1The Lord said to Moses, “Yet one plague more I will bring upon Pharaoh and upon Egypt. Afterward he will let you go from here. When he lets you go, he will drive you away completely. (Ex 4:23; Ex 12:31; Ex 12:33; Ex 12:39)2Speak now in the hearing of the people, that they ask, every man of his neighbor and every woman of her neighbor, for silver and gold jewelry.” (Ex 3:22; Ex 12:35)3And the Lord gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover, the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh’s servants and in the sight of the people. (Ex 3:21; Ex 12:36)4So Moses said, “Thus says the Lord: ‘About midnight I will go out in the midst of Egypt, (Ex 12:29; Job 34:20; Am 4:10)5and every firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sits on his throne, even to the firstborn of the slave girl who is behind the handmill, and all the firstborn of the cattle. (Mt 24:41; Lu 17:35)6There shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there has never been, nor ever will be again. (Ex 12:30; Am 5:16)7But not a dog shall growl against any of the people of Israel, either man or beast, that you may know that the Lord makes a distinction between Egypt and Israel.’ (Ex 8:22; Ex 9:4)8And all these your servants shall come down to me and bow down to me, saying, ‘Get out, you and all the people who follow you.’ And after that I will go out.” And he went out from Pharaoh in hot anger. (Ex 12:33)9Then the Lord said to Moses, “Pharaoh will not listen to you, that my wonders may be multiplied in the land of Egypt.” (Ex 3:19; Ex 7:3; Ex 7:4; Ex 10:1)10Moses and Aaron did all these wonders before Pharaoh, and the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he did not let the people of Israel go out of his land. (Ex 4:21)
1DOMNUL îi zisese lui Moise: „Voi mai aduce încă o urgie peste Faraon și peste Egipt. După aceasta, el vă va lăsa să plecați de aici. Când vă va lăsa să plecați de aici, de fapt el vă va alunga de tot.2Spune poporului ca orice om să ceară vecinului său și orice femeie să ceară vecinei ei lucruri de argint și de aur.“3DOMNUL a făcut ca poporul să găsească bunăvoință înaintea[1] egiptenilor. Mai mult, Moise a devenit un om foarte însemnat în țara Egiptului, atât în ochii slujitorilor lui Faraon, cât și în ochii poporului.4Moise a zis: – Așa vorbește DOMNUL: „La miezul nopții voi ieși în mijlocul Egiptului.5Toți întâii născuți din țara Egiptului vor muri, de la întâiul născut al lui Faraon care stă pe tron, până la întâiul născut al roabei care învârte la râșniță și până la toți întâii născuți ai vitelor.6Apoi va fi un mare strigăt în toată țara Egiptului, așa cum n‑a mai fost și nu va mai fi.7Dar între fiii lui Israel nici măcar un câine nu va lătra, nici la animale, nici la oameni, ca să știți ce deosebire face DOMNUL între Egipt și Israel.“8Atunci toți acești slujitori ai tăi vor veni la mine și se vor pleca până la pământ înaintea mea, zicând: „Ieși, tu și tot poporul care te urmează!“ După aceea voi ieși. Și plin de mânie Moise a ieșit de la Faraon.9DOMNUL i‑a zis lui Moise: „Faraon nu vă va asculta, pentru ca minunile Mele să se înmulțească în țara Egiptului.“10Moise și Aaron au făcut toate aceste minuni înaintea lui Faraon, dar DOMNUL a împietrit[2] inima lui Faraon și acesta nu i‑a lăsat pe fiii lui Israel să plece din țara sa. (Ex 4:21)
