1In the twelfth year of Ahaz king of Judah, Hoshea the son of Elah began to reign in Samaria over Israel, and he reigned nine years. (2Ki 15:30)2And he did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, yet not as the kings of Israel who were before him.3Against him came up Shalmaneser king of Assyria. And Hoshea became his vassal and paid him tribute. (2Ki 18:9; Ho 10:14)4But the king of Assyria found treachery in Hoshea, for he had sent messengers to So, king of Egypt, and offered no tribute to the king of Assyria, as he had done year by year. Therefore the king of Assyria shut him up and bound him in prison.5Then the king of Assyria invaded all the land and came to Samaria, and for three years he besieged it.
7And this occurred because the people of Israel had sinned against the Lord their God, who had brought them up out of the land of Egypt from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and had feared other gods (Ex 20:2; Le 25:38; 2Ki 17:36)8and walked in the customs of the nations whom the Lord drove out before the people of Israel, and in the customs that the kings of Israel had practiced. (Le 18:3; De 18:9; 2Ki 16:3; 2Ki 17:19)9And the people of Israel did secretly against the Lord their God things that were not right. They built for themselves high places in all their towns, from watchtower to fortified city. (2Ki 18:8)10They set up for themselves pillars and Asherim on every high hill and under every green tree, (Ex 23:24)11and there they made offerings on all the high places, as the nations did whom the Lord carried away before them. And they did wicked things, provoking the Lord to anger,12and they served idols, of which the Lord had said to them, “You shall not do this.” (Ex 20:4)13Yet the Lord warned Israel and Judah by every prophet and every seer, saying, “Turn from your evil ways and keep my commandments and my statutes, in accordance with all the Law that I commanded your fathers, and that I sent to you by my servants the prophets.” (1Sa 9:9; 2Ki 17:23; Ne 9:30; Jer 18:11; Jer 25:5; Jer 35:15)14But they would not listen, but were stubborn, as their fathers had been, who did not believe in the Lord their God. (De 9:6; De 31:27; 2Ch 30:8; Ac 7:51)15They despised his statutes and his covenant that he made with their fathers and the warnings that he gave them. They went after false idols and became false, and they followed the nations that were around them, concerning whom the Lord had commanded them that they should not do like them. (De 12:30; De 29:25; De 32:21; 1Ki 16:13; Jer 2:5; Ro 1:21)16And they abandoned all the commandments of the Lord their God, and made for themselves metal images of two calves; and they made an Asherah and worshiped all the host of heaven and served Baal. (De 4:19; 1Ki 12:28; 1Ki 14:15; 1Ki 14:23; 1Ki 15:13; 1Ki 16:31; 1Ki 16:33; 1Ki 22:53; 2Ki 11:18; 2Ki 21:3; 2Ki 23:5)17And they burned their sons and their daughters as offerings[1] and used divination and omens and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the Lord, provoking him to anger. (Le 18:21; Le 19:26; De 18:10; 1Ki 21:20; 2Ki 16:3; Eze 23:37)18Therefore the Lord was very angry with Israel and removed them out of his sight. None was left but the tribe of Judah only. (1Ki 11:13; 1Ki 11:32; 1Ki 12:20)19Judah also did not keep the commandments of the Lord their God, but walked in the customs that Israel had introduced. (Jer 3:8)20And the Lord rejected all the descendants of Israel and afflicted them and gave them into the hand of plunderers, until he had cast them out of his sight. (Jud 2:14; 2Ki 13:3; 2Ki 15:29)21When he had torn Israel from the house of David, they made Jeroboam the son of Nebat king. And Jeroboam drove Israel from following the Lord and made them commit great sin. (1Ki 11:11; 1Ki 11:31; 1Ki 12:20; 1Ki 14:16)22The people of Israel walked in all the sins that Jeroboam did. They did not depart from them,23until the Lord removed Israel out of his sight, as he had spoken by all his servants the prophets. So Israel was exiled from their own land to Assyria until this day. (2Ki 17:6; 2Ki 17:13)
Assyria Resettles Samaria
