2 Surely vexation kills the fool, and jealousy slays the simple. 3 I have seen the fool taking root, but suddenly I cursed his dwelling. 5 The hungry eat his harvest, and he takes it even out of thorns,^[1] and the thirsty pant^[2] after his^[3] wealth. 6 For affliction does not come from the dust, nor does trouble sprout from the ground, 7 but man is born to trouble as the sparks fly upward. 11 he sets on high those who are lowly, and those who mourn are lifted to safety. (1Sa 2:7; Ps 113:7) 12 He frustrates the devices of the crafty, so that their hands achieve no success. (Ne 4:15; Ps 33:10; Isa 8:10) 13 He catches the wise in their own craftiness, and the schemes of the wily are brought to a quick end. 1 Rufe doch, ob einer dir antwortet! Und an welchen von den Heiligen willst du dich wenden? 2 Denn einen Toren tötet der Unmut, und den Unverständigen bringt der Eifer um. 3 Ich sah einen Toren Wurzel schlagen, und sogleich fluchte ich seinem Hause. (Ps 37:35) 4 Seinen Kindern bleibt Hilfe fern, und sie werden zerschlagen im Tor; denn kein Erretter ist da. 5 Seine Ernte verzehrt der Hungrige, und auch aus den Hecken holt er sie, und nach seinem Gut lechzen die Durstigen. 6 Denn Unheil geht nicht aus der Erde hervor, und Mühsal wächst nicht aus dem Acker; 7 sondern der Mensch wird zur Mühsal geboren, wie die Funken des Feuers emporfliegen. 8 Ich aber würde mich zu Gott wenden und meine Sache vor ihn bringen, 9 der große Dinge tut, die nicht zu erforschen sind, und Wunder, die nicht zu zählen sind, (Job 9:10) 10 der den Regen aufs Land gibt und Wasser kommen lässt auf die Gefilde, 11 der die Niedrigen erhöht und den Betrübten emporhilft. (Ps 75:8; Lu 1:52) 12 Er macht zunichte die Pläne der Klugen, dass ihre Hände nichts zustande bringen. 13 Er fängt die Weisen in ihrer Klugheit und stürzt den Rat der Verkehrten, (1Co 3:19) 14 dass sie am Tage in Finsternis laufen und tappen am Mittag wie in der Nacht. (Isa 59:9) 15 Er hilft dem Armen vor dem Schwert, vor ihrem Mund und vor der Hand des Mächtigen den Elenden. 16 Dem Armen wird Hoffnung zuteil, und die Bosheit muss ihren Mund zuhalten. 17 Siehe, selig ist der Mensch, den Gott zurechtweist; darum widersetze dich der Zucht des Allmächtigen nicht. (Ps 94:12; Pr 3:11) 18 Denn er verletzt und verbindet; er zerschlägt und seine Hand heilt. (De 32:39; Ho 6:1) 19 In sechs Trübsalen wird er dich erretten, und in sieben wird dich kein Übel anrühren. (Ps 37:24; Pr 24:16) 20 In der Hungersnot wird er dich vom Tod erlösen und im Kriege von des Schwertes Gewalt. 21 Er wird dich verbergen vor der Geißel der Zunge, dass du dich nicht fürchten musst, wenn Verderben kommt. 22 Über Verderben und Hunger wirst du lachen und dich vor den wilden Tieren im Lande nicht fürchten. 23 Denn dein Bund wird sein mit den Steinen auf dem Felde, und die wilden Tiere werden Frieden mit dir halten, (Isa 11:6; Ho 2:20) 24 und du wirst erfahren, dass deine Hütte Frieden hat, und wirst deine Stätte überschauen und nichts vermissen, 25 und du wirst erfahren, dass deine Kinder sich mehren und deine Nachkommen wie das Gras auf Erden sind, 26 und du wirst im Alter zu Grabe kommen, wie Garben eingebracht werden zur rechten Zeit. 27 Siehe, das haben wir erforscht, so ist es; darauf höre und merke du dir’s.
