1Now Peter and John were going up to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour.[1] (1Ki 18:29; Ps 55:17; Mt 27:46; Lu 18:10; Ac 10:3; Ac 10:30)2And a man lame from birth was being carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple that is called the Beautiful Gate to ask alms of those entering the temple. (Lu 16:20; Joh 9:8; Ac 14:8)3Seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked to receive alms.4And Peter directed his gaze at him, as did John, and said, “Look at us.”5And he fixed his attention on them, expecting to receive something from them.6But Peter said, “I have no silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!” (Ac 9:34; 2Co 6:10)7And he took him by the right hand and raised him up, and immediately his feet and ankles were made strong.8And leaping up, he stood and began to walk, and entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God. (Isa 35:6; Ac 14:10)9And all the people saw him walking and praising God, (Ac 4:16; Ac 4:21)10and recognized him as the one who sat at the Beautiful Gate of the temple, asking for alms. And they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.
Peter Speaks in Solomon’s Portico
11While he clung to Peter and John, all the people, utterly astounded, ran together to them in the portico called Solomon’s. (Joh 10:23; Ac 4:14; Ac 5:12)12And when Peter saw it he addressed the people: “Men of Israel, why do you wonder at this, or why do you stare at us, as though by our own power or piety we have made him walk?13The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified his servant[2] Jesus, whom you delivered over and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to release him. (Isa 52:13; Isa 55:5; Mt 20:19; Mt 22:32; Lu 23:14; Lu 23:16; Joh 8:54; Joh 19:7; Joh 19:12; Joh 19:15; Ac 5:30; Ac 7:32; Ac 13:28; Ac 22:14)14But you denied the Holy and Righteous One, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, (Mr 1:24; Lu 23:18; Lu 23:25; Ac 4:27; Ac 4:30; Ac 7:52; Ac 22:14; Jas 5:6; 1Pe 3:18; 1Jo 2:1; 1Jo 3:7)15and you killed the Author of life, whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses. (Ac 2:24; Ac 5:31)16And his name—by faith in his name—has made this man strong whom you see and know, and the faith that is through Jesus[3] has given the man this perfect health in the presence of you all. (Joh 1:12; Ac 3:6; 1Pe 1:21)17“And now, brothers, I know that you acted in ignorance, as did also your rulers. 1Bir gün Petrus'la Yuhanna, saat üçte, dua vaktinde tapınağa çıkıyorlardı.2O sırada, doğuştan kötürüm olan bir adam, tapınağın Güzel Kapı diye adlandırılan kapısına getiriliyordu. Tapınağa girenlerden para dilenmesi için onu her gün getirip oraya bırakırlardı.3Tapınağa girmek üzere olan Petrus'la Yuhanna'yı gören adam, kendilerinden sadaka istedi.4Petrus'la Yuhanna ona dikkatle baktılar. 11Adam, Petrus'la Yuhanna'ya tutunuyordu. Bütün halk hayret içinde Süleyman'ın Eyvanı denilen yerde onlara doğru koşuştu.12Bunu gören Petrus halka şöyle seslendi: ‹‹Ey İsrailliler, buna neden şaştınız? Neden gözlerinizi dikmiş bize bakıyorsunuz? Kendi gücümüz ya da dindarlığımızla bu adamın yürümesini sağlamışız gibi...!13İbrahim'in, İshak'ın ve Yakup'un Tanrısı, atalarımızın Tanrısı, Kulu İsa'yı yüceltti. Siz O'nu ele verdiniz. Pilatus O'nu serbest bırakmaya karar verdiği halde, siz O'nu Pilatus'un önünde reddettiniz.14Kutsal ve adil Olan'ı reddedip bir katilin salıverilmesini istediniz.15Siz Yaşam Önderi'ni öldürdünüz, ama Tanrı O'nu ölümden diriltti. Biz bunun tanıklarıyız.16Gördüğünüz ve tanıdığınız bu adam, İsa'nın adı sayesinde, O'nun adına olan imanla sapasağlam oldu. Nitekim Tanrı İbrahim'e şöyle demişti: ‹Senin soyunun aracılığıyla yeryüzündeki bütün halklar kutsanacak.›26Tanrı, sizleri kötü yollarınızdan döndürüp kutsamak için Kulu'nu ortaya çıkarıp önce size gönderdi.››