24And the king of Assyria brought people from Babylon, Cuthah, Avva, Hamath, and Sepharvaim, and placed them in the cities of Samaria instead of the people of Israel. And they took possession of Samaria and lived in its cities. (1Ki 8:65; 2Ki 17:30; 2Ki 17:31; 2Ki 18:34; 2Ki 19:13; Ezr 4:2; Ezr 4:10)25And at the beginning of their dwelling there, they did not fear the Lord. Therefore the Lord sent lions among them, which killed some of them.26So the king of Assyria was told, “The nations that you have carried away and placed in the cities of Samaria do not know the law of the god of the land. Therefore he has sent lions among them, and behold, they are killing them, because they do not know the law of the god of the land.”27Then the king of Assyria commanded, “Send there one of the priests whom you carried away from there, and let him[2] go and dwell there and teach them the law of the god of the land.”28So one of the priests whom they had carried away from Samaria came and lived in Bethel and taught them how they should fear the Lord. (1Ki 12:29)29But every nation still made gods of its own and put them in the shrines of the high places that the Samaritans had made, every nation in the cities in which they lived. (1Ki 12:31; 1Ki 13:32)30The men of Babylon made Succoth-benoth, the men of Cuth made Nergal, the men of Hamath made Ashima, (2Ki 17:24)31and the Avvites made Nibhaz and Tartak; and the Sepharvites burned their children in the fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech, the gods of Sepharvaim. (2Ki 17:17; 2Ki 17:24; 2Ki 19:37)32They also feared the Lord and appointed from among themselves all sorts of people as priests of the high places, who sacrificed for them in the shrines of the high places. (1Ki 12:31; 2Ki 17:29; Zep 1:5)33So they feared the Lord but also served their own gods, after the manner of the nations from among whom they had been carried away.34To this day they do according to the former manner. They do not fear the Lord, and they do not follow the statutes or the rules or the law or the commandment that the Lord commanded the children of Jacob, whom he named Israel. (Ge 32:28; Ge 35:10; 1Ki 18:31)35The Lord made a covenant with them and commanded them, “You shall not fear other gods or bow yourselves to them or serve them or sacrifice to them, (Ex 20:5; Jud 6:10)36but you shall fear the Lord, who brought you out of the land of Egypt with great power and with an outstretched arm. You shall bow yourselves to him, and to him you shall sacrifice. (Ex 6:6; De 4:34; De 6:13; 2Ki 17:7)37And the statutes and the rules and the law and the commandment that he wrote for you, you shall always be careful to do. You shall not fear other gods, (De 5:32; 2Ki 17:35)38and you shall not forget the covenant that I have made with you. You shall not fear other gods, (De 4:23; 2Ki 17:35)39but you shall fear the Lord your God, and he will deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies.” (2Ki 17:36)40However, they would not listen, but they did according to their former manner.41So these nations feared the Lord and also served their carved images. Their children did likewise, and their children’s children—as their fathers did, so they do to this day. (Zep 1:5)

Israel wird in die Verbannung geführt
7Denn die Israeliten hatten gegen den HERRN, ihren Gott, gesündigt, der sie aus Ägyptenland geführt hatte, aus der Hand des Pharao, des Königs von Ägypten, und fürchteten andere Götter8und wandelten nach den Satzungen der Völker, die der HERR vor den Israeliten vertrieben hatte, und taten wie die Könige von Israel. (2Ki 16:3)9Und die Israeliten ersannen, was nicht recht war gegen den HERRN, ihren Gott. Sie bauten sich Höhen in allen ihren Städten, vom Wachtturm bis zur festen Stadt,10und richteten Steinmale auf und Ascheren auf jedem hohen Hügel und unter jedem grünen Baum (1Ki 14:23; 2Ki 16:4)11und räucherten auf allen Höhen wie die Völker, die der HERR vor ihnen weggetrieben hatte, und trieben böse Dinge, womit sie den HERRN erzürnten,12und dienten den Götzen, von denen der HERR zu ihnen gesagt hatte: Das sollt ihr nicht tun! (Ex 20:2)13Und doch hatte der HERR Israel und Juda gewarnt durch alle Propheten und alle Seher und ihnen sagen lassen: Kehrt um von euren bösen Wegen und haltet meine Gebote und Rechte nach dem ganzen Gesetz, das ich euren Vätern geboten habe und das ich zu euch gesandt habe durch meine Knechte, die Propheten. Sie taten wie die Heiden um sie her, von denen