from Crossway1“If a prophet or a dreamer of dreams arises among you and gives you a sign or a wonder, (Jer 23:25; Jer 23:32; Jer 27:9; Jer 29:8; Zec 10:2)2and the sign or wonder that he tells you comes to pass, and if he says, ‘Let us go after other gods,’ which you have not known, ‘and let us serve them,’ (De 18:22; Jer 28:9)3you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams. For the Lord your God is testing you, to know whether you love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul. (De 8:2)4You shall walk after the Lord your God and fear him and keep his commandments and obey his voice, and you shall serve him and hold fast to him. (De 10:20; 2Ki 23:3; 2Ch 34:31)5But that prophet or that dreamer of dreams shall be put to death, because he has taught rebellion against the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt and redeemed you out of the house of slavery, to make you leave the way in which the Lord your God commanded you to walk. 2Wenn ein Prophet oder Träumer in deiner Mitte aufsteht und dir ein Zeichen oder Wunder ankündigt3und das Zeichen oder Wunder trifft ein, von dem er dir gesagt hat, und er spricht: Lasst uns andern Göttern folgen, die ihr nicht kennt, und ihnen dienen,4so sollst du nicht gehorchen den Worten eines solchen Propheten oder Träumers; denn der HERR, euer Gott, versucht euch, um zu erfahren, ob ihr ihn von ganzem Herzen und von ganzer Seele lieb habt. (De 8:2)5Dem HERRN, eurem Gott, sollt ihr folgen und ihn fürchten und seine Gebote halten und seiner Stimme gehorchen und ihm dienen und ihm anhangen.6Der Prophet aber oder der Träumer soll sterben, weil er Aufruhr gepredigt hat gegen den HERRN, euren Gott, der euch aus Ägyptenland geführt und dich aus der Knechtschaft erlöst hat, und weil er dich von dem Wege abbringen wollte, auf dem du wandeln sollst, wie der HERR, dein Gott, geboten hat –, auf dass du das Böse aus deiner Mitte wegtust. Auch soll dein Auge ihn nicht schonen, und du sollst dich seiner nicht erbarmen und seine Schuld nicht verheimlichen,10sondern sollst ihn zum Tode bringen. Deine Hand soll die erste wider ihn sein, ihn zu töten, und danach die Hand des ganzen Volks. (De 17:7)11Du sollst ihn zu Tode steinigen, denn er hat dich abbringen wollen von dem HERRN, deinem Gott, der dich aus Ägyptenland, aus der Knechtschaft, geführt hat,12auf dass ganz Israel aufhorche und sich fürchte und man nicht mehr solch Böses tue in deiner Mitte.13Wenn du hörst von einer deiner Städte, die dir der HERR, dein Gott, gibt, darin zu wohnen, dass man sagt:14Es sind ruchlose Leute aufgetreten aus deiner Mitte und haben die Bürger ihrer Stadt verführt und gesagt: Lasst uns hingehen und andern Göttern dienen, die ihr nicht kennt,15so sollst du gründlich suchen, forschen und fragen. Und wenn sich findet, dass es gewiss ist, dass solch ein Gräuel in deiner Mitte geschehen ist,16so sollst du die Bürger dieser Stadt erschlagen mit der Schärfe des Schwerts und an ihr den Bann vollstrecken, an allem, was darin ist, auch an ihrem Vieh, mit der Schärfe des Schwerts. (De 20:16)17Und alles, was in ihr erbeutet wird, sollst du sammeln mitten auf dem Marktplatz und mit Feuer verbrennen die Stadt und alle ihre Beute als ein Ganzopfer für den HERRN, deinen Gott, dass sie in Trümmern liege für immer und nie wieder aufgebaut werde.18Und lass nichts von dem, was dem Bann verfallen ist, an deiner Hand kleben, auf dass der HERR von seinem grimmigen Zorn abgewendet werde und gebe dir Barmherzigkeit und erbarme sich deiner und mehre dich, wie er deinen Vätern geschworen hat, (Jos 7:1)19weil du der Stimme des HERRN, deines Gottes, gehorchst und alle seine Gebote hältst, die ich dir heute gebiete, dass du tust, was recht ist vor den Augen des HERRN, deines Gottes.

