Why Do You Hide Yourself?

1 Why, O LORD, do you stand far away? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble? (Ps 9:9; Ps 13:1; Ps 22:1; Ps 22:11; Ps 22:19; Ps 35:22; Ps 38:21)

2 In arrogance the wicked hotly pursue the poor; let them be caught in the schemes that they have devised. (Ps 7:15; Ps 7:16) 3 For the wicked boasts of the desires of his soul, and the one greedy for gain curses^[1] and renounces the LORD. (Job 1:5; Job 1:11; Ps 10:13; Ps 94:4; Isa 3:9)

4 In the pride of his face^[2] the wicked does not seek him;^[3] all his thoughts are, “There is no God.” (Ps 3:1; Ps 14:1; Ps 53:1) 5 His ways prosper at all times; your judgments are on high, out of his sight; as for all his foes, he puffs at them. 8 He sits in ambush in the villages; in hiding places he murders the innocent. His eyes stealthily watch for the helpless; (Ps 17:12; Ps 64:4; Hab 3:14) 9 he lurks in ambush like a lion in his thicket; he lurks that he may seize the poor; he seizes the poor when he draws him into his net. 13 Why does the wicked renounce God and say in his heart, “You will not call to account”? 17 O LORD, you hear the desire of the afflicted; you will strengthen their heart; you will incline your ear (1Ch 29:18) 18 to do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed, so that man who is of the earth may strike terror no more. Klage und Zuversicht beim Übermut der Frevler

1 HERR, warum stehst du so ferne, verbirgst dich zur Zeit der Not? 2 Weil der Frevler Übermut treibt, müssen die Elenden leiden; sie werden gefangen in den Ränken, die er ersann. 3 Denn der Frevler rühmt sich seines Mutwillens, und der Habgierige sagt dem HERRN ab und lästert ihn. 4 Der Frevler meint in seinem Stolz, Gott frage nicht danach. »Es ist kein Gott«, sind alle seine Gedanken. 5 Er fährt fort in seinem Tun immerdar. / Deine Gerichte sind ferne von ihm, er handelt gewaltsam an allen seinen Feinden. (Am 6:3) 6 Er spricht in seinem Herzen: »Ich werde nimmermehr wanken, es wird für und für keine Not haben.« (Ps 73:6) 7 Sein Mund ist voll Fluchens, voll Lug und Trug; seine Zunge richtet Mühsal und Unheil an. (Ro 3:14) 8 Er sitzt und lauert in den Höfen, / er mordet die Unschuldigen heimlich, seine Augen spähen nach den Armen. 9 Er lauert im Verborgenen wie ein Löwe im Dickicht, / er lauert, dass er den Elenden fange; er fängt ihn und zieht ihn in sein Netz. 10 Er duckt sich, kauert nieder, und durch seine Gewalt fallen die Schwachen. 11 Er spricht in seinem Herzen: »Gott hat’s vergessen, er hat sein Antlitz verborgen, er wird’s nimmermehr sehen.« (Ps 73:11; Ps 94:7; Isa 29:15) 12 Steh auf, HERR! Gott, erhebe deine Hand! Vergiss die Elenden nicht! (Nu 10:35) 13 Warum lästert der Frevler und spricht in seinem Herzen: »Du fragst doch nicht danach«? 14 Du siehst es ja, / denn du schaust das Elend und den Jammer; es steht in deinen Händen. Die Armen befehlen es dir; du bist der Waisen Helfer. (Ex 22:22; Ps 68:6) 15 Zerbrich den Arm des Frevlers und Bösen / und suche seinen Frevel heim, dass man nichts mehr davon finde. (Job 38:15) 16 Der HERR ist König immer und ewiglich; die Heiden sind verschwunden aus seinem Lande. 17 Das Verlangen der Elenden hörst du, HERR; du machst ihr Herz gewiss, dein Ohr merkt darauf, (Ps 9:19) 18 dass du Recht schaffest den Waisen und Armen, dass der Mensch nicht mehr trotze auf Erden.

Il castigo dell’empio

1 O Signore, perché te ne stai lontano? Perché ti nascondi in tempo d’angoscia? 2 L’empio nella sua superbia perseguita con furore i miseri; essi rimangono presi nelle insidie tese dai malvagi; 3 poiché l’empio si gloria delle brame dell’anima sua, benedice il rapace e disprezza il Signore. 4 L’empio, con viso altero, dice: «Il Signore non farà inchieste». Tutti i suoi pensieri sono: «Non c’è Dio!» 5 Le sue vie son prospere in ogni tempo; cosa troppo alta per lui sono i tuoi giudizi; con un soffio egli disperde tutti i suoi nemici. 6 Egli dice in cuor suo: «Non sarò mai smosso; d’età in età non m’accadrà male alcuno». 7 La sua bocca è piena di maledizione, di frodi e di violenza; sotto la sua lingua c’è malizia e iniquità. 8 Egli sta in agguato nei villaggi, uccide l’innocente in luoghi nascosti; i suoi occhi spiano il misero. 9 Sta in agguato nel suo nascondiglio come un leone nella sua tana, sta in agguato per sorprendere il misero; egli sorprende lo sventurato trascinandolo nella sua rete. 10 Se ne sta quatto e chino, e gli infelici soccombono alla sua forza. 11 Dice in cuor suo: «Dio dimentica, nasconde la sua faccia, non vedrà mai». 12 Ergiti, o Signore! O Dio, alza la tua mano! Non dimenticare i miseri. 13 Perché l’empio disprezza Dio? Perché dice in cuor suo: «Non ne chiederà conto»? 14 Invece tu hai visto; poiché tu guardi la malvagità e l’oppressione per poi ripagare con la tua mano. A te si abbandona il misero; tu sei il sostegno dell’orfano. 15 Spezza il braccio dell’empio e del malvagio; chiedi conto della sua empietà, finché tu non ne trovi più. 16 Il Signore è re in eterno; le nazioni sono state sterminate dalla sua terra. 17 O Signore, tu esaudisci il desiderio degli umili; tu fortifichi il cuor loro, porgi il tuo orecchio 18 per rendere giustizia all’orfano e all’oppresso, affinché l’uomo, che è fatto di terra, cessi d’incutere spavento.
