jetzt aber leg deinen Schmuck ab! Dann will ich sehen, was ich mit dir tun kann.6Da legten die Israeliten ihren Schmuck ab, vom Berg Horeb an.7Mose nahm jeweils das Zelt und schlug es für sich außerhalb des Lagers auf, in einiger Entfernung vom Lager. Er nannte es Offenbarungszelt. Wenn einer den HERRN aufsuchen wollte, ging er zum Offenbarungszelt vor das Lager hinaus.8Wenn Mose zum Zelt hinausging, erhob sich das ganze Volk. Jeder trat vor sein Zelt und sie schauten Mose nach, bis er in das Zelt eintrat.9Sobald Mose das Zelt betrat, ließ sich die Wolkensäule herab und blieb am Zelteingang stehen. Dann redete der HERR mit Mose.10Wenn das ganze Volk die Wolkensäule am Zelteingang stehen sah, erhoben sich alle und warfen sich vor ihren Zelten zu Boden, jeder am Eingang seines Zeltes.11Der HERR und Mose redeten miteinander von Angesicht zu Angesicht, wie einer mit seinem Freund spricht. Mose ging ins Lager zurück, während sein Diener Josua, der Sohn Nuns, ein junger Mann, nicht vom Zelt wich.12Mose sagte zum HERRN: Siehe, du hast zwar zu mir gesagt: Führ dieses Volk hinauf! Du hast mich aber nicht wissen lassen, wen du mit mir sendest. Du hast doch gesagt: Ich habe dich mit Namen erkannt und du hast Gnade in meinen Augen gefunden.13Wenn ich wirklich Gnade in deinen Augen gefunden habe, so lass mich doch deine Wege erkennen, dass ich dich kenne und Gnade in deinen Augen finde, und siehe, diese Nation ist dein Volk!14Da sagte er: Mein Angesicht wird mitgehen, bis ich dir Ruhe verschafft habe.15Da entgegnete er ihm: Wenn dein Angesicht nicht mitginge, dann führe uns nicht von hier hinauf!16Woran soll man erkennen, dass ich Gnade in deinen Augen gefunden habe, ich und dein Volk? Doch wohl daran, dass du mit uns ziehst. Und dann werden wir, ich und dein Volk, vor allen Völkern auf der Erde ausgezeichnet werden.17Der HERR erwiderte Mose: Auch das, was du jetzt verlangt hast, will ich tun; denn du hast Gnade in meinen Augen gefunden und ich kenne dich mit Namen.18Dann sagte er: Lass mich doch deine Herrlichkeit schauen!19Da sagte er: Ich will meine ganze Güte vor dir vorüberziehen lassen und den Namen des HERRN vor dir ausrufen. Ich bin gnädig, wem ich gnädig bin, und ich bin barmherzig, wem ich barmherzig bin.20Weiter sprach er: Du kannst mein Angesicht nicht schauen; denn kein Mensch kann mich schauen und am Leben bleiben.21Dann sprach der HERR: Siehe, da ist ein Ort bei mir, stell dich da auf den Felsen!22Wenn meine Herrlichkeit vorüberzieht, stelle ich dich in den Felsspalt und halte meine Hand über dich, bis ich vorüber bin.23Dann ziehe ich meine Hand zurück und du wirst meinen Rücken sehen. Mein Angesicht kann niemand schauen.
1The LORD said to Moses, “Depart; go up from here, you and the people whom you have brought up out of the land of Egypt, to the land of which I swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying, ‘To your offspring I will give it.’ (1Mo 12,7; 2Mo 32,7; 2Mo 32,13)2I will send an angel before you, and I will drive out the Canaanites, the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites. (2Mo 13,5; 2Mo 14,19)3Go up to a land flowing with milk and honey; but I will not go up among you, lest I consume you on the way, for you are a stiff-necked people.” (2Mo 3,8; 2Mo 32,9; 2Mo 32,10; 2Mo 33,15; 4Mo 16,21; 4Mo 16,45)4When the people heard this disastrous word, they mourned, and no one put on his ornaments. (4Mo 14,39; Hes 24,17; Hes 24,23; Hes 26,16)5For the LORD had said to Moses, “Say to the people of Israel, ‘You are a stiff-necked people; if for a single moment I should go up among you, I would consume you. So now take off your ornaments, that I may know what to do with you.’” (2Mo 32,12; 2Mo 33,3; 2Mo 33,4)6Therefore the people of Israel stripped themselves of their ornaments, from Mount Horeb onward.
