She was advanced in years, having lived with her husband seven years from when she was a virgin, (Ex 15:20)37and then as a widow until she was eighty-four.
39And when they had performed everything according to the Law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own town of Nazareth. (Lu 2:4; Lu 2:23)40And the child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom. And the favor of God was upon him. (Lu 1:80)
The Boy Jesus in the Temple
41Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the Feast of the Passover. (Ex 23:15; De 16:1; 1Sa 1:3; Lu 2:27; Joh 2:13)42And when he was twelve years old, they went up according to custom. (Joh 11:55)43And when the feast was ended, as they were returning, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem. His parents did not know it, (Ex 12:15; Le 23:8; De 16:3; Lu 2:41)44but supposing him to be in the group they went a day’s journey, but then they began to search for him among their relatives and acquaintances,45and when they did not find him, they returned to Jerusalem, searching for him.46After three days they found him in the temple, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. (Mt 26:55; Lu 5:17)47And all who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers.48And when his parents
