from Biblica1Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers,2but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night.3That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither – whatever they do prospers.4Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away.5Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.6For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.
Psalm 1
New International Reader’s Version
from Biblica1Blessed is the person who obeys the law of the LORD. They don’t follow the advice of evil people. They don’t make a habit of doing what sinners do. They don’t join those who make fun of the LORD and his law.2Instead, the law of the LORD gives them joy. They think about his law day and night.3That kind of person is like a tree that is planted near a stream of water. It always bears its fruit at the right time. Its leaves don’t dry up. Everything godly people do turns out well.4Sinful people are not like that at all. They are like straw that the wind blows away.5When the LORD judges them, their life will come to an end. Sinners won’t have any place among those who are godly.6The LORD watches over the lives of godly people. But the lives of sinful people will lead to their death.
Psalm 1
King James Version
1Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.2But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.3And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.4The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.5Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.6For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
gepflanzt an Bächen voll Wasser,
der zur rechten Zeit seine Frucht bringt
und dessen Blätter nicht welken.
Alles, was er tut,
(Ps 119:1; Pr 10:28)
