Der Feind hat alles verheert im Heiligtum.4Deine Widersacher brüllen in deinem Hause und stellen ihre Banner auf als Zeichen des Sieges.5Hoch sieht man Äxte sich heben wie im Dickicht des Waldes.6Sie zerschlagen all sein Schnitzwerk mit Beilen und Hacken.7Sie verbrennen dein Heiligtum, bis auf den Grund entweihen sie die Wohnung deines Namens. 1Cantico di Asaf. O Dio, perché ci hai respinti per sempre? Perché arde l’ira tua contro il gregge del tuo pascolo?2Ricòrdati del tuo popolo che acquistasti nei tempi antichi, che riscattasti perché fosse la tribù di tua proprietà; ricòrdati del monte Sion, di cui hai fatto la tua dimora!3Dirigi i tuoi passi verso le rovine eterne; il nemico ha tutto devastato nel tuo santuario.4I tuoi avversari hanno ruggito nel luogo delle tue assemblee; vi hanno posto le loro insegne[1] per emblemi.5Come chi agita in alto la scure nel folto d’un bosco,6con l’ascia e con il martello, hanno spezzato tutte le sculture della tua casa.7Hanno appiccato il fuoco al tuo santuario, hanno abbattuto e profanato la dimora del tuo nome.8Hanno detto in cuor loro: «Distruggiamo tutto!» Hanno arso tutti i luoghi delle assemblee divine nel paese.9Noi non vediamo più nessun segno; non c’è più profeta, né chi tra noi sappia fino a quando…10Fino a quando, o Dio, ci oltraggerà l’avversario? Il nemico disprezzerà il tuo nome per sempre?11Perché ritiri la tua mano, la tua destra? Ricòrdati che lo stolto ti oltraggia tutto il giorno.23Non dimenticare il grido dei tuoi nemici, lo strepito incessante di quelli che si innalzano contro di te.
