Ezekiel 10

English Standard Version

from Crossway
1 Then I looked, and behold, on the expanse that was over the heads of the cherubim there appeared above them something like a sapphire,[1] in appearance like a throne. (Eze 1:22; Eze 1:26)2 And he said to the man clothed in linen, “Go in among the whirling wheels underneath the cherubim. Fill your hands with burning coals from between the cherubim, and scatter them over the city.” And he went in before my eyes. (Eze 1:13; Eze 9:2; Eze 10:6; Eze 10:13; Eze 10:19; Re 8:5)3 Now the cherubim were standing on the south side of the house, when the man went in, and a cloud filled the inner court. (1Ki 8:10; Eze 8:16; Lu 1:11)4 And the glory of the Lord went up from the cherub to the threshold of the house, and the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was filled with the brightness of the glory of the Lord. (Eze 1:28; Eze 10:3; Eze 10:18; Eze 43:2)5 And the sound of the wings of the cherubim was heard as far as the outer court, like the voice of God Almighty when he speaks. (Eze 1:24)6 And when he commanded the man clothed in linen, “Take fire from between the whirling wheels, from between the cherubim,” he went in and stood beside a wheel. (Eze 9:2; Eze 10:2)7 And a cherub stretched out his hand from between the cherubim to the fire that was between the cherubim, and took some of it and put it into the hands of the man clothed in linen, who took it and went out.8 The cherubim appeared to have the form of a human hand under their wings. (Eze 1:8; Eze 8:3; Eze 10:21)9 And I looked, and behold, there were four wheels beside the cherubim, one beside each cherub, and the appearance of the wheels was like sparkling beryl. (Eze 1:4; Eze 1:15; Eze 1:16; Da 10:6)10 And as for their appearance, the four had the same likeness, as if a wheel were within a wheel.11 When they went, they went in any of their four directions[2] without turning as they went, but in whatever direction the front wheel[3] faced, the others followed without turning as they went. (Eze 1:9; Eze 1:17; Eze 10:22)12 And their whole body, their rims, and their spokes, their wings,[4] and the wheels were full of eyes all around—the wheels that the four of them had. (Eze 1:18)13 As for the wheels, they were called in my hearing “the whirling wheels.” (Eze 10:6)14 And every one had four faces: the first face was the face of the cherub, and the second face was a human face, and the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle. (Eze 1:5; Eze 1:6; Eze 1:10; Eze 41:19)15 And the cherubim mounted up. These were the living creatures that I saw by the Chebar canal. (Eze 1:1; Eze 1:5; Eze 10:17; Eze 10:19)16 And when the cherubim went, the wheels went beside them. And when the cherubim lifted up their wings to mount up from the earth, the wheels did not turn from beside them. (Eze 1:19)17 When they stood still, these stood still, and when they mounted up, these mounted up with them, for the spirit of the living creatures[5] was in them. (Eze 1:20)18 Then the glory of the Lord went out from the threshold of the house, and stood over the cherubim. (Eze 1:28; Eze 10:4; Eze 43:2)19 And the cherubim lifted up their wings and mounted up from the earth before my eyes as they went out, with the wheels beside them. And they stood at the entrance of the east gate of the house of the Lord, and the glory of the God of Israel was over them. (Eze 1:28; Eze 10:2; Eze 11:1; Eze 11:22; Eze 43:2)20 These were the living creatures that I saw underneath the God of Israel by the Chebar canal; and I knew that they were cherubim. (Eze 1:1; Eze 1:5; Eze 1:22; Eze 1:26)21 Each had four faces, and each four wings, and underneath their wings the likeness of human hands. (Eze 1:6; Eze 10:8)22 And as for the likeness of their faces, they were the same faces whose appearance I had seen by the Chebar canal. Each one of them went straight forward. (Eze 1:10; Eze 10:11)