der HERR ihnen geboten hatte, sie sollten nicht wie diese tun.16Aber sie verließen alle Gebote des HERRN, ihres Gottes, und machten sich zwei gegossene Kälber und eine Aschera und beteten alles Heer des Himmels an und dienten dem Baal (1Ki 12:28; 1Ki 16:33)17und ließen ihre Söhne und Töchter durchs Feuer gehen und gingen mit Wahrsagerei und Zauberei um und verkauften sich, zu tun, was dem HERRN missfiel, um ihn zu erzürnen. (Le 18:21)18Da wurde der HERR sehr zornig über Israel und tat es von seinem Angesicht weg, sodass nichts übrig blieb als der Stamm Juda allein. –19Auch Juda hielt nicht die Gebote des HERRN, seines Gottes, sondern wandelte nach den Satzungen, nach denen Israel gelebt hatte. –20Darum verwarf der HERR das ganze Geschlecht Israel und demütigte sie und gab sie in die Hände der Räuber, bis er sie von seinem Angesicht wegstieß.21Denn Israel hatte sich losgerissen vom Hause David und Jerobeam, den Sohn Nebats, zum König gemacht. Der wandte Israel ab vom HERRN und machte, dass sie schwer sündigten. (1Ki 12:20)22So wandelten die Israeliten in allen Sünden Jerobeams, die er getan hatte, und sie ließen nicht davon ab,23bis der HERR Israel von seinem Angesicht wegtat, wie er geredet hatte durch alle seine Knechte, die Propheten. So wurde Israel aus seinem Lande weggeführt nach Assyrien bis auf diesen Tag. (De 28:63)
Die Neubesiedlung Samariens
24Der König von Assyrien aber ließ Leute von Babel kommen, von Kuta, von Awa, von Hamat und Sefarwajim und ließ sie wohnen in den Städten Samariens anstelle der Israeliten. Und sie nahmen Samarien in Besitz und wohnten in seinen Städten.25Als sie aber anfingen, dort zu wohnen, und den HERRN nicht fürchteten, sandte der HERR Löwen unter sie, die töteten sie. (Ho 13:8)26Und man ließ dem König von Assyrien sagen: Die Völker, die du hergebracht und mit denen du die Städte Samariens besetzt hast, wissen nichts von der Verehrung des Gottes dieses Landes. Darum hat er Löwen unter sie gesandt, und siehe, diese töten sie, weil sie nichts wissen von der Verehrung des Gottes dieses Landes.27Der König von Assyrien gebot und sprach: Bringt dorthin einen der Priester, die von dort weggeführt sind; er ziehe hin und wohne dort und lehre sie die Verehrung des Gottes des Landes.28Da kam einer der Priester, die aus Samarien weggeführt waren, und wohnte in Bethel und lehrte sie, wie sie den HERRN fürchten sollten.29Aber ein jedes Volk machte sich seinen Gott und tat ihn in die Heiligtümer auf den Höhen, die die Samaritaner gemacht hatten, jedes Volk in seinen Städten, in denen es wohnte.30Die von Babel machten sich Sukkot-Benot, die von Kuta machten sich Nergal, die von Hamat machten sich Aschima,31die von Awa machten sich Nibhas und Tartak; die von Sefarwajim verbrannten ihre Söhne dem Adrammelech und Anammelech, den Göttern derer von Sefarwajim. (2Ki 17:1)32Und weil sie auch den HERRN fürchteten, machten sie sich Priester auf den Höhen aus allem Volk unter ihnen; die taten Dienst für sie in den Heiligtümern auf den Höhen. (1Ki 12:31)33So fürchteten sie den HERRN, dienten aber auch den Göttern nach dem Brauch der Völker, aus denen man sie weggeführt hatte.34Und bis auf diesen Tag tun sie nach den früheren Bräuchen: Sie fürchten weder den HERRN noch halten sie Satzungen und Rechte nach dem Gesetz und Gebot, das der HERR geboten hat den Nachkommen Jakobs, dem er den Namen Israel gab; (Ge 32:29)35hatte doch der HERR einen Bund mit ihnen geschlossen und ihnen geboten: Fürchtet keine andern Götter und betet sie nicht an und dient ihnen nicht und opfert ihnen nicht, (Ex 23:24)36sondern den HERRN, der euch aus Ägyptenland geführt hat mit großer Kraft und ausgerecktem Arm, den fürchtet, den betet an und dem opfert.37Und die Satzungen und Rechte, das Gesetz und das Gebot, die er euch hat aufschreiben lassen, die haltet, dass ihr danach tut allezeit, und fürchtet nicht andere Götter.38Und den Bund, den er mit euch geschlossen hat, vergesst nicht und fürchtet nicht andere Götter, (De 4:23)39sondern fürchtet den HERRN, euren Gott; der wird euch erretten von allen euren Feinden. (De 6:13)40Aber sie gehorchten nicht, sondern taten nach ihren früheren Bräuchen.41So fürchteten diese Völker den HERRN und dienten zugleich ihren Götzen. Auch ihre Kinder und Kindeskinder tun, wie ihre Väter getan haben, bis auf diesen Tag.

