Nations Descended from Noah

1 These are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Sons were born to them after the flood. 2 The sons of Japheth: Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras. (1Ch 1:5; Eze 38:1) 3 The sons of Gomer: Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah. 4 The sons of Javan: Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim. (Nu 24:24; Ps 72:10; Isa 23:1; Isa 23:12; Eze 38:13; Da 11:30)

5 From these the coastland peoples spread in their lands, each with his own language, by their clans, in their nations. (Isa 11:11; Jer 2:10; Jer 25:22; Eze 27:6; Zep 2:11)

6 The sons of Ham: Cush, Egypt, Put, and Canaan. (1Ch 1:8) 7 The sons of Cush: Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca. The sons of Raamah: Sheba and Dedan. 8 Cush fathered Nimrod; he was the first on earth to be a mighty man.^[1] 9 He was a mighty hunter before the Lord. Therefore it is said, “Like Nimrod a mighty hunter before the Lord.” 10 The beginning of his kingdom was Babel, Erech, Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar. (Ge 11:2; Ge 11:9) 11 From that land he went into Assyria and built Nineveh, Rehoboth-Ir, Calah, and 12 Resen between Nineveh and Calah; that is the great city. 13 Egypt fathered Ludim, Anamim, Lehabim, Naphtuhim, (1Ch 1:11) 14 Pathrusim, Casluhim (from whom^[2] the Philistines came), and Caphtorim. (De 2:23; Jer 47:4; Am 9:7) 15 Canaan fathered Sidon his firstborn and Heth, (Ge 15:18) 16 and the Jebusites, the Amorites, the Girgashites, 17 the Hivites, the Arkites, the Sinites, 18 the Arvadites, the Zemarites, and the Hamathites. Afterward the clans of the Canaanites dispersed. 19 And the territory of the Canaanites extended from Sidon in the direction of Gerar as far as Gaza, and in the direction of Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim, as far as Lasha. 20 These are the sons of Ham, by their clans, their languages, their lands, and their nations. 21 To Shem also, the father of all the children of Eber, the elder brother of Japheth, children were born. 22 The sons of Shem: Elam, Asshur, Arpachshad, Lud, and Aram. (1Ch 1:17) 23 The sons of Aram: Uz, Hul, Gether, and Mash. 24 Arpachshad fathered Shelah; and Shelah fathered Eber. (Ge 11:12; Lu 3:35) 25 To Eber were born two sons: the name of the one was Peleg,^[3] for in his days the earth was divided, and his brother’s name was Joktan. (1Ch 1:19) 26 Joktan fathered Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah, 27 Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah, 28 Obal, Abimael, Sheba, 29 Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab; all these were the sons of Joktan. (1Ki 9:28; 1Ki 10:11) 30 The territory in which they lived extended from Mesha in the direction of Sephar to the hill country of the east. 31 These are the sons of Shem, by their clans, their languages, their lands, and their nations. 32 These are the clans of the sons of Noah, according to their genealogies, in their nations, and from these the nations spread abroad on the earth after the flood. 3 Die Söhne Gomers sind diese: Aschkenas, Rifat und Togarma. 4 Die Söhne Jawans sind diese: Elischa, Tarsis, die Kittäer und die Rodaniter. 5 Von diesen trennten sich die Völker der Inseln in ihren Ländern, ein jedes nach seiner Sprache, nach seinen Geschlechtern in ihren Völkern. 6 Die Söhne Hams sind diese: Kusch, Mizrajim, Put und Kanaan. 7 Und die Söhne des Kusch sind diese: Seba, Hawila, Sabta, Ragma und Sabtecha. Aber die Söhne Ragmas sind diese: Saba und Dedan. 8 Kusch aber zeugte Nimrod. Der war der Erste, der Gewalt übte auf Erden, 9 und war ein gewaltiger Jäger vor dem HERRN. Daher spricht man: Das ist ein gewaltiger Jäger vor dem HERRN wie Nimrod. (Mic 5:5) 10 Und der Anfang seines Reichs war Babel, Erech, Akkad und Kalne im Lande Schinar. 11 Von diesem Lande ist er nach Assur gekommen und baute Ninive und Rehobot-Ir und Kelach, 12 dazu Resen zwischen Ninive und Kelach. Das ist die große Stadt. 13 Mizrajim zeugte die Luditer, die Anamiter, die Lehabiter, die Naftuhiter, 14 die Patrositer, die Kasluhiter; von denen sind gekommen die Philister und die Kaftoriter. 15 Kanaan aber zeugte Sidon, seinen ersten Sohn, und Het 16 und den Jebusiter, den Amoriter, den Girgaschiter, 17 den Hiwiter, den Arkiter, den Siniter, 18 den Arwaditer, den Zemariter und den Hamatiter. Nachher haben sich die Geschlechter der Kanaaniter weiter ausgebreitet, 19 und ihre Grenzen waren von Sidon in der Richtung auf Gerar bis nach Gaza, in der Richtung auf Sodom, Gomorra, Adma, Zebojim bis nach Lescha. 20 Das sind die Söhne Hams nach ihren Geschlechtern, Sprachen, Ländern und Völkern. 21 Und auch Sem, dem Vater aller Söhne Ebers und älteren Bruder Jafets, wurden Söhne geboren: (Ge 11:10) 22 Und dies sind seine Söhne: Elam, Assur, Arpachschad, Lud und Aram. 23 Aber die Söhne Arams sind diese: Uz, Hul, Geter und Masch. (Ge 22:21) 24 Arpachschad aber zeugte Schelach, Schelach zeugte Eber. 25 Eber wurden zwei Söhne geboren. Einer hieß Peleg, weil zu seiner Zeit die Erde zerteilt wurde; und sein Bruder hieß Joktan. (Ge 11:8; De 32:8) 26 Und Joktan zeugte Almodad, Schelef, Hazarmawet, Jerach, 27 Hadoram, Usal, Dikla, 28 Obal, Abimaël, Saba, 29 Ofir, Hawila und Jobab. Das sind alles Söhne Joktans. 30 Und ihre Wohnsitze waren von Mescha bis man kommt nach Sefar, an das Gebirge im Osten. 31 Das sind die Söhne Sems nach ihren Geschlechtern, Sprachen, Ländern und Völkern. 32 Das sind nun die Nachkommen der Söhne Noahs nach ihren Geschlechtern und Völkern. Von denen her haben sich ausgebreitet die Völker auf Erden nach der Sintflut.

