1In Judah God is known; his name is great in Israel. (Ps 48:3)2His abode has been established in Salem, his dwelling place in Zion. (Ge 14:18; Ps 9:11; Ps 27:5; Ps 74:2; La 2:6)3There he broke the flashing arrows, the shield, the sword, and the weapons of war. Selah (Ps 46:9; Eze 39:9)4Glorious are you, more majestic than the mountains full of prey. (Isa 14:25; Eze 39:4; Na 2:13)5The stouthearted were stripped of their spoil; they sank into sleep; all the men of war were unable to use their hands. (2Ki 19:35; Ps 13:3; Isa 46:12; Jer 51:39; Na 3:18)6At your rebuke, O God of Jacob, both rider and horse lay stunned. (Ex 15:1; Ex 15:21)7But you, you are to be feared! Who can stand before you when once your anger is roused? (Ps 47:2; Ps 130:3)8From the heavens you uttered judgment; the earth feared and was still, (2Ch 20:29; 2Ch 20:30; Hab 2:20)9when God arose to establish judgment, to save all the humble of the earth. Selah (Ps 9:7; Ps 9:8)10Surely the wrath of man shall praise you; the remnant[1] of wrath you will put on like a belt. (Ex 9:16)11Make your vows to the LORD your God and perform them; let all around him bring gifts to him who is to be feared, (Ge 31:42; Ge 31:53; Ps 50:14; Ps 68:29; Ps 89:7; Isa 8:13)12who cuts off the spirit of princes, who is to be feared by the kings of the earth. Wer kann vor dir bestehen, wenn du zürnest?9Wenn du das Urteil lässest hören vom Himmel, so erschrickt das Erdreich und wird still, (Ps 46:11; Hab 2:20)10wenn Gott sich aufmacht zu richten, dass er helfe allen Elenden auf Erden. Sela.11Wenn Menschen wider dich wüten, bringt es dir Ehre; und wenn sie noch mehr wüten, bist du auch noch gerüstet.12Tut Gelübde dem HERRN, eurem Gott, und haltet sie! Alle, die ihr um ihn her seid, bringt Geschenke dem Furchtbaren,13der den Fürsten den Mut nimmt und furchtbar ist für die Könige auf Erden.

1Al direttore del coro. Per strumenti a corda. Salmo di Asaf. Canto. Dio è ben conosciuto in Giuda; il suo nome è grande in Israele.2Il suo tabernacolo è in Salem[1], e la sua dimora in Sion.3Qua egli ha spezzato le frecce dell’arco, lo scudo, la spada e le armi da guerra. [Pausa]4Tremendo sei tu, o Potente, quando ritorni dalle montagne della preda.5I valorosi sono stati spogliati, hanno dormito il loro ultimo sonno, tutti gli uomini prodi sono stati ridotti all’impotenza.6Alla tua minaccia, o Dio di Giacobbe, carri e cavalli sono stati presi da torpore.7Tu, tu sei tremendo! E chi può resistere davanti a te quando esplode la tua ira?8Dal cielo facesti udire la tua sentenza; la terra ebbe paura e tacque,9quando Dio si alzò per giudicare, per salvare tutti gli infelici della terra. [Pausa]10Anche il furore degli uomini ritornerà a tua lode; ti cingerai degli ultimi avanzi dei loro furori.11Fate voti al Signore, al Dio vostro, e adempiteli; tutti quelli che gli stanno attorno portino doni al Tremendo.12Egli stronca lo spirito dei potenti, egli è tremendo per i re della terra.