Il en fit le siège pendant 3 ans.6La neuvième année du règne d'Osée, le roi d'Assyrie prit Samarie et exila les Israélites en Assyrie. Il les fit habiter à Chalach ainsi que sur les rives du Chabor, le fleuve de Gozan, et dans les villes des Mèdes.
Les raisons de l'exil d'Israël
7Tout cela est arrivé parce que les Israélites ont péché contre l'Eternel, leur Dieu, celui qui les avait fait sortir d'Egypte en les délivrant de l'oppression du pharaon, du roi d'Egypte, et parce qu'ils ont craint d'autres dieux.8Ils ont suivi les coutumes des nations que l'Eternel avait dépossédées devant eux et celles que les rois d'Israël avaient établies.9Les Israélites ont commis en secret des actes inadmissibles contre l'Eternel, leur Dieu. Ils se sont construit des hauts lieux dans toutes leurs villes, qu'il s'agisse de simples tours de garde ou de villes fortifiées.10Ils se sont dressé des statues et des poteaux sacrés sur toute colline élevée et sous tout arbre vert.11Là, sur tous les hauts lieux, ils ont brûlé des parfums, comme les nations que l'Eternel avait exilées devant eux, et ils ont eu des activités mauvaises, par lesquelles ils ont irrité l'Eternel.12Ils ont servi les idoles alors que l'Eternel leur avait dit: «Vous ne ferez pas cela.»13L'Eternel avait averti Israël et Juda par l'intermédiaire de tous ses prophètes, de tous les voyants. Il leur avait dit: «Renoncez à votre mauvaise conduite et respectez mes commandements et mes prescriptions, en suivant entièrement la loi que j'ai donnée à vos ancêtres et que je vous ai envoyée par l'intermédiaire de mes serviteurs les prophètes.»14Mais ils n'ont pas écouté, ils se sont montrés réfractaires comme leurs ancêtres, qui n'avaient pas cru en l'Eternel, leur Dieu.15Ils ont rejeté ses prescriptions, l'alliance qu'il avait conclue avec leurs ancêtres et les avertissements qu'il leur avait adressés. Ils ont suivi des idoles sans consistance au point de perdre eux-mêmes toute consistance, ils ont suivi les nations qui les entouraient et que l'Eternel leur avait défendu d'imiter.16Ils ont abandonné tous les commandements de l'Eternel, leur Dieu. Ils se sont fait deux veaux en métal fondu, ils ont fabriqué des poteaux d'Astarté, ils se sont prosternés devant tous les corps célestes et ils ont servi Baal.17Ils ont fait passer leurs fils et leurs filles par le feu, ils ont pratiqué la divination et la magie, ils se sont eux-mêmes vendus pour faire ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Eternel, au point d'exciter sa colère.18Aussi, l'Eternel s'est fortement irrité contre les Israélites et il les a éloignés de lui. Il n'est resté que la seule tribu de Juda.19Les Judéens eux-mêmes n'ont pas gardé les commandements de l'Eternel, leur Dieu, et ils ont suivi les coutumes établies par Israël.20L'Eternel a rejeté le peuple d'Israël dans son entier. Il les a humiliés, il les a livrés entre les mains des pillards et il a fini par les chasser loin de lui.21En effet, les Israélites s'étaient détachés de la famille de David et avaient proclamé roi Jéroboam, fils de Nebath, qui les avait détournés de l'Eternel et avait fait commettre à Israël un grand péché.22Les Israélites s'étaient livrés à tous les péchés que Jéroboam avait commis, ils ne s'en étaient pas détournés,23jusqu'à ce que l'Eternel chasse Israël loin de lui, comme il l'avait annoncé par l'intermédiaire de tous ses serviteurs les prophètes. C'est ainsi qu'Israël a été exilé loin de son pays, en Assyrie, où il est resté jusqu'à aujourd'hui.