Descendance des fils de Noé

1 Voici la lignée des fils de Noé, Sem, Cham et Japhet. Ils eurent des fils après le déluge. 2 Les fils de Japhet furent Gomer, Magog, Madaï, Javan, Tubal, Méshec et Tiras. 3 Les fils de Gomer: Ashkenaz, Riphat et Togarma. 4 Les fils de Javan: Elisha, Tarsis, Kittim et Dodanim. 5 Ce sont eux qui ont peuplé les îles des nations, répartis par territoire d'après leur langue, groupés par clan dans leurs nations. 6 Les fils de Cham furent Cush, Mitsraïm, Puth et Canaan. 7 Les fils de Cush: Saba, Havila, Sabta, Raema et Sabteca. Les fils de Raema: Séba et Dedan. 8 Cush eut aussi pour fils Nimrod, qui fut le premier homme puissant sur la terre. 9 Il fut un puissant chasseur devant l'Eternel, c'est pourquoi l'on dit: «Comme Nimrod, puissant chasseur devant l'Eternel.» 10 Il régna d'abord sur Babel, Erec, Accad et Calné, dans le pays de Shinear. 11 C'est de ce pays-là que sortit Assur. Il construisit Ninive, Rehoboth-Hir, Calach 12 et Résen entre Ninive et Calach, la grande ville. 13 Mitsraïm eut pour descendants les Ludim, les Anamim, les Lehabim, les Naphtuhim, 14 les Patrusim, les Casluhim, dont sont issus les Philistins, et les Caphtorim. 15 Canaan eut pour descendants Sidon, son fils aîné, et Heth, 16 ainsi que les Jébusiens, les Amoréens, les Guirgasiens, 17 les Héviens, les Arkiens, les Siniens, 18 les Arvadiens, les Tsemariens, les Hamathiens. Ensuite, les clans des Cananéens se dispersèrent. 19 Le territoire des Cananéens allait de Sidon, du côté de Guérar jusqu'à Gaza, et du côté de Sodome, de Gomorrhe, d'Adma et de Tseboïm jusqu'à Lésha. 20 Voilà quels sont les fils de Cham, groupés par clan et par langue dans leurs territoires et leurs nations. 21 Le frère aîné de Japhet, Sem, eut aussi des fils. Il fut l'ancêtre de tous les descendants d'Héber. 22 Les fils de Sem furent Elam, Assur, Arpacshad, Lud et Aram. 23 Les fils d'Aram: Uts, Hul, Guéter et Mash. 24 Arpacshad eut pour fils Shélach et Shélach eut Héber. 25 Héber eut deux fils. Le nom de l'un était Péleg, parce que c'est à son époque que la terre fut partagée, et celui de son frère était Jokthan. 26 Jokthan eut pour fils Almodad, Shéleph, Hatsarmaveth, Jérach, 27 Hadoram, Uzal, Dikla, 28 Obal, Abimaël, Séba, 29 Ophir, Havila et Jobab. Tous ceux-là furent les fils de Jokthan. 30 Ils habitèrent depuis Mésha jusqu'à Sephar, la montagne de l'est. 31 Voilà quels sont les fils de Sem, groupés par clan et par langue dans leurs territoires et leurs nations. 32 Tels sont les clans des fils de Noé en fonction de leur lignée avec leurs nations. C'est d'eux que sont issues les nations qui se sont dispersées sur la terre après le déluge.