Ezekiel 10

New International Version

from Biblica
1 I looked, and I saw the likeness of a throne of lapis lazuli above the vault that was over the heads of the cherubim.2 The Lord said to the man clothed in linen, ‘Go in among the wheels beneath the cherubim. Fill your hands with burning coals from among the cherubim and scatter them over the city.’ And as I watched, he went in.3 Now the cherubim were standing on the south side of the temple when the man went in, and a cloud filled the inner court.4 Then the glory of the Lord rose from above the cherubim and moved to the threshold of the temple. The cloud filled the temple, and the court was full of the radiance of the glory of the Lord.5 The sound of the wings of the cherubim could be heard as far away as the outer court, like the voice of God Almighty[1] when he speaks.6 When the Lord commanded the man in linen, ‘Take fire from among the wheels, from among the cherubim,’ the man went in and stood beside a wheel.7 Then one of the cherubim reached out his hand to the fire that was among them. He took up some of it and put it into the hands of the man in linen, who took it and went out.8 (Under the wings of the cherubim could be seen what looked like human hands.)9 I looked, and I saw beside the cherubim four wheels, one beside each of the cherubim; the wheels sparkled like topaz.10 As for their appearance, the four of them looked alike; each was like a wheel intersecting a wheel.11 As they moved, they would go in any one of the four directions the cherubim faced; the wheels did not turn about[2] as the cherubim went. The cherubim went in whatever direction the head faced, without turning as they went.12 Their entire bodies, including their backs, their hands and their wings, were completely full of eyes, as were their four wheels.13 I heard the wheels being called ‘the whirling wheels’.14 Each of the cherubim had four faces: one face was that of a cherub, the second the face of a human being, the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle.15 Then the cherubim rose upward. These were the living creatures I had seen by the River Kebar.16 When the cherubim moved, the wheels beside them moved; and when the cherubim spread their wings to rise from the ground, the wheels did not leave their side.17 When the cherubim stood still, they also stood still; and when the cherubim rose, they rose with them, because the spirit of the living creatures was in them.18 Then the glory of the Lord departed from over the threshold of the temple and stopped above the cherubim.19 While I watched, the cherubim spread their wings and rose from the ground, and as they went, the wheels went with them. They stopped at the entrance of the east gate of the Lord’s house, and the glory of the God of Israel was above them.20 These were the living creatures I had seen beneath the God of Israel by the River Kebar, and I realised that they were cherubim.21 Each had four faces and four wings, and under their wings was what looked like human hands.22 Their faces had the same appearance as those I had seen by the River Kebar. Each one went straight ahead.

Ezekiel 10

New International Reader’s Version

from Biblica
1 I looked up and saw something that appeared to be a throne made out of lapis lazuli. It was above the huge space that was spread out over the heads of the cherubim.2 The LORD spoke to the man who was wearing linen clothes. He said, ‘Go in among the wheels beneath the cherubim. Fill your hands with burning coals from the fire that is among the cherubim. Scatter the coals over the city.’ As I watched, he went in.3 The cherubim were standing on the south side of the temple when the man went in. A cloud filled the inner courtyard.4 Then the glory of the LORD rose from above the cherubim. It moved to the doorway of the temple. The cloud filled the temple. And the courtyard was full of the brightness of the glory of the LORD.5 The sound the wings of the cherubim made could be heard as far away as the outer courtyard. It was like the voice of the Mighty God when he speaks.6 The LORD gave a command to the man who was dressed in linen clothes. He said, ‘Get some coals of fire from among the wheels. Take them from among the cherubim.’ So the man went in and stood beside a wheel.7 Then one of the cherubim reached out his hand. He picked up some of the burning coals that were among the wheels. He handed them to the man who was wearing linen clothes. The man took them and left.8 I saw what looked like human hands. They were under the wings of the cherubim.9 I looked up and saw four wheels beside the cherubim. One wheel was beside each of them. The wheels gleamed like topaz.10 All four of them looked alike. Each wheel appeared to be inside another wheel at right angles.11 The wheels could go in any one of the four directions the cherubim faced. The wheels didn’t change their direction as the cherubim moved. The cherubim went in the direction their heads faced. They didn’t change their direction as they moved.12 Their whole bodies were completely covered with eyes. That included their backs, hands and wings. Their four wheels were covered with eyes too.13 I heard someone tell the wheels to start spinning around.14 Each of the cherubim had four faces. One face was the face of a cherub. The second was the face of a human being. The third was the face of a lion. And the fourth was an eagle’s face.15 The cherubim rose from the ground. They were the same living creatures I had seen by the River Kebar.16 When the cherubim moved, the wheels beside them moved. The cherubim spread their wings to rise from the ground. As they did, the wheels didn’t leave their side.17 When the cherubim stood still, the wheels also stood still. When the cherubim rose, the wheels rose along with them. That’s because the spirits of the living creatures were in the wheels.18 Then the glory of the LORD moved away from the doorway of the temple. It stopped above the cherubim.19 While I watched, they spread their wings. They rose from the ground. As they went, the wheels went along with them. They stopped at the entrance of the east gate of the LORD’s house. And the glory of the God of Israel was above them.20 These were the same living creatures I had seen by the River Kebar. I had seen them beneath the God of Israel. I realised that they were cherubim.21 Each one had four faces and four wings. Under their wings was what looked like human hands.22 Their faces looked the same as the ones I had seen by the River Kebar. Each of the cherubim went straight ahead.