Repeuplement de la Samarie
24Le roi d'Assyrie fit venir des gens de Babylone, de Cutha, d'Avva, de Hamath et de Sepharvaïm, et il les installa dans les villes de la Samarie à la place des Israélites. Ils prirent donc possession de la Samarie et habitèrent dans ses villes.25Au début de leur installation, ils ne craignaient pas l'Eternel, et l'Eternel envoya contre eux des lions qui tuèrent plusieurs d'entre eux.26On dit au roi d'Assyrie: «Les nations que tu as exilées et installées dans les villes de la Samarie ne connaissent pas la manière d'adorer le dieu du pays, et il a envoyé contre elles des lions qui les font mourir parce qu'elles ne connaissent pas la manière d'adorer le dieu du pays.»27Le roi d'Assyrie donna cet ordre: «Envoyez-y l'un des prêtres que vous avez exilés de là-bas. Qu'il aille s'y installer et qu'il leur enseigne la manière d'adorer le dieu du pays.»28Un des prêtres qui avaient été exilés de Samarie vint s'installer à Béthel et leur enseigna comment ils devaient craindre l'Eternel.29Cependant, ces nations fabriquèrent chacune leurs dieux dans les villes qu'elles habitaient, et elles les placèrent dans les centres de hauts lieux construits par les Samaritains.30Les gens de Babylone firent Succoth-Benoth, ceux de Cuth firent Nergal, ceux de Hamath firent Ashima,31ceux d'Avva firent Nibchaz et Tharthak. Ceux de Sepharvaïm brûlaient leurs enfants par le feu en l'honneur d'Adrammélec et d'Anammélec, les dieux de Sepharvaïm.32Ils craignaient aussi l'Eternel et ils se firent des prêtres de hauts lieux, pris parmi eux, qui offraient pour eux des sacrifices dans les centres de hauts lieux.33Ainsi, ils craignaient l'Eternel tout en servant leurs dieux d'après la coutume des nations d'où on les avait exilés.34Aujourd'hui encore, ils suivent leurs premières coutumes: ils ne craignent pas l'Eternel et ils ne se conforment ni à leurs propres prescriptions et règles, ni à la loi et aux commandements donnés par l'Eternel aux descendants de Jacob, celui qu'il a appelé Israël.35L'Eternel avait fait alliance avec eux, il leur avait donné cet ordre: «Vous ne craindrez pas d'autres dieux, vous ne les adorerez pas, vous ne les servirez pas et vous ne leur offrirez pas de sacrifices.36Mais l'Eternel qui vous a fait sortir d'Egypte avec une grande puissance et avec force, c'est lui que vous craindrez, c'est lui que vous adorerez, c'est à lui que vous offrirez des sacrifices.37Vous respecterez et mettrez toujours en pratique les prescriptions, les règles, la loi et les commandements qu'il a écrits pour vous, et vous ne craindrez pas d'autres dieux.38Vous n'oublierez pas l'alliance que j'ai faite avec vous et vous ne craindrez pas d'autres dieux.39Mais c'est l'Eternel, votre Dieu, que vous craindrez, et lui, il vous délivrera de tous vos ennemis.»40Ils n'ont pas écouté, ils ont suivi leurs premières coutumes.41Ces nations craignaient l'Eternel tout en servant leurs idoles, et leurs enfants et petits-enfants agissent jusqu'à aujourd'hui exactement comme leurs ancêtres.
