Job Continues: Where Is Wisdom?

1 “Surely there is a mine for silver, and a place for gold that they refine. (Mal 3:3) 2 Iron is taken out of the earth, and copper is smelted from the ore. 3 Man puts an end to darkness and searches out to the farthest limit the ore in gloom and deep darkness. (Job 3:5; Job 10:22) 4 He opens shafts in a valley away from where anyone lives; they are forgotten by travelers; they hang in the air, far away from mankind; they swing to and fro. 5 As for the earth, out of it comes bread, but underneath it is turned up as by fire. (Ps 104:14) 6 Its stones are the place of sapphires,^[1] and it has dust of gold. (Ex 24:10) 7 “That path no bird of prey knows, and the falcon’s eye has not seen it. 8 The proud beasts have not trodden it; the lion has not passed over it. (Job 10:16; Job 41:34) 9 “Man puts his hand to the flinty rock and overturns mountains by the roots. (De 8:15; De 32:13; Ps 114:8) 10 He cuts out channels in the rocks, and his eye sees every precious thing. 11 He dams up the streams so that they do not trickle, and the thing that is hidden he brings out to light. 12 “But where shall wisdom be found? And where is the place of understanding? (Pr 16:16; Ec 7:24) 13 Man does not know its worth, and it is not found in the land of the living. (Ps 27:13) 14 The deep says, ‘It is not in me,’ and the sea says, ‘It is not with me.’ (Ge 49:25) 15 It cannot be bought for gold, and silver cannot be weighed as its price. 17 Gold and glass cannot equal it, nor can it be exchanged for jewels of fine gold. 18 No mention shall be made of coral or of crystal; the price of wisdom is above pearls. (Pr 3:15; Pr 8:11; Pr 20:15; Pr 31:10; La 4:7; Eze 27:16)

19 The topaz of Ethiopia cannot equal it, nor can it be valued in pure gold. (Ex 28:17; Ex 39:10; Eze 28:13) 20 “From where, then, does wisdom come? And where is the place of understanding? 21 It is hidden from the eyes of all living and concealed from the birds of the air. Das Lied von der Weisheit Gottes

1 Es hat das Silber seine Gänge und das Gold seinen Ort, wo man es läutert. 2 Eisen bringt man aus der Erde, und aus dem Gestein schmilzt man Kupfer. 3 Man macht der Finsternis ein Ende, und bis ins Letzte erforscht man das Gestein, das im Dunkel tief verborgen liegt. 4 Man gräbt einen Schacht fern von da, wo man wohnt; vergessen, ohne Halt für den Fuß, hängen und schweben sie, fern von den Menschen. 5 Man zerwühlt wie Feuer unten die Erde, auf der doch oben das Brot wächst. 6 Man findet Saphir in ihrem Gestein, und es birgt Goldstaub. 7 Den Steig dahin hat kein Geier erkannt und kein Falkenauge gesehen. 8 Das stolze Wild hat ihn nicht betreten, und kein Löwe ist darauf gegangen. 9 Auch legt man die Hand an die Felsen und gräbt die Berge von Grund aus um. 10 Man bricht Stollen durch die Felsen, und alles, was kostbar ist, sieht das Auge. 11 Man wehrt dem Tröpfeln des Wassers und bringt, was verborgen ist, ans Licht. 12 Wo will man aber die Weisheit finden? Und wo ist die Stätte der Einsicht? 13 Niemand weiß, was sie wert ist, und sie wird nicht gefunden im Lande der Lebendigen. 14 Die Tiefe spricht: »In mir ist sie nicht«; und das Meer spricht: »Bei mir ist sie auch nicht.« 15 Man kann nicht Gold für sie geben noch Silber darwägen, sie zu bezahlen. (Pr 3:13) 16 Sie kann mit Gold aus Ofir nicht aufgewogen werden, nicht mit kostbarem Onyx und Saphir. 17 Gold und edles Glas kann man ihr nicht gleichachten noch sie eintauschen um güldnes Kleinod. 18 Korallen und Kristall achtet man gegen sie nicht; ein Beutel voll Weisheit ist mehr wert als Perlen. 19 Topas aus Kusch wird ihr nicht gleichgeschätzt, und das reinste Gold wiegt sie nicht auf. 20 Woher kommt denn die Weisheit? Und wo ist die Stätte der Einsicht? 21 Sie ist verhüllt vor den Augen aller Lebendigen, auch verborgen den Vögeln unter dem Himmel. 22 Der Abgrund und der Tod sprechen: »Wir haben mit unsern Ohren nur ein Gerücht von ihr gehört.« 23 Gott weiß den Weg zu ihr, er allein kennt ihre Stätte. (Pr 8:22) 24 Denn er sieht die Enden der Erde und schaut alles, was unter dem Himmel ist. 25 Als er dem Wind sein Gewicht gegeben und dem Wasser sein Maß gesetzt, 26 als er dem Regen ein Gesetz gegeben hat und dem Blitz und Donner den Weg: 27 Damals schon sah er sie und verkündigte sie, bereitete sie und ergründete sie 28 und sprach zum Menschen: Siehe, die Furcht des Herrn, das ist Weisheit, und meiden das Böse, das ist Einsicht.
