1After this the Lord appointed seventy-two[1] others and sent them on ahead of him, two by two, into every town and place where he himself was about to go. (Ex 24:1; Ex 24:9; Nu 11:16; Lu 9:2; Lu 9:52)2And he said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest. (Mt 9:37; Joh 4:35; 2Th 3:1)3Go your way; behold, I am sending you out as lambs in the midst of wolves. (Mt 10:16; Joh 17:18)4Carry no moneybag, no knapsack, no sandals, and greet no one on the road. (2Ki 4:29; Mt 10:9; Mr 6:8; Lu 9:1; Lu 22:35)5Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace be to this house!’ (1Sa 25:6)6And if a son of peace is there, your peace will rest upon him. But if not, it will return to you. (Ps 35:13)7And remain in the same house, eating and drinking what they provide, for the laborer deserves his wages. Do not go from house to house. (1Ti 5:18)8Whenever you enter a town and they receive you, eat what is set before you.9Heal the sick in it and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’ (Mt 3:2; Lu 10:11)10But whenever you enter a town and they do not receive you, go into its streets and say,11‘Even the dust of your town that clings to our feet we wipe off against you. Nevertheless know this, that the kingdom of God has come near.’ (Ne 5:13; Lu 10:9; Ac 13:51; Ac 18:6)12I tell you, it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom than for that town. Woe to Unrepentant Cities
13“Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. (Eze 28:2; Am 1:9; Mt 11:21)14But it will be more bearable in the judgment for Tyre and Sidon than for you. (Lu 10:13; Lu 12:47)15And you, Capernaum, will you be exalted to heaven? You shall be brought down to Hades. (Isa 14:13; Lu 16:23; Ac 2:27)16“The one who hears you hears me, and the one who rejects you rejects me, and the one who rejects me rejects him who sent me.” (Mt 10:40; Mt 25:45; Joh 5:23; Joh 12:48; 1Th 4:8)
21In that same hour he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will.[2] (Job 37:24; Ps 8:2; Isa 53:11; Mt 11:25; Mt 16:17; Mt 21:16; Mr 12:36; Lu 8:10; Lu 12:32; Ac 17:24; 1Co 1:19; 2Co 3:14)22All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, or who the Father is except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.” (Mt 28:18; Joh 1:18; Joh 6:46; Joh 7:29; Joh 8:19; Joh 10:15; Joh 17:25; Joh 17:26)23Then turning to the disciples he said privately, “Blessed are the eyes that see what you see! The Parable of the Good Samaritan
25And behold, a lawyer stood up to put him to the test, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” (Mt 19:16; Mt 19:29; Mt 22:34; Mt 25:34; Mt 25:46; Mr 10:17; Lu 7:30; Lu 18:18; Joh 8:6)26He said to him, “What is written in the Law? How do you read it?”27And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.” (Le 19:18; De 6:5; Mt 19:19; Mt 22:37; Mr 12:30)28And he said to him, “You have answered correctly; do this, and you will live.” (Le 18:5; Ne 9:29; Eze 20:11; Ro 10:5; Ga 3:12)29But he, desiring to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” (Lu 16:15)30Jesus replied, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him and departed, leaving him half dead. (Lu 18:31; Lu 19:28)31Now by chance a priest was going down that road, and when he saw him he passed by on the other side. (Nu 8:19; Joh 1:19)32So likewise a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. (Lu 10:31)33But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was, and when he saw him, he had compassion. (Mt 10:5)34He went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he set him on his own animal and brought him to an inn and took care of him. (Isa 1:6)35And the next day he took out two denarii[3] and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, ‘Take care of him, and whatever more you spend, I will repay you when I come back.’ (Mt 18:28)36Which of these three, do you think, proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?”37He said, “The one who showed him mercy.” And Jesus said to him, “You go, and do likewise.”
Martha and Mary
38Now as they went on their way, Jesus[4] entered a village. And a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house. (Lu 19:6; Joh 11:1; Joh 11:19; Joh 12:2)39And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to his teaching. (Lu 8:35; Lu 10:38; Ac 22:3)40But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.”41But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, (Lu 12:22; 1Co 7:32)42but one thing is necessary.[5] Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.” (Ps 16:5)

Iată, Eu vă trimit ca pe niște miei în mijlocul lupilor.4Să nu luați cu voi nici săculeț cu bani, nici traistă, nici sandale și să nu faceți urări[2] nimănui pe drum.5În orice casă intrați, să spuneți mai întâi: „Pacea să fie peste această casă!“6Dacă se află acolo un fiu al păcii, pacea voastră se va odihni peste el, dar dacă nu, se va întoarce la voi.7Rămâneți în casa aceea și mâncați și beți ce vă vor da, căci vrednic este lucrătorul de plata lui! Să nu vă mutați dintr‑o casă într-alta.8În orice cetate în care intrați și vă primesc, să mâncați ce vi se va pune înainte.9Vindecați‑i pe cei bolnavi de acolo și spuneți‑le: „S‑a apropiat de voi Împărăția lui Dumnezeu!“10Dacă însă în cetatea în care intrați, oamenii nu vă primesc, să ieșiți pe străzile ei și să ziceți:11„Până și praful din cetatea voastră, care ni s‑a lipit de picioare, îl ștergem împotriva voastră! Totuși, să știți aceasta: s‑a apropiat Împărăția lui Dumnezeu!“12Vă spun că, în ziua aceea, va fi mai ușor pentru Sodoma decât pentru cetatea aceea!13Vai de tine, Horazine! Vai de tine, Betsaido! Căci dacă ar fi fost făcute în Tyr și Sidon minunile care au fost făcute în voi, demult s‑ar fi pocăit stând în sac și cenușă!14Dar la judecată va fi mai ușor pentru Tyr și Sidon decât pentru voi!15Iar tu, Capernaume, vei fi înălțat oare până la cer? Nu, ci vei coborî până în Locuința Morților[3]! (Isa 14:13; Isa 14:15)16Cel ce vă ascultă pe voi, Mă ascultă pe Mine și cel ce vă respinge pe voi, Mă respinge pe Mine, iar cel ce Mă respinge pe Mine Îl respinge pe Cel Ce M‑a trimis pe Mine.