Ezekiel 10

King James Version

1 Then I looked, and, behold, in the firmament that was above the head of the cherubims there appeared over them as it were a sapphire stone, as the appearance of the likeness of a throne.2 And he spake unto the man clothed with linen, and said, Go in between the wheels, even under the cherub, and fill thine hand with coals of fire from between the cherubims, and scatter them over the city. And he went in in my sight.3 Now the cherubims stood on the right side of the house, when the man went in; and the cloud filled the inner court.4 Then the glory of the LORD went up from the cherub, and stood over the threshold of the house; and the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was full of the brightness of the LORD' glory.5 And the sound of the cherubims'wings was heard even to the outer court, as the voice of the Almighty God when he speaketh.6 And it came to pass, that when he had commanded the man clothed with linen, saying, Take fire from between the wheels, from between the cherubims; then he went in, and stood beside the wheels.7 And one cherub stretched forth his hand from between the cherubims unto the fire that was between the cherubims, and took thereof , and put it into the hands of him that was clothed with linen: who took it , and went out.8 And there appeared in the cherubims the form of a man' hand under their wings.9 And when I looked, behold the four wheels by the cherubims, one wheel by one cherub, and another wheel by another cherub: and the appearance of the wheels was as the colour of a beryl stone.10 And as for their appearances, they four had one likeness, as if a wheel had been in the midst of a wheel.11 When they went, they went upon their four sides; they turned not as they went, but to the place whither the head looked they followed it; they turned not as they went.12 And their whole body, and their backs, and their hands, and their wings, and the wheels, were full of eyes round about, even the wheels that they four had.13 As for the wheels, it was cried unto them in my hearing, O wheel.14 And every one had four faces: the first face was the face of a cherub, and the second face was the face of a man, and the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle.15 And the cherubims were lifted up. This is the living creature that I saw by the river of Chebar.16 And when the cherubims went, the wheels went by them: and when the cherubims lifted up their wings to mount up from the earth, the same wheels also turned not from beside them.17 When they stood, these stood; and when they were lifted up, these lifted up themselves also : for the spirit of the living creature was in them.18 Then the glory of the LORD departed from off the threshold of the house, and stood over the cherubims.19 And the cherubims lifted up their wings, and mounted up from the earth in my sight: when they went out, the wheels also were beside them, and every one stood at the door of the east gate of the LORD' house; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above.20 This is the living creature that I saw under the God of Israel by the river of Chebar; and I knew that they were the cherubims.21 Every one had four faces apiece, and every one four wings; and the likeness of the hands of a man was under their wings.22 And the likeness of their faces was the same faces which I saw by the river of Chebar, their appearances and themselves: they went every one straight forward.

Ezekiel 10

Einheitsübersetzung 2016

from Katholisches Bibelwerk
