Pray for Us

1 Finally, brothers,^[1] pray for us, that the word of the Lord may speed ahead and be honored,^[2] as happened among you, (Ps 147:15; 1Th 1:8; 1Th 5:25) 2 and that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men. For not all have faith. (De 32:20; Ro 15:31) 3 But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.^[3] (Mt 6:13; Mt 13:19; Joh 17:15; 1Co 1:9)

4 And we have confidence in the Lord about you, that you are doing and will do the things that we command. (2Co 2:3) 5 May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ. (1Th 3:11)

Warning Against Idleness

7 For you yourselves know how you ought to imitate us, because we were not idle when we were with you, (Ac 20:35; 1Th 1:5; 1Th 1:6) 8 nor did we eat anyone’s bread without paying for it, but with toil and labor we worked night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you. Wünsche des Apostels

1 Weiter, ihr Brüder und Schwestern, betet für uns, dass das Wort des Herrn laufe und gepriesen werde wie bei euch (Eph 6:18; Col 4:3; 1Th 5:25) 2 und dass wir gerettet werden vor falschen und bösen Menschen; denn der Glaube ist nicht jedermanns Ding. 3 Aber der Herr ist treu; der wird euch stärken und bewahren vor dem Bösen. 4 Wir haben aber das Vertrauen zu euch in dem Herrn, dass ihr tut und tun werdet, was wir gebieten. (2Co 7:16; Ga 5:10) 5 Der Herr aber richte eure Herzen aus auf die Liebe Gottes und auf das Warten auf Christus.

Warnung vor Müßiggang

6 Wir gebieten euch aber im Namen unseres Herrn Jesus Christus, dass ihr euch zurückzieht von allen Brüdern und Schwestern, die unordentlich leben und nicht nach der Überlieferung, die ihr von uns empfangen habt. (Ro 16:17; 2Th 2:15) 7 Denn ihr wisst, wie ihr unserm Vorbild folgen sollt. Denn wir haben nicht unordentlich bei euch gelebt, (1Co 11:1; 1Th 1:6) 8 haben auch nicht umsonst Brot von jemandem genommen, sondern mit Mühe und Plage haben wir Tag und Nacht gearbeitet, um keinem von euch zur Last zu fallen. (1Co 4:12; 1Th 2:9) 9 Nicht, dass wir dazu nicht das Recht hätten, sondern wir wollten uns selbst euch zum Vorbild geben, damit ihr uns folgt. (Php 3:17) 10 Denn schon als wir bei euch waren, geboten wir euch: Wer nicht arbeiten will, der soll auch nicht essen. 11 Denn wir hören, dass einige unter euch unordentlich wandeln und arbeiten nichts, sondern treiben unnütze Dinge. 12 Solchen aber gebieten wir und ermahnen sie in dem Herrn Jesus Christus, dass sie still ihrer Arbeit nachgehen und ihr eigenes Brot essen. (1Th 4:11; 1Ti 2:2) 13 Ihr aber lasst’s euch nicht verdrießen, Gutes zu tun. (Ga 6:9) 14 Wenn aber jemand unserm Wort in diesem Brief nicht gehorsam ist, den merkt euch und habt nichts mit ihm zu schaffen, damit er schamrot werde. 15 Doch haltet ihn nicht für einen Feind, sondern weist ihn zurecht als einen Bruder. (1Th 5:14)

Friedenswunsch und Gruß

16 Er aber, der Herr des Friedens, gebe euch Frieden allezeit und auf alle Weise. Der Herr sei mit euch allen! (Joh 14:27; Ro 15:33) 17 Der Gruß mit meiner, des Paulus, Hand. Das ist das Zeichen in jedem Brief; so schreibe ich. (1Co 16:21; Ga 6:11; Col 4:18) 18 Die Gnade unseres Herrn Jesus Christus sei mit euch allen! (1Th 5:28; Re 22:21)

1 Per il resto, fratelli, pregate per noi perché la parola del Signore si spanda e sia glorificata come lo è tra di voi, 2 e perché noi siamo liberati dagli uomini molesti e malvagi, poiché non tutti hanno la fede. 3 Ma il Signore è fedele ed egli vi renderà saldi e vi guarderà dal maligno^[1]. 4 A vostro riguardo abbiamo questa fiducia nel Signore, che fate e farete le cose che vi ordiniamo. 5 Il Signore diriga i vostri cuori all’amore di Dio e alla paziente attesa di Cristo. 6 Fratelli, vi ordiniamo, nel nome del {nostro} Signore Gesù Cristo, che vi ritiriate da ogni fratello che si comporta disordinatamente e non secondo l’insegnamento che avete ricevuto da noi. 7 Infatti voi stessi sapete come ci dovete imitare: perché non ci siamo comportati disordinatamente tra di voi; 8 né abbiamo mangiato gratuitamente il pane di nessuno, ma con fatica e con pena abbiamo lavorato notte e giorno per non essere di peso a nessuno di voi. 9 Non che non ne avessimo il diritto, ma abbiamo voluto darvi noi stessi come esempio, perché ci imitaste. 10 Infatti, quando eravamo con voi, vi comandavamo questo: che se qualcuno non vuole lavorare, neppure deve mangiare. 11 Difatti sentiamo che alcuni tra di voi si comportano disordinatamente, non lavorando affatto, ma affaccendandosi in cose futili. 12 Ordiniamo a quei tali e li esortiamo, nel Signore Gesù Cristo, a mangiare il proprio pane, lavorando tranquillamente. 13 Quanto a voi, fratelli, non vi stancate di fare il bene. 14 E se qualcuno non ubbidisce a ciò che diciamo in questa lettera, notatelo, e non abbiate relazione con lui, affinché si vergogni. 15 Però non consideratelo un nemico, ma ammonitelo come un fratello.

Benedizione e saluti

16 Il Signore della pace vi dia egli stesso la pace sempre e in ogni maniera. Il Signore sia con tutti voi. 17 Il saluto è di mia propria mano, di me, Paolo; questo serve di segno in ogni mia lettera; è così che scrivo. 18 La grazia del Signore nostro Gesù Cristo sia con tutti voi.
