1On the third new moon after the people of Israel had gone out of the land of Egypt, on that day they came into the wilderness of Sinai. (Nu 33:15)2They set out from Rephidim and came into the wilderness of Sinai, and they encamped in the wilderness. There Israel encamped before the mountain, (Ex 3:1; Ex 17:1; Ex 17:8)3while Moses went up to God. The Lord called to him out of the mountain, saying, “Thus you shall say to the house of Jacob, and tell the people of Israel: (Ex 3:4; Ex 20:21; Ac 7:38)4‘You yourselves have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself. Verheißung Bund, Heiliges Volk und Königreich von Priestern

10Der HERR sprach zu Mose: Geh zum Volk! Heilige sie heute und morgen! Sie sollen ihre Kleider waschen11und sich für den dritten Tag bereithalten. Am dritten Tag nämlich wird der HERR vor den Augen des ganzen Volkes auf den Berg Sinai herabsteigen.12Zieh um das Volk eine Grenze und sag: Hütet euch, auf den Berg zu steigen oder auch nur seinen Fuß zu berühren! Jeder, der den Berg berührt, hat den Tod verdient.13Keine Hand soll den Berg berühren. Wer es aber tut, soll gesteinigt oder mit Pfeilen erschossen werden; sei es Tier oder Mensch, es darf nicht am Leben bleiben. Erst wenn das Horn ertönt, dürfen sie auf den Berg steigen.14Mose stieg vom Berg zum Volk hinunter und heiligte das Volk.