The Tent of Meeting
7Now Moses used to take the tent and pitch it outside the camp, far off from the camp, and he called it the tent of meeting. And everyone who sought the LORD would go out to the tent of meeting, which was outside the camp. (2Mo 29,42; 2Mo 29,43; 5Mo 4,29; 2Sam 21,1; 1Chr 16,10; 1Chr 16,11; Ps 40,16)8Whenever Moses went out to the tent, all the people would rise up, and each would stand at his tent door, and watch Moses until he had gone into the tent. (4Mo 16,27)9When Moses entered the tent, the pillar of cloud would descend and stand at the entrance of the tent, and the LORD[1] would speak with Moses. (2Mo 13,21)10And when all the people saw the pillar of cloud standing at the entrance of the tent, all the people would rise up and worship, each at his tent door.11Thus the LORD used to speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. When Moses turned again into the camp, his assistant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, would not depart from the tent. (1Mo 32,30; 2Mo 17,9; 2Mo 17,10; 2Mo 24,13; 2Mo 32,17; 4Mo 12,8; 5Mo 34,10)
Moses’ Intercession
12Moses said to the LORD, “See, you say to me, ‘Bring up this people,’ but you have not let me know whom you will send with me. Yet you have said, ‘I know you by name, and you have also found favor in my sight.’ (2Mo 32,34; 2Mo 33,17)13Now therefore, if I have found favor in your sight, please show me now your ways, that I may know you in order to find favor in your sight. Consider too that this nation is your people.” (5Mo 9,29; Ps 25,4; Ps 103,7; Joe 2,17)14And he said, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” (5Mo 3,20; Jos 1,5; Jos 21,44; Jos 22,4; Jos 23,1; Ps 95,11; Jes 63,9)15And he said to him, “If your presence will not go with me, do not bring us up from here. (2Mo 33,1)16For how shall it be known that I have found favor in your sight, I and your people? Is it not in your going with us, so that we are distinct, I and your people, from every other people on the face of the earth?” (2Mo 19,5; 2Mo 19,6; 4Mo 14,14; 1Kön 8,53)17And the LORD said to Moses, “This very thing that you have spoken I will do, for you have found favor in my sight, and I know you by name.” (2Mo 33,12)18Moses said, “Please show me your glory.” (1Tim 6,16)19And he said, “I will make all my goodness pass before you and will proclaim before you my name ‘The LORD.’ And I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy. (Ps 31,19; Jer 31,14; Jer 34,5; Röm 9,15)20But,” he said, “you cannot see my face, for man shall not see me and live.” (1Mo 32,30; 5Mo 5,24; Ri 6,22; Ri 6,23; Ri 13,22; Jes 6,5; Offb 1,17)21And the LORD said, “Behold, there is a place by me where you shall stand on the rock,22and while my glory passes by I will put you in a cleft of the rock, and I will cover you with my hand until I have passed by. 1Il Signore disse a Mosè: «Va’, sali di qui, tu con il popolo che hai fatto uscire dal paese d’Egitto, verso il paese che promisi con giuramento ad Abraamo, a Isacco e a Giacobbe, dicendo: “Io lo darò alla tua discendenza”.2Io manderò un angelo davanti a te e scaccerò i Cananei, gli Amorei, gli Ittiti, i Ferezei, gli Ivvei e i Gebusei.3Egli vi condurrà in un paese dove scorrono il latte e il miele; ma io non salirò in mezzo a te, perché sei un popolo dal collo duro, e potrei anche sterminarti lungo il cammino».4Quando il popolo udì queste dure parole, fece cordoglio e nessuno mise i propri ornamenti.5Infatti il Signore aveva detto a Mosè: «Di’ ai figli d’Israele: “Voi siete un popolo dal collo duro; se io salissi per un momento solo in mezzo a te, ti consumerei! Ora, dunque, togliti i tuoi ornamenti e vedrò come io ti debba trattare”».6E i figli d’Israele si spogliarono dei loro ornamenti, dalla partenza dal monte Oreb in poi.
La tenda di convegno fuori dell’accampamento
7Mosè prese la tenda, e la piantò per sé fuori dell’accampamento, a una certa distanza dall’accampamento, e la chiamò tenda di convegno; e chiunque cercava il Signore, usciva verso la tenda di convegno, che era fuori dell’accampamento.8Quando Mosè usciva per recarsi alla tenda, tutto il popolo si alzava e ognuno se ne stava in piedi all’ingresso della propria tenda e seguiva con lo sguardo Mosè, finché egli era entrato nella tenda.9Appena Mosè entrava nella tenda, la colonna di nuvola scendeva, si fermava all’ingresso della tenda, e il Signore parlava con Mosè.10Tutto il popolo vedeva la colonna di nuvola ferma all’ingresso della tenda; tutto il popolo si alzava e ciascuno adorava all’ingresso della propria tenda.11Or il Signore parlava con Mosè faccia a faccia, come un uomo parla col proprio amico; poi Mosè tornava all’accampamento; ma Giosuè, figlio di Nun, suo giovane aiutante, non si allontanava dalla tenda.
Mosè vede la gloria del Signore
12Mosè disse al Signore: «Vedi, tu mi dici: “Fa’ salire questo popolo!” Però non mi fai conoscere chi manderai con me. Eppure hai detto: “Io ti conosco personalmente e anche hai trovato grazia agli occhi miei”.13Or dunque, se ho trovato grazia agli occhi tuoi, ti prego, fammi conoscere le tue vie, affinché io ti conosca e possa trovare grazia agli occhi tuoi. Considera che questa nazione è popolo tuo».14Il Signore rispose: «La mia presenza andrà con te e io ti darò riposo».15Mosè gli disse: «Se la tua presenza non viene con me, non farci partire di qui.16Poiché, come si farà ora a conoscere che io e il tuo popolo abbiamo trovato grazia agli occhi tuoi, se tu non vieni con noi? Questo fatto distinguerà me e il tuo popolo da tutti i popoli che sono sulla faccia della terra».17Il Signore disse a Mosè: «Farò anche questo che tu chiedi, perché tu hai trovato grazia agli occhi miei, e ti conosco personalmente».18Mosè disse: «Ti prego, fammi vedere la tua gloria!»19Il Signore gli rispose: «Io farò passare davanti a te tutta la mia bontà, proclamerò il nome del Signore davanti a te; farò grazia a chi vorrò fare grazia e avrò pietà di chi vorrò avere pietà».20Disse ancora: «Tu non puoi vedere il mio volto, perché l’uomo non può vedermi e vivere».21E il Signore disse: «Ecco qui un luogo vicino a me; tu starai su quel masso;22mentre passerà la mia gloria, io ti metterò in una buca del masso, e ti coprirò con la mia mano finché io sia passato;23poi ritirerò la mano e mi vedrai da dietro; ma il mio volto non si può vedere».
