1Draw near, O nations, to hear, and give attention, O peoples! Let the earth hear, and all that fills it; the world, and all that comes from it. (Ps 49:1; Joe 3:1)2For the Lord is enraged against all the nations, and furious against all their host; he has devoted them to destruction,[1] has given them over for slaughter. (Jos 6:21)3Their slain shall be cast out, and the stench of their corpses shall rise; the mountains shall flow with their blood. (Eze 39:4; Joe 2:20)4All the host of heaven shall rot away, and the skies roll up like a scroll. All their host shall fall, as leaves fall from the vine, like leaves falling from the fig tree. (Ps 102:26; Joe 2:31; Joe 3:15; Mt 24:29; Ac 2:20; Heb 1:11; Re 6:13)5For my sword has drunk its fill in the heavens; behold, it descends for judgment upon Edom, upon the people I have devoted to destruction. (Isa 34:2; Isa 63:1; Jer 49:7; Ob 1:1; Mal 1:2)6The Lord has a sword; it is sated with blood; it is gorged with fat, with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams. For the Lord has a sacrifice in Bozrah, a great slaughter in the land of Edom. (Isa 63:1)7Wild oxen shall fall with them, and young steers with the mighty bulls. Their land shall drink its fill of blood, and their soil shall be gorged with fat. (Nu 23:22; Ps 22:12; Isa 47:1)8For the Lord has a day of vengeance, a year of recompense for the cause of Zion. (Ps 137:7; Isa 61:2; Isa 63:4)9And the streams of Edom[2] shall be turned into pitch, and her soil into sulfur; her land shall become burning pitch. (De 29:23)10Night and day it shall not be quenched; its smoke shall go up forever. From generation to generation it shall lie waste; none shall pass through it forever and ever. (Isa 66:24; Mal 1:4; Re 14:11; Re 18:18; Re 19:3)11But the hawk and the porcupine[3] shall possess it, the owl and the raven shall dwell in it. He shall stretch the line of confusion[4] over it, and the plumb line of emptiness. (2Ki 21:13; Isa 14:23; Isa 24:10; La 2:8; Am 7:7; Zep 2:14; Re 18:2)12Its nobles—there is no one there to call it a kingdom, and all its princes shall be nothing.13Thorns shall grow over its strongholds, nettles and thistles in its fortresses. It shall be the haunt of jackals, an abode for ostriches.[5] (Ps 44:19; Isa 13:22; Isa 32:13; Mal 1:3)14And wild animals shall meet with hyenas; the wild goat shall cry to his fellow; indeed, there the night bird[6] settles and finds for herself a resting place. (Isa 13:21)15There the owl nests and lays and hatches and gathers her young in her shadow; indeed, there the hawks are gathered, each one with her mate. (De 14:13)16Seek and read from the book of the Lord: Not one of these shall be missing; none shall be without her mate. For the mouth of the Lord has commanded, and his Spirit has gathered them.17He has cast the lot for them; his hand has portioned it out to them with the line; they shall possess it forever; from generation to generation they shall dwell in it. (Ps 78:55)

Er hat sie mit dem Bann belegt und zur Schlachtung dahingegeben. (Isa 63:6)3Und ihre Erschlagenen werden hingeworfen werden, dass der Gestank von ihren Leichnamen aufsteigen wird und die Berge von ihrem Blut fließen. (Joe 2:20)4Und alles Heer des Himmels wird dahinschwinden, und der Himmel wird zusammengerollt werden wie eine Buchrolle, und all sein Heer wird hinwelken, wie ein Blatt verwelkt am Weinstock und wie ein dürres Blatt am Feigenbaum. (Re 6:13)5Denn mein Schwert ist trunken im Himmel, und siehe, es wird herniederfahren auf Edom und auf das Volk, das ich mit dem Bann belegt habe zum Gericht. (De 32:41; Jer 49:7)6Des HERRN Schwert ist voll Blut und trieft von Fett, vom Blut der Lämmer und Böcke, vom Nierenfett der Widder. Denn der HERR hält ein Schlachten in Bozra und ein großes Opfer im Lande Edom. (Isa 63:1)7Da werden Wildstiere mit ihnen niedersinken und junge Stiere samt den Büffeln. Und ihr Land wird trunken werden von Blut, und die Erde wird triefen von Fett.8Denn es kommt der Tag der Rache des HERRN und das Jahr der Vergeltung, um Zion zu rächen. (Isa 35:4; Isa 