1Now the Lord said[1] to Abram, “Go from your country[2] and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. (Ac 7:3; Heb 11:8)2And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. (Ge 17:6; Ge 18:18; Ga 3:14)3I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”[3] (Ge 18:18; Ge 22:18; Ge 26:4; Ge 27:29; Ge 28:14; Nu 24:9; Jer 4:2; Ac 3:25; Ga 3:8; Ga 3:16)4So Abram went, as the Lord had told him, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran. (Ge 11:31)5And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother’s son, and all their possessions that they had gathered, and the people that they had acquired in Haran, and they set out to go to the land of Canaan. When they came to the land of Canaan,6Abram passed through the land to the place at Shechem, to the oak[4] of Moreh. At that time the Canaanites were in the land. (Ge 13:7; Ge 13:18; De 11:30; Jud 7:1; Heb 11:9)7Then the Lord appeared to Abram and said, “To your offspring I will give this land.” So he built there an altar to the Lord, who had appeared to him. (Ge 13:15; Ge 17:8; Ex 33:1; Nu 32:11; Ps 105:9; Ga 3:16)8From there he moved to the hill country on the east of Bethel and pitched his tent, with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east. And there he built an altar to the Lord and called upon the name of the Lord. (Ge 28:19)9And Abram journeyed on, still going toward the Negeb.
Abram and Sarai in Egypt
10Now there was a famine in the land. So Abram went down to Egypt to sojourn there, for the famine was severe in the land. (Ge 26:1; Ge 43:1)11When he was about to enter Egypt, he said to Sarai his wife, “I know that you are a woman beautiful in appearance,12and when the Egyptians see you, they will say, ‘This is his wife.’ Then they will kill me, but they will let you live. (Ge 20:1; Ge 26:6)13Say you are my sister, that it may go well with me because of you, and that my life may be spared for your sake.”14When Abram entered Egypt, the Egyptians saw that the woman was very beautiful.15And when the princes of Pharaoh saw her, they praised her to Pharaoh. And the woman was taken into Pharaoh’s house.16And for her sake he dealt well with Abram; and he had sheep, oxen, male donkeys, male servants, female servants, female donkeys, and camels.17But the Lord afflicted Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai, Abram’s wife. (1Ch 16:21; Ps 105:14)18So Pharaoh called Abram and said, “What is this you have done to me? Why did you not tell me that she was your wife?19Why did you say, ‘She is my sister,’ so that I took her for my wife? Now then, here is your wife; take her, and go.”20And Pharaoh gave men orders concerning him, and they sent him away with his wife and all that he had.

Abram aber war fünfundsiebzig Jahre alt, als er aus Haran zog.5So nahm Abram Sarai, seine Frau, und Lot, seines Bruders Sohn, mit aller ihrer Habe, die sie gewonnen hatten, und die Leute, die sie erworben hatten in Haran, und zogen aus, um ins Land Kanaan zu gehen. Und sie kamen in das Land,6und Abram durchzog das Land bis an die Stätte bei Sichem, bis zur Eiche More; es wohnten aber zu der Zeit die Kanaaniter im Lande. (Ge 35:4; Jos 24:25)7Da erschien der HERR dem Abram und sprach: Deinen Nachkommen will ich dies Land geben. Und er baute dort einen Altar dem HERRN, der ihm erschienen war. (Ge 13:15; Ge 15:18; Ge 17:8; Ge 35:12; Ex 6:4; Ex 6:8; Ex 32:13; Jos 21:43; Ac 7:5)8Danach brach er von dort auf ins Gebirge östlich von Bethel und schlug sein Zelt auf, sodass er Bethel im Westen und Ai im Osten hatte, und baute dort dem HERRN einen Altar und rief den Namen des HERRN an. (Ge 4:26)9Danach zog Abram immer weiter bis ins Südland.
