1Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever! (Job 38:26; Ps 114:8; Isa 35:6; Isa 41:18; Isa 43:19)36And there he lets the hungry dwell, and they establish a city to live in; (Ps 107:4; Ps 107:7)37they sow fields and plant vineyards and get a fruitful yield.38By his blessing they multiply greatly, and he does not let their livestock diminish. (Ge 12:2; Ge 17:20; Ex 1:7)39When they are diminished and brought low through oppression, evil, and sorrow,40he pours contempt on princes and makes them wander in trackless wastes; (De 32:10; Job 12:21; Job 12:24)41but he raises up the needy out of affliction and makes their families like flocks.