61:2; Isa 63:4)9Da werden Edoms Bäche zu Pech werden und seine Erde zu Schwefel; ja, sein Land wird zu brennendem Pech werden, (Ge 19:24)10das weder Tag noch Nacht verlöschen wird, sondern immer wird Rauch von ihm aufgehen. Und es wird verwüstet sein von Geschlecht zu Geschlecht, dass niemand hindurchgehen wird auf ewige Zeiten,11sondern Eulen und Igel werden’s in Besitz nehmen, Nachteulen und Raben werden dort wohnen. Und er wird die Messschnur darüberspannen, dass es verwüstet werde, und das Bleilot werfen, dass es öde sei. (Isa 14:23; Zep 2:14)12Seine Edlen sind nicht mehr, die dort das Königtum ausrufen. Und alle seine Fürsten werden ein Ende haben.13Dornen werden wachsen in seinen Palästen, Nesseln und Disteln in seinen Schlössern; und es wird eine Behausung sein der Schakale und eine Stätte für die Strauße. (Isa 13:21; Isa 35:7)14Da werden Wüstentiere und wilde Hunde einander treffen, und ein Bocksgeist wird dem andern begegnen. Auch Lilit[1] wird dort hausen und ihre Stätte finden.15Da wird auch die Natter nisten, ihre Eier legen und sie ausbrüten. Auch die Raubvögel werden dort zusammenkommen. Keines vermisst das andere.16Sucht nun in dem Buch des HERRN und lest! Keines von ihnen wird fehlen. Denn sein Mund hat es geboten und sein Geist sie zusammengebracht.17Er hat ihnen das Los geworfen, und seine Hand hat es unter sie ausgeteilt mit der Messschnur, dass sie das Land besitzen auf ewige Zeiten und darin wohnen von Geschlecht zu Geschlecht. (Isa 60:21)

Que la terre écoute avec tout ce qu'elle contient, le monde avec tout ce qu'il produit!2En effet, la colère de l'Eternel s'abat sur toutes les nations et sa fureur sur toute leur armée: il les voue à la destruction, il les livre au carnage.3Leurs victimes sont jetées, leurs cadavres exhalent la puanteur et les montagnes ruissellent de leur sang.4Tous les corps célestes se désagrègent; le ciel est roulé comme un livre et tous ses corps tomberont[1] comme la feuille de la vigne, comme celle du figuier. (Mt 24:29; Mr 13:25)5C'est que mon épée s'est enivrée dans le ciel. La voici qui descend pour frapper Edom, ce peuple que, pour respecter le droit, j'ai voué à la destruction définitive.6L'épée de l'Eternel est pleine de sang, recouverte de graisse, du sang des agneaux et des boucs, de la graisse des rognons des béliers. Oui, c'est un repas sacrificiel pour l'Eternel qui se déroule à Botsra, un grand carnage dans le pays d'Edom.7Les buffles tombent avec eux, et les bœufs avec les taureaux. Leur pays s'enivre de ce sang et leur poussière est imprégnée de graisse.8En effet, c'est un jour de vengeance pour l'Eternel, une année de représailles pour la cause de Sion.9L'eau des torrents d'Edom sera changée en goudron et sa poussière en soufre. Son pays deviendra du goudron brûlant10qui ne s'éteindra ni la nuit ni le jour. Sa fumée s'élèvera éternellement. De génération en génération il restera désert, plus jamais personne n'y passera.11Le pélican et le hérisson en prendront possession, la chouette et le corbeau y habiteront. On y étendra le ruban à mesurer du vide et le fil à plomb du chaos.12Ses notables n'y proclameront plus de roi, tous ses princes auront disparu.13Les buissons d'épines pousseront dans ses palais, les ronces et les orties dans ses forteresses. Ce sera le domaine des chacals, le repaire des autruches.14Les bêtes du désert y rencontreront les hyènes et les boucs s'y appelleront l'un l'autre. Le spectre de la nuit y aura sa résidence et y trouvera son endroit de repos.15Le serpent y fera son nid, y déposera ses œufs, les couvera et rassemblera ses petits sous son ombre. Là se rassembleront les vautours, chaque femelle avec son compagnon.16Cherchez dans le livre de l'Eternel et lisez! Aucune de ces bêtes ne sera absente, aucune femelle avec son compagnon ne manquera. Oui, c'est l'Eternel qui l'a ordonné et c'est son Esprit qui les rassemblera.17Il a procédé à un tirage au sort pour eux, sa main leur a partagé ce pays au ruban à mesurer. Ils en prendront possession pour toujours, ils y auront leur résidence de génération en génération.