Abram und Sarai in Ägypten
10Es kam aber eine Hungersnot in das Land. Da zog Abram hinab nach Ägypten, dass er sich dort als ein Fremdling aufhielte; denn der Hunger war groß im Lande. (Ge 20:1; Ge 26:7)11Und als er nahe an Ägypten war, sprach er zu Sarai, seiner Frau: Siehe, ich weiß, dass du eine schöne Frau bist.12Wenn dich nun die Ägypter sehen, so werden sie sagen: Das ist seine Frau, und werden mich umbringen und dich leben lassen.13So sage doch, du seist meine Schwester, auf dass mir’s wohlgehe um deinetwillen und ich am Leben bleibe um deinetwillen.14Als nun Abram nach Ägypten kam, sahen die Ägypter, dass seine Frau sehr schön war.15Und die Großen des Pharao sahen sie und priesen sie vor ihm. Da wurde sie in das Haus des Pharao gebracht.16Und er tat Abram Gutes um ihretwillen; und er bekam Schafe, Rinder, Esel, Knechte und Mägde, Eselinnen und Kamele.17Aber der HERR plagte den Pharao und sein Haus mit großen Plagen um Sarais, Abrams Frau, willen.18Da rief der Pharao Abram zu sich und sprach zu ihm: Warum hast du mir das angetan? Warum sagtest du mir nicht, dass sie deine Frau ist?19Warum sprachst du denn: Sie ist meine Schwester, sodass ich sie mir zur Frau nahm? Und nun siehe, da hast du deine Frau; nimm sie und zieh hin.20Und der Pharao bestellte Leute um seinetwillen, dass sie ihn geleiteten und seine Frau und alles, was er hatte.

Abram était âgé de 75 ans lorsqu'il quitta Charan.5Il prit sa femme Saraï et Lot, le fils de son frère. Il prit aussi tous les biens et les serviteurs dont ils étaient devenus propriétaires à Charan, et ils partirent pour se rendre dans le pays de Canaan, où ils arrivèrent.6Abram traversa le pays jusqu'à l'endroit appelé Sichem, jusqu'aux chênes de Moré. Les Cananéens occupaient alors le pays.7L'Eternel apparut à Abram et dit: «C'est à ta descendance[3] que je donnerai ce pays.» Abram construisit là un autel en l'honneur de l'Eternel qui lui était apparu. (Ga 3:16)8Il partit de là vers la région montagneuse qui se trouve à l'est de Béthel et il dressa ses tentes. Béthel était à l'ouest et Aï à l'est. Là, il construisit un autel en l'honneur de l'Eternel et fit appel au nom de l'Eternel.9Puis Abram continua par étapes en direction du Néguev[4].
Abram en Egypte
10Il y eut une famine dans le pays et Abram descendit en Egypte pour y séjourner, car la famine pesait lourdement sur le pays.11Comme il était sur le point d'entrer en Egypte, il dit à sa femme Saraï: «Ecoute-moi! Je sais que tu es une belle femme.12Quand les Egyptiens te verront, ils diront: ‘C'est sa femme’ et ils me tueront, tandis que toi, ils te laisseront en vie.13Présente-toi donc comme ma sœur afin que je sois bien traité à cause de toi et que je reste en vie grâce à toi.»14Lorsque Abram fut arrivé en Egypte, les Egyptiens virent que la femme était très belle.15Les intendants du pharaon la virent et la vantèrent au pharaon, si bien que la femme fut emmenée chez le pharaon.16Il traita bien Abram à cause d'elle et Abram reçut des brebis, des bœufs, des ânes, des serviteurs et des servantes, des ânesses et des chameaux.17Cependant, l'Eternel frappa le pharaon et sa famille de grands fléaux à cause de Saraï, la femme d'Abram.18Alors le pharaon appela Abram et dit: «Qu'est-ce que tu m'as fait? Pourquoi ne m'as-tu pas informé que c'est ta femme?19Pourquoi as-tu prétendu que c'était ta sœur? De ce fait, je l'ai prise pour femme! Voici maintenant ta femme. Prends-la et va-t'en!»20Et le pharaon donna l'ordre à ses gens de le renvoyer, lui et sa femme, avec tout ce qui lui appartenait.
