1Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment. The New Jerusalem
9Then came one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues and spoke to me, saying, “Come, I will show you the Bride, the wife of the Lamb.” (Re 15:1; Re 17:1; Re 21:2)10And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great, high mountain, and showed me the holy city Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God, (Ps 87:1; Eze 40:2; Eze 43:5; Re 17:3)11having the glory of God, its radiance like a most rare jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal. (Ps 84:11; Eze 43:2; Eze 43:4; Mt 5:14; Php 2:15; Re 4:3; Re 4:6; Re 21:23; Re 22:5)12It had a great, high wall, with twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and on the gates the names of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel were inscribed— (Eze 48:31)13on the east three gates, on the north three gates, on the south three gates, and on the west three gates.14And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. (Mt 16:18; 1Co 3:11; Eph 2:20; Heb 11:10)15And the one who spoke with me had a measuring rod of gold to measure the city and its gates and walls. (Re 11:1)16The city lies foursquare, its length the same as its width. And he measured the city with his rod, 12,000 stadia.[4] Its length and width and height are equal.17He also measured its wall, 144 cubits[5] by human measurement, which is also an angel’s measurement. (De 3:11; Re 13:18; Re 21:9)18The wall was built of jasper, while the city was pure gold, like clear glass. (Re 21:11)19The foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with every kind of jewel. The first was jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald, (Isa 54:11)20the fifth onyx, the sixth carnelian, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, the twelfth amethyst.21And the twelve gates were twelve pearls, each of the gates made of a single pearl, and the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass. (Re 22:2)22And I saw no temple in the city, for its temple is the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb. (Joh 4:23)23And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb. (Isa 60:19; Re 21:11; Re 21:25; Re 22:5)24By its light will the nations walk, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it, (Isa 60:3; Isa 60:5; Isa 60:16; Re 21:26; Re 22:2)25and its gates will never be shut by day—and there will be no night there. (Isa 60:11; Re 21:23)26They will bring into it the glory and the honor of the nations.27But nothing unclean will ever enter it, nor anyone who does what is detestable or false, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s book of life. (Isa 35:8; Isa 52:1; Eze 44:9; Joe 3:17; Zec 14:21; Re 3:5; Re 22:14)
1سپس زمين و آسمان تازهای را ديدم، چون آن زمين و آسمان اول ناپديد شده بود. از دريا هم ديگر خبری نبود.2و من، يوحنا، شهر مقدسِ اورشليم را ديدم كه از آسمان از جانب خدا پايين میآمد. چه منظرهٔ باشكوهی بود! شهر اورشليم به زيبايی يک عروس بود كه خود را برای ملاقات داماد آماده كرده باشد!3از تخت، صدايی بلند شنيدم كه میگفت: «خوب نگاه كن! خانهٔ خدا از اين پس در ميان انسانها خواهد بود. از اين پس خدا با ايشان زندگی خواهد كرد و ايشان خلقهای خدا خواهند شد. بله، خود خدا با ايشان خواهد بود.4خدا تمام اشكها را از چشمان آنها پاک خواهد ساخت. ديگر نه مرگی خواهد بود و نه غمی، نه نالهای و نه دردی، زيرا تمام اينها متعلق به دنيای پيشين بود كه از بين رفت.»5آنگاه او كه بر تخت نشسته بود، گفت: «ببين! الان همه چيز را نو میسازم!» و به من گفت: «اين را بنويس چون آنچه میگويم، راست و درست است.6ديگر تمام شد! من الف و يا، و اول و آخر هستم. من به هر كه تشنه باشد از چشمهٔ آب حيات به رايگان خواهم داد تا بنوشد.7هر كه پيروز شود تمام اين نعمتها را به ارث خواهد برد و من خدای او خواهم بود و او فرزند من.8ولی ترسوها كه از پيروی من رو برمیگردانند و كسانی كه به من ايمان ندارند، فاسدان و قاتلان و زناكاران، جادوگران و دروغگويان، و كسانی كه به جای خدا، بت میپرستند، جای همه در درياچهای است كه با آتش و گوگرد میسوزد. اين همان مرگ دوم است.»9آنگاه يكی از آن هفت فرشته كه هفت جام بلای آخر را دارند، نزد من آمد و گفت: «همراه من بيا تا عروس را به تو نشان دهم. او همسر بره است.»10سپس در يک رؤيا، مرا به قله كوه بلندی برد. از آنجا، شهر مقدس اورشليم را ديدم كه از جانب خدا از آسمان پايين میآمد.11شهر غرق در جلال و شكوه خدا بود، و مثل يک تكه جواهر قيمتی كه بلورهای شفافش برق میزند، میدرخشيد.12ديوارهای شهر، پهن و بلند بود. شهر دوازده دروازه و دوازده فرشتهٔ دربان داشت. اسامی دوازده قبيلهٔ بنیاسرائيل روی دروازهها نوشته شده بود.13در هر طرف، يعنی در شمال، جنوب، شرق و غرب شهر، سه دروازه وجود داشت.14ديوارهای شهر دوازده پايه داشت كه بر آنها اسامی رسولان«برّه» نوشته شده بود.15در دست فرشته يک چوب طلا بود كه با آن در نظر داشت شهر و دروازهها و ديوارهايش را اندازه بگيرد.16وقتی شهر را اندازه گرفت، معلوم شد به شكل مربع است، يعنی طول و عرضش با هم مساوی است. در واقع، شهر به شكل مكعب بود، زيرا بلندیاش نيز به اندازهٔ طول و عرضش بود، يعنی هر ضلعش دوازده هزار تير پرتاب بود.17سپس بلندی ديوار شهر را اندازه گرفت و معلوم شد در همه جا صد و چهل و چهار ذراع است. فرشته با استفاده از واحدهای مشخص، اين اندازهها را به من گفت.18-19خود شهر از طلای خالص مانند شيشه شفاف ساخته شده بود و ديوار آن از يَشم بود كه بر روی دوازده لايه از سنگهای زيربنای جواهرنشان ساخته شده بود: لايهٔ اول از يشم، دومی از سنگ لاجورد، سومی از عقيق سفيد، چهارمی از زمرد،20پنجمی از عقيق سرخ، ششمی از عقيق، هفتمی از زبرجد، هشتمی از ياقوت كبود، نهمی از ياقوت زرد، دهمی از عقيق سبز، يازدهمی از فيروزه و دوازدهمی از ياقوت بود.21جنس دوازده دروازهٔ شهر از مرواريد بود، هر دروازهٔ از يک قطعه مرواريد. خيابان اصلی شهر از طلای ناب بود كه مثل شيشه میدرخشيد.22در شهر هيچ عبادتگاهی ديده نمیشد، زيرا خدای توانا و«برّه» را همه جا بدون هيچ واسطهای پرستش میكردند.23اين شهر احتياجی به نور خورشيد و ماه نداشت، چون شكوه و جلال خدا و«بره» شهر را روشن میساخت.24نورش قومهای زمين را نيز نورانی میكرد، و پادشاهان دنيا میآمدند و جلال خود را نثار آن میكردند.25دروازههای شهر هرگز بسته نمیشود، چون در آنجا هميشه روز است و شبی وجود ندارد!26عزّت و جلال و افتخار تمام قومها به آن وارد میشود.27هيچ بدی يا شخص نادرست و فاسد اجازه ورود به آنجا را ندارد. اين شهر فقط جای كسانی است كه نامشان در كتاب حيات«برّه» نوشته شده باشد.