Întoarcerea celor șaptezeci și doi de ucenici
17Cei șaptezeci și doi s‑au întors plini de bucurie și I‑au zis: – Doamne, chiar și demonii ne sunt supuși în Numele Tău! (Mt 11:25; Mt 13:16)18Însă El le‑a zis: – L‑am văzut pe Satan[4] căzând din cer ca un fulger.19Iată, v‑am dat autoritate să călcați peste șerpi, peste scorpioni și peste toată puterea dușmanului și nimic nu vă va răni!20Totuși, nu vă bucurați că duhurile vă sunt supuse, ci bucurați‑vă că numele voastre sunt scrise în ceruri!21În ceasul acela, Isus S‑a bucurat nespus în Duhul Sfânt și a zis: „Te laud[5], Tată, Domn al cerului și al pământului, pentru că ai ascuns aceste lucruri de cei înțelepți și pricepuți și le‑ai descoperit copilașilor. Da, Tată, pentru că așa a fost plăcut înaintea Ta!22Toate lucrurile Mi‑au fost încredințate Mie de către Tatăl Meu. Și nimeni nu știe cine este Fiul, în afară de Tatăl, sau cine este Tatăl, în afară de Fiul și de cel căruia dorește Fiul să i‑L descopere.“23Apoi S‑a întors spre ucenici și le‑a zis doar lor: – Fericiți sunt ochii care văd lucrurile pe care le vedeți voi!24Vă spun că mulți profeți și regi au dorit să vadă ceea ce vedeți voi, dar n‑au văzut, și au dorit să audă ceea ce auziți voi, dar n‑au auzit!
Pilda samariteanului milostiv
25Dar iată că un învățător al Legii s‑a ridicat să‑L pună la încercare pe Isus, zicând: – Învățătorule, ce să fac ca să moștenesc viață veșnică? (Mt 22:34; Mr 12:28)26Isus i‑a zis: – Ce este scris în Lege? Ce citești acolo?27El, răspunzând, a zis: – „Să‑L iubești pe Domnul, Dumnezeul tău, cu toată inima ta, cu tot sufletul tău, cu toată puterea ta și cu toată mintea ta[6], și pe semenul tău ca pe tine însuți.“[7] (Le 19:18; De 6:5; Mr 12:30)28Isus i‑a zis: – Ai răspuns corect. Fă așa și vei trăi!29Dar el, care voia să se îndreptățească, L‑a întrebat pe Isus: – Și cine este semenul meu?30Isus, răspunzând, a zis: – Un om cobora de la Ierusalim spre Ierihon[8] și a căzut în mâinile tâlharilor, care, după ce l‑au dezbrăcat și i‑au dat multe lovituri, au plecat, lăsându‑l pe jumătate mort.31Din întâmplare, pe acel drum cobora un preot. Dar când l‑a văzut, preotul a trecut înainte, ocolindu‑l.32Tot așa și un levit, când a ajuns în locul acela și l‑a văzut, a trecut înainte, ocolindu‑l.33Însă un samaritean[9], care călătorea și el pe acolo, când a ajuns în dreptul lui și l‑a văzut, i s‑a făcut milă de el. (Lu 9:52)34S‑a apropiat, i‑a bandajat rănile și a turnat peste ele ulei de măsline și vin. Apoi l‑a pus pe propriul lui animal de povară, l‑a dus la un han și a continuat să‑l îngrijească.35În ziua următoare, a scos doi denari[10], i‑a dat hangiului și a zis: „Ai grijă de el, iar când mă voi întoarce, îți voi plăti eu orice vei mai cheltui.“ (Lu 7:41)36Care dintre aceștia trei ți se pare că a fost semenul celui căzut în mâinile tâlharilor?37El a răspuns: – Cel ce și‑a făcut milă de el. Isus i‑a zis: – Du‑te și fă și tu la fel!
Acasă la Marta și Maria
38În timp ce‑și continuau călătoria, Isus a intrat într‑un sat oarecare. Acolo, o femeie pe nume Marta L‑a primit ca oaspete în casa ei.39Ea avea o soră, numită Maria. Aceasta s‑a așezat la picioarele Domnului și asculta cuvintele Lui.40Marta însă era copleșită de atât de multă slujire. Ea a venit și a zis: – Doamne, nu‑Ți pasă că sora mea m‑a lăsat să slujesc singură? Spune‑i deci să mă ajute!41Domnul însă, răspunzând, i‑a zis: – Marto, Marto, tu te îngrijorezi și te necăjești cu privire la multe lucruri,42însă de unul singur este nevoie![11] Căci Maria și‑a ales partea cea bună, care nu i se va lua!