Punition des prétendus prophètes et des idolâtres
2»Si un prophète ou un faiseur de rêves se lève au milieu de toi et t'annonce un signe ou un prodige,3et qu'il y ait accomplissement du signe ou du prodige dont il t'a parlé tout en t'invitant à suivre d'autres dieux, des dieux que tu ne connais pas, et à les servir,4tu n'écouteras pas les paroles de ce prophète ou de ce faiseur de rêves. En effet, c'est l'Eternel, votre Dieu, qui vous met à l'épreuve pour savoir si vous l'aimez, lui, de tout votre cœur et toute votre âme.5C'est l'Eternel, votre Dieu, que vous suivrez et c'est lui que vous craindrez. Ce sont ses commandements que vous respecterez, c'est à lui que vous obéirez, c'est lui que vous servirez et c'est à lui que vous vous attacherez.6Ce prophète ou ce faiseur de rêves sera puni de mort, car il a parlé de révolte contre l'Eternel, votre Dieu, qui vous a fait sortir d'Egypte et vous a délivrés de la maison d'esclavage, et il a voulu te détourner de la voie dans laquelle l'Eternel, ton Dieu, t'a ordonné de marcher. Tu extirperas ainsi le mal du milieu de toi.[1] (De 17:7; De 17:12; 1Co 5:13)7»Si ton frère, le fils de ta mère, ou ton fils ou ta fille, ou la femme qui repose sur ta poitrine, ou encore ton ami que tu aimes comme toi-même, t'incite secrètement à aller servir d'autres dieux, des dieux que ni toi ni tes ancêtres n'avez connus,8pris parmi les dieux des peuples qui vous entourent, qu'ils soient près ou loin de toi, d'une extrémité de la terre à l'autre,9tu ne te montreras pas d'accord avec lui et tu ne l'écouteras pas. Ton regard sera sans pitié envers lui, tu ne l'épargneras pas et tu ne le couvriras pas.10Au contraire, tu le feras mourir. C'est ta main qui se lèvera la première contre lui pour le mettre à mort, puis celle de tout le peuple.11Tu le lapideras et il mourra, parce qu'il a cherché à te détourner de l'Eternel, ton Dieu, qui t'a fait sortir d'Egypte, de la maison d'esclavage.12Tous les Israélites en entendront parler et éprouveront de la crainte, et ainsi l'on ne commettra plus d'acte aussi criminel au milieu de toi.13»Si tu entends dire, au sujet de l'une des villes que l'Eternel, ton Dieu, t'a données pour habitation,14que des hommes mauvais sont sortis du milieu de toi et ont égaré les habitants de leur ville en les invitant à aller servir d'autres dieux, des dieux que tu ne connais pas,15tu feras des recherches. Tu enquêteras, tu interrogeras avec soin: est-ce vrai, le fait est-il établi, cet acte abominable a-t-il été commis au milieu de toi?16Alors tu frapperas du tranchant de l'épée les habitants de cette ville, tu la voueras à la destruction avec tout ce qui s'y trouvera, et tu en passeras le bétail au fil de l'épée.17Tu entasseras tout le butin au milieu de la place et tu brûleras entièrement la ville avec tout son butin, devant l'Eternel, ton Dieu. Elle sera pour toujours un tas de ruines, elle ne sera jamais reconstruite.18Rien de ce qui sera voué à la destruction ne s'attachera à ta main. Ainsi, l'Eternel renoncera à son ardente colère, il fera preuve de tendresse envers toi, il aura compassion de toi et te multipliera, comme il l'a juré à tes ancêtres,19si tu obéis à l'Eternel, ton Dieu, en respectant tous ses commandements que je te prescris aujourd'hui et en faisant ce qui est droit aux yeux de l'Eternel, ton Dieu.
