The Fool Says, There Is No God

To the choirmaster. Of David.

1 The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds; there is none who does good. (Ge 6:5; Ge 6:11; Ge 6:12; Job 2:10; Ps 10:4; Ps 53:1; Ps 74:18; Ps 74:22; Ro 3:10)

2 The LORD looks down from heaven on the children of man, to see if there are any who understand,^[1] who seek after God. (2Ch 15:2; 2Ch 19:3; Ps 11:4; Ps 102:19)

3 They have all turned aside; together they have become corrupt; there is none who does good, not even one. (Job 15:16) 4 Have they no knowledge, all the evildoers who eat up my people as they eat bread and do not call upon the LORD? Die Torheit der Menschen

1 Von David, vorzusingen. Die Toren sprechen in ihrem Herzen: »Es ist kein Gott.« Sie taugen nichts; ihr Treiben ist ein Gräuel; da ist keiner, der Gutes tut. (Ps 53:1) 2 Der HERR schaut vom Himmel auf die Menschenkinder, dass er sehe, ob jemand klug sei und nach Gott frage. 3 Aber sie sind alle abgewichen und allesamt verdorben; da ist keiner, der Gutes tut, auch nicht einer. (Ge 6:12; Ro 3:10) 4 Will denn das keiner der Übeltäter begreifen, / die mein Volk fressen, dass sie sich nähren, aber den HERRN rufen sie nicht an? (Mic 3:3) 5 Da erschrecken sie sehr; denn Gott ist bei dem Geschlecht der Gerechten. 6 Ihr lasst den Rat des Armen zuschanden werden; aber der HERR ist seine Zuversicht. (Ps 12:6) 7 Ach dass die Hilfe aus Zion über Israel käme! / Wenn der HERR das Geschick seines Volkes wendet, freue sich Jakob und sei Israel fröhlich! (Ps 126:1)

1 Al direttore del coro. Di Davide. Lo stolto ha detto in cuor suo: «Non c’è Dio». Sono corrotti, fanno cose abominevoli; non c’è nessuno che faccia il bene. 2 Il Signore ha guardato dal cielo i figli degli uomini, per vedere se vi è una persona intelligente, che ricerchi Dio. 3 Tutti si sono sviati, tutti sono corrotti, non c’è nessuno che faccia il bene, neppure uno. 4 Sono dunque senza conoscenza tutti questi malvagi, che divorano il mio popolo come se fosse pane e non invocano il Signore? 5 Ma ecco, sono presi da grande spavento quando Dio appare in mezzo ai giusti. 6 Voi cercate di confondere le speranze del misero, perché il Signore è il suo rifugio. 7 Oh, chi darà da Sion la salvezza a Israele? Quando il Signore farà ritornare gli esuli del suo popolo, Giacobbe esulterà, Israele si rallegrerà.
