The Death of Moses

1 Then Moses went up from the plains of Moab to Mount Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, which is opposite Jericho. And the Lord showed him all the land, Gilead as far as Dan, (Nu 27:12) 2 all Naphtali, the land of Ephraim and Manasseh, all the land of Judah as far as the western sea, (De 11:24) 3 the Negeb, and the Plain, that is, the Valley of Jericho the city of palm trees, as far as Zoar. 4 And the Lord said to him, “This is the land of which I swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, ‘I will give it to your offspring.’ I have let you see it with your eyes, but you shall not go over there.” (Ge 12:7; Ge 50:24; De 1:37; De 3:27; De 32:52)

5 So Moses the servant of the Lord died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the Lord, 6 and he buried him in the valley in the land of Moab opposite Beth-peor; but no one knows the place of his burial to this day. (Jud 1:9) 7 Moses was 120 years old when he died. His eye was undimmed, and his vigor unabated. (Ge 27:1; Ge 48:10; De 31:2; Jos 14:10; 1Sa 3:2; 1Sa 4:15)

8 And the people of Israel wept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days. Then the days of weeping and mourning for Moses were ended. (Ge 50:3; Nu 20:29) 9 And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom, for Moses had laid his hands on him. So the people of Israel obeyed him and did as the Lord had commanded Moses. 10 And there has not arisen a prophet since in Israel like Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face, (Ex 33:11; De 5:4; De 18:15; De 18:18)

11 none like him for all the signs and the wonders that the Lord sent him to do in the land of Egypt, to Pharaoh and to all his servants and to all his land, (De 4:34) 12 and for all the mighty power and all the great deeds of terror that Moses did in the sight of all Israel.

1 Und Mose stieg aus den Steppen Moabs auf den Berg Nebo, den Gipfel des Gebirges Pisga, gegenüber Jericho. Und der HERR zeigte ihm das ganze Land: Gilead bis nach Dan (De 3:27) 2 und das ganze Naftali und das Land Ephraim und Manasse und das ganze Land Juda bis an das Meer im Westen 3 und das Südland und die Gegend am Jordan, die Ebene von Jericho, der Palmenstadt, bis nach Zoar. (2Ch 28:15) 4 Und der HERR sprach zu ihm: Dies ist das Land, von dem ich Abraham, Isaak und Jakob geschworen habe: Ich will es deinen Nachkommen geben. – Du hast es mit deinen Augen gesehen, aber du sollst nicht hinübergehen. (Ge 12:7) 5 So starb Mose, der Knecht des HERRN, daselbst im Lande Moab nach dem Wort des HERRN. (De 32:50) 6 Und er begrub ihn im Tal, im Lande Moab gegenüber Bet-Peor. Und niemand hat sein Grab erfahren bis auf den heutigen Tag. 7 Und Mose war hundertzwanzig Jahre alt, als er starb. Seine Augen waren nicht schwach geworden, und seine Kraft war nicht verfallen. (De 31:2) 8 Und die Israeliten beweinten Mose in den Steppen Moabs dreißig Tage, bis die Zeit des Weinens und Klagens über Mose vollendet war. (Nu 20:29) 9 Josua aber, der Sohn Nuns, wurde erfüllt mit dem Geist der Weisheit; denn Mose hatte seine Hände auf ihn gelegt. Und die Israeliten gehorchten ihm und taten, wie der HERR es Mose geboten hatte. (Nu 27:18; 1Ti 4:14; 2Ti 1:6) 10 Und es stand hinfort kein Prophet in Israel auf wie Mose, den der HERR erkannt hätte von Angesicht zu Angesicht, (Ex 33:11; Nu 12:6; 1Co 13:12) 11 mit all den Zeichen und Wundern, mit denen der HERR ihn gesandt hatte, dass er sie täte in Ägyptenland am Pharao und an allen seinen Großen und an seinem ganzen Lande, 12 und mit all der mächtigen Kraft und den großen Schreckenstaten, die Mose vollbrachte vor den Augen von ganz Israel.

1 Moïse monta des plaines de Moab sur le mont Nebo, au sommet du Pisga, vis-à-vis de Jéricho. L'Eternel lui fit voir tout le pays: 2 Galaad jusqu'à Dan, tout Nephthali, le pays d'Ephraïm et de Manassé, tout le pays de Juda jusqu'à la mer Méditerranée, 3 le Néguev, les environs du Jourdain, la vallée de Jéricho, la ville des palmiers, jusqu'à Tsoar. 4 L'Eternel lui dit: «Voilà le pays que j'ai juré de donner à Abraham, à Isaac et à Jacob en disant: ‘Je le donnerai à ta descendance.’ Je te l'ai fait voir de tes yeux, mais tu n'y entreras pas.» 5 Moïse, le serviteur de l'Eternel, mourut là, dans le pays de Moab, conformément à l'ordre de l'Eternel. 6 L'Eternel l'enterra dans la vallée, dans le pays de Moab, vis-à-vis de Beth-Peor. Personne n'a su où était son tombeau jusqu'à aujourd'hui. 7 Moïse était âgé de 120 ans lorsqu'il mourut. Sa vue n'était pas affaiblie et il n'avait pas perdu sa vigueur. 8 Les Israélites pleurèrent Moïse pendant 30 jours dans les plaines de Moab. Puis les jours de pleurs et de deuil sur Moïse arrivèrent à leur terme. 9 Josué, fils de Nun, était rempli de l'Esprit de sagesse car Moïse avait posé ses mains sur lui. Les Israélites lui obéirent et se conformèrent aux ordres que l'Eternel avait donnés à Moïse. 10 Il n'a plus surgi en Israël de prophète semblable à Moïse, que l'Eternel connaissait face à face. 11 Personne ne peut lui être comparé pour tous les signes et les miracles que Dieu l'a envoyé faire en Egypte contre le pharaon, contre ses serviteurs et contre tout son pays, 12 et pour tous les actes terrifiants que Moïse a accomplis avec puissance sous les yeux de tout Israël.
